I'd like to see apartments be upgradable like the shops where the outside gets something done.

We are currently look at options for this.

Current thinking is that an apartment would be limited to a matching design to the shop below. Hence if the shop below is not done then it wouldn't be an option to upgrade an apartment.

What we don't want is the buildings turning into a kaleidoscope of different designs.

As usual we're happy for you guys to share your thoughts on how best this could be implemented.

Ahh I don't know there is a place in the UK Bristol.

It has the following and has become quite iconic

    View attachment 9684

I think there now listed and so even if you wanted to change then you couldn't

But how about an upgrade option for apartments that the walls inside could be different or different theme packs

    Under Ground Theme

    Space Theme

    Oratan Theme

    Militery Cammo Net

Then have these as options through the estate terminal as addon purchases ?

If players wanted custom inside theme then that could be extra ?

Any idea when new sexy firebase housing is going to be available ?

Your making a girl choose between artic and sand now as well ;(

come on when can i get my hands on one please ;) I dont even mind if say 5 are done like the new starter pack event ;) and get released that way.

Also Might be an idea if possible that if a shop is themed the apartment owners above the shop get an offer of the theming going up there appartment for minimal cost if X appartments say yes then all of theblock gets the theme.

Would be nice to see some more of the housing stock become available ;) ;) also remaining sanc cove shops and appartments ;) ;)

I would see only one option for upgrade apartments - item trade available: yes. All other don't suit me.
Sure for fair amount of PED's ;)

I could have read wrong, but I think the picture you showed is exactly what David means:
To have whole buildings with a different color/look, instead of multiple differently colored floors in a single building.

Complete buildings in the same style would look great, and could give the streets more character.
Lovely to see attention to detail, so it doesn't become a drab uniform row of cubicles.

I don't have any suggestions to give about upgrades on apartments an sich.
As I don't know much about them: I don't own an apartment. And frankly don't feel the urge to purchase one (for now).
Buying a bed that I can't lie down on, is kinda defeating the purpose for me. View attachment 9689

It's not a very good solution to the problem of lack of shops on Ark.

Yes in my Shop i have a 7 Shop Keepers, but they don't like to be used by players.
There is a problem with their loading, in particular, in my Shop, they are loaded last in line and because of the lag problems may not load at all (only pads). I do not argue, Shopkeepers are comfortable, and it's an easy upgrade path to the Shop. But I would be willing to pay the same price (2000 PED for every 20 item points in my apartment (up to 12000 PED), to be able to put items on the retail counters and tables. It's all because I have 312 item points in the Shop (and it is only inside!), and loading such a large number of items, taking a long time (due to lags). I'd love to expanded my shop by apartments, which I got in the same building some time ago. Because if I will expand the Shop up to 500 item points for example (+188 to current capacity), I suspect that the download will go very-very long.
If decay of Shopkeeper is important, maybe it is possible to charge sales by additional fee in the apartment (10 pec), as in Shopkeeper

That is a cool idea I like it :hail:

So what you’re saying you want to make every apartment owner a shop owner? I would say no this is not a good idea at all this would make all the shops on ark as useless as the ones on calypso. The reason the shops are so nice is the fact that you can sell items in them now if you give that option to anyone who owns an apartment it would devaluate the price of shops.

Because why would anyone pay 10-15K for a shop when they can just get an apartment and upgrade it to be able to sell items in it. If someone wants to sell items in their apartment then buy shop keepers. Why try to reinvent the wheel, while devaluing other proprieties. It would be like buying a house and everyone who had a house was able to operate it as a restaurant who/what would that benefit/accomplish? And as for being a shop owner yourself why would you want to decrease the value of your own shop it’s like the old saying goes; “Why cut off your nose despite your face”

Neil, I don’t think that Arkadia is lacking in shops; you can get whatever you want here on Arkadia already. I think with the amount of shops on Arkadia now, actually focuses the market. Unlike on Calypso where every time you turn around there is a shop here and a shop there, undercutting here undercutting there.

I do however think it would be nice to have the underground booths open so you don’t have to come back to the surface to resupply if you need more amps/weapons/armors. But turning apartments into mini shops would be counterproductive. Shop keepers are the only option that should be able available to use in apartments. Opening it up to be able to add items for sell is just like saying owning a shop is pointless.

As a shop owner I expect to pay more for it to be able to have the privilege of dropping items on shelves and counters for sale if I was able to do that with any apartment why would I waste the extra ped on getting a shop?

Just LOL. I'm glad that you as one of the lucky few shop owners are so content with your advantage over other players. You can see why I wouldn't take your opinion as objective, considering that there are a lot of players like me who want to own shops but can't because there aren't any available.

And yes, I will state again that shops are overpriced, and yes I think you paid too much for your shop. And yes I'm angry that no other shop opportunities are available on Ark when Caly was allowed to have "shops to spare". Honestly, it makes me want to give up and do my business on another planet rather than here, that's how much this issue bugs me. Either that or do what most crafters do and use numerous alts to sell their goods on auction.

Not to mention celeste shops are nearly unusable due to lag, for that reason alone I wouldn't buy one there even if it became available.

I do not believe that if the apartment owner will pay for item point in the apartment as much as for shopkeeper item point, shops will be worthless. Not at all. Shops will always have the advantage, because it is easier to enter. And the prices on the Shops will not fall, no matter that apartment-shops will grows here. Usability and easy access - is a key to success (for Shops). Shopkeeper - bad idea due to lags, I already wrote about it. Anthony, i believe that you dont have experience with large quantity of items in your Shop, so you so easy say that Shops must remain 'as is'. I had possibility to buy another Shop (current owner - Spirit Chaser) for 10k PED, and I was an owner of Mik Thereader Shop in the past. I can say that owning of two Shops is uncomfortably. Better will be a option with Apartments upgrading, and using them as extension of current Shop. And other players can upgrade their Shops too, for price, close to normal Shop market price. I don't think that here exist something bad. I can't move forward due to lags. I say it for devs.

    Neil,
I see you think my opinion is not objective and I would agree, because I’m looking at it as an investment issue as well. The same you way you look at the bp drop rates I feel the more bps we have the better the mats will be consumed thus creating a positive effect on the economy. You want less of a drop rate to protect the value of the bp not the value of the economy.

Is this any different? Not really, besides if you want to sell stuff in an apartment buy a shopkeeper as stated before. You apparently think shops are overpriced blah, blah and to me my shop was priced perfect and within my budget. And trying to compare calypso shops to Arkadian shops is a silly comparison because like you said the shops are a dime a dozen and worthless. Look how many are not even being used and vacant.

My theory on shops is the same as yours on the bps, the only difference is I have a shop and you have the bp’s so I feel your pain. But honestly make an alt ava to sell items on the AH that’s funny. And then complain about the lag saying even if one came open you would not take it because of the lag then why complain here? The EU is full of lag regardless of the planet you are on. It seems you are looking to blame others for you not wanting to make the commitment to deposit the peds needed to buy a shop.

Like your bps you should think of this as a long term investment I have vested well over 80K ped in my shop and running it but the pros far out way the cons.

Please don’t assume you know about how many items go through my shop as I'm sure you dont. See I do not have to max out the item points to have a great turn over (sometimes less is better). See what you might not know is own a real life business not just this one in the EU, so my RL experience has helped me in this aspect as I do not need to stuff my shop with 1000's of different items to make ped I stock what sells and what moves. So you might see me as a small time business owner but I assure you my ped card is far from being empty. I look at most things I spend money on as investments and judge what I do according to the risk/gain factors it possesses (better known as ROI).

I know about spirits chasers shop as I was talking to him about it and was on my way back to Arkadian to purchase it if he did not buy it, I knew he was looking for a shop so I gave him the option to be able to get it before I did, please feel free to ask him. I see the value in the shops as an investment and agree using apartments as a buffer for an extension to the shop is a good idea as I had the lvl 6 and lvl 7 above my shop and used it just for that purpose until I just recently sold it.

But adding a drop and price tag to an apartment takes it from an apartment too------- a shop regardless how you spin it. David said he would release more shops in the future when his planets player base increased enough to justify it. If to many shops are released it will be like Neil said about calypso “shops to spare" and the value would decrease just like Calypso’s did. But as you said David has the final say and I think he will agree making an apartment with a drop and tag feature like the shops will in effect turn them into well---------a shop on a different lvl that is no different than the twin mall or the PA mall or any other mall on Calypso.

I’m not against progress I want to see us as a planet grow; but like I said it takes time and I think we need the shop/stalls in the underground to open first. Why flood the market and tank the value of something that’s just bad business.

Is that what I think? That's news to me.

I like collecting BPs and I like crafting. I don't view them as long term investments. In fact, I am able to craft only a few of my BPs because I have no way to sell the items. My auction slots are constantly full, I have no room to sell crafted items on Ark. You're saying this situation helps the economy. Please explain, because I can't see it.

    you said

Ok here it is a simple explanation; if you have too many shops you have to many people competing to sell the same items. Thus, causing the mu to be lowered (that is a negative effect). So less shops until the player base is able to handle it is better. You have to trust that David is doing what is best for the planet and players. He is privy to numbers that we are not and as the player base has grown why jump the gun.

I waited 4 years to get a shop I was going to buy on Calypso but then I heard Ark was releasing them so I saved and waited. It was hard as I could have bought 2 shops on Calypso for what I paid for my Arkadia shop. But I seen it as a great deal & investment, as I Know David will not tank his economy just to add a few shops.

And as I said if you need space to sell your items I could rent you space in my shop or shopkeeper, but that’s totally up to you.
