On 11 October 2014, we will be conducting a quick reconnaissance and attack against the oratan located deep in the Arkadia Underground. The main purpose of this mission is to test the oratan defensive capabilities, and gather more intelligence on their resupply capabilities. Pending success of this mission, additional attacks will be planned against the oratan in the future.

    Mission specs are as follows:

Location: Meet at The Abyss teleporter in the Arkadia Underground [9200, 23572, 265]

    Date/Time: 11 OCT 2014, 20:30 (mission will begin at 21:00)

Duration: This is a quick in and out mission, so planned duration is approximately 1 hour, longer if necessary to gather more intel.

Resources: Lars has volunteered his services as recon team medic.

Firepower: All available colonists are urged to be armed and ready

Additional Information: This is NOT a shared loot event. A team/teams will be formed at The Abyss teleporter. Team settings will be Damage: Share Loot. Each team will decide how items looted will be handled prior to event start (I've always done a split based on a certain market value of an item.. ie: 50 peds or so) Team leaders will be responsible for ensuring proper team settings and any item splits, if required.

This is not an official IFN sanctioned mission, however, should we be successful while testing the oratan defenses and gather sufficient intelligence, this could lead to further support from the IFN. Additionally, a success here could help us to weaken the oratan and help us reestablish control not only in the Ark UG, but also at our firebases.

Who is ready to help make this mission a success?? :gun:

And as stated; I will follow as a healer. This is not a mission run by us officials so look at Coz for leadership and organization.

Whoops, botched the intended time. Changed in the original post. Meet up is 20:30, recon begins at 21:00. This is so that Lars has enough time to do his Interview with Normandie radio, and then able to assist us as team medic.

Come join the fun, let's get that intel on the oratan to the IFN.

Thanks to the efforts of our team healers, as well as your resurrect efforts. :)

All in all, was a good mission. Here's some things I noted:

The oratan seem to have a number of power plants, some that they have numerous guards about. This leads me to believe they are not currently using all thier power plants, and only guarding the ones in use.

There seems to be an increase in the number of strange faces imprinted on the wall. More wary colonists screams burnt into the cavern rocks?

We spotted a very large spawn on the oratans. Big level miners as well as big level slashers and regular oratan. With the considerable size, it looks as if they are amassing a large army. Is this to defend themselves against smugglers? Is it to defend their encampment? Are they preparing an all-out assault on the colonists of Arkadia? These questions need to be answered.

There are several water sources, to include the main river that runs through the cavern. Perhaps the additional water sources are not actually water, but waste. Nobody was brave enough to test that theory, although Aia did launch her boat in one of these lakes.

There are two entrances to this massive cavern. One of which is the deep hole just outside (SW) of The Abyss TP. It opens up to the lake at the bottom. The other is on the north end of the cavern, and is a winding trail that ends up opening to the area west of Hidden Falls TP. This could open up the possibility of a two-pronged attack, should one become necessary.

All in all, I think this recon mission was a success. I will wait for the notes of the other team members before turning this information over to the IFN. Hopefully, they will see the need for, and sanction, a full-on assault, as I have no doubt that the supply chain for the oratan attacks on our firebases actually starts in this location.

The first I did when we were just on the outskirt of the encampment was to probe the soil. Although I did find an IX and VIII claim right there, the rest of the camp was empty. Some Oratan Miners did have a couple of ores & enmatters. This came mean a couple of things: a) the Oratan-camp is build on a now empty miningveil. b) the Oratan Miners are mining somewhere else. c) the Oratan Miners are not what they appear to be.

I also went into one of the waters, and did taste it. It was a horrible experience, one from wich even Lars's resurrection couldn't save me. I then walked back, in my undies and unarmed, to our team. That was on the other side of the Oratan-camp at that moment, so I had to run past more then one Oratan Sentry. None challenged me or even paid me the slightest attention. We all know that Oratan are aggressive and violent to colonists. This leads me to the following conclusion: the Oratans have human slaves working inside their camp, who have by some yet unknown reason no means of escaping. Possible this is done by an evil form of MindForce.

The huts (or yurts) on the campside cannot be entered by mere human physical means. No Oratan female was seen.
We also found numorous bones scattered, pity we didn't have a good Biologist with us to tell us from wich creatures these bones come.
Mega was at the end, near an abandoned campfire, killed and his death body was screaming in violent spasms. Lucky he was saved by Lars. Again the possibilty of dark MindForce is here paramount.

The last thing that I would like to comment on is that we found two mêlée weapons. One a full TT MAKO Wildfire 1 (L), the other a ~75 TT MANTA Chill 1 (L). This propably means they the Oratan know the means to craft these swords and will use them as well. As we've seen no Oratan holding one of these weapons, it is to assumed that they use it for other purposes.

Now I'de like to jump forward to an overal conclusion. The Oratan are very organized where every individual knows his or her own place. They are powerful enough to withstand a large team and are enmassing a big army. They fight to the death and show no mercy to intruders.
Fellow colonists have been enslaved by them and are trapped by powerful black MindForce. It is propably the females who are the practioneers of this MindForce. They use this for a) enslaving humans, b) torturing them and setting them screaming in the wall, c) closing off the yurts, d) taming Kamaldons and other riding-creatures.
The slaves are set to work in their power plants and construction plants (location unknown) and it is they who craft the mêlée weapons for the Oratans. Although it is unknown to what purpose, they do probably practise with these blades.
They have a complete disregard for the environment and dump toxic waste right inside their camps.

There is more to them then meets the eye, much, much more!
    Ardorj :)
