IFN Intelligence: New attack forces detected!

    View attachment 8877

After the last few weeks of renewed fighting, IFN reconnaissance forces have been keeping a close eye on known Oratan positions in an effort to catch any build up of forces before they can advance on IFN positions and assets. However, it has been made abundantly clear that the Oratan seem to have, either a hidden staging area or some means of moving their forces unseen from both ground or orbital reconnaissance.

IFN Command Arkadia have deployed significant resources in order to ascertain how and where the main Oratan forces are being moved from in order for a coordinated strike to be executed. As a consequence, the majority of reserve forces are being used to reinforce vital assets whilst civilian militia augment the Firebases that have had their main combat forces stripped from them.

Any sort of significant intelligence on these main forces is yet to be revealed. However, a fortuitous encounter has lead to the early detection of Oratan forces advancing against Repulse and Fearless Firebases.

Due to previous attacks being focused on Steadfast and Courageous, immediate reinforcement was allocated to those positions. Unfortunately, this has left the defending forces at Repulse and Fearless far lower than usual and the Oratan seem to have either pre-empted this or have almost real-time surveillance on our positions which has allowed them to react far quicker than has previously been observed.

So, once again, the IFN are calling on Arkadia's loyal colonists, to assist in plugging the gaps in our defensive lines and bolster the IFN combat forces. Colonists of all levels are encouraged to attend. This attack is liable to be a heavy and sustained attack for an extended period of time, so people from different time-zones are encouraged to join and leave in at their convenience.

If you are able to lend support, please assemble at STEADFAST FIREBASE (Coordinates 1858, 13723) or COURAGEOUS FIREBASE (Coordinates 15182, 25704).

The attacks are estimated to hit around the following dates and times (MA/in-game time):

    • 31st January 2014 @ 19:00
    • 1st February 2014 @ 19:00

Please Note: This attack is liable to be a heavy and sustained attack for an extended period of time, similar to the last attack. We encourage people from different time-zones to join and leave in at their convenience.

    ***************************************************************

Due to issues arising from previous engagements, we once again ask colonists to please NOT shoot from the walls or from under the entrance of the base, as this causes the Oratan to become UNREACHABLE and spoils the event for other participants. We kindly ask that all players actually advance into the field and engage the enemy forces.

    ***************************************************************

The Oratan are, once again, likely to be throwing all they have at these bases including the largest and strongest warriors they can muster. As with previous engagements, IFN Command will make limited personnel available for Paramedical duties to assist colonial fighters.

Please arrive early and ensure all equipment is clean and in good repair, and you have adequate supplies of ammunition.

Any armour that keeps you alive after one hit normal hit (nothing will save you from a crit). The IFN fappers are extremely effective.

I'd LOVE if the event would continue underground in someway, with massive attacks in some sort of cave system. Could be a start to the smuggler mission chain as well :)

There's no question that more peds are cycled during events, but it doesn't really feel like, to me at least, the oratan attacks are done too frequently. They've been happening about every two weeks for two days at a time, since they started in mid-December. Compare that to certain Calypso events that last for weeks at a time (ie. Mayhem, Migration), with a bunch of not-so-short robot attacks in-between.

Hasn't Calypso had an "event" constantly since summer?

Pretty much. At this point, I consider it an event when there's nothing happening there.

Nice announcement post; those hints are very intriguing...

Just a small question: in the suggestion thread there was a mention of a base with lower level mobs in upcoming attacks before the next VU. Does that mean there will be lower level mobs already in this event?
Or not yet for this one, since there is no mention of specific levels?

It would be nice to know for sure; for example, so newbies (who happen to be on a little side trip, like me) can decide to fly back home for the attacks.

In any case: good luck and have fun, to all participating colonists. :D

Will 4-8 dmg every second work then?
