I would disagree with a lot of advice given. If you are hunting Carabok you do not want to play the average. In spite of the fact that the average damage is only 5% over the hits on the creature, the weapons that do more damage will cost you more since when you DO come in slightly under or over the hits, you waste a heck of a lot of firepower. And with a 5% margin that is probably more than 50% of the time. I think everyone would agree with this:

Have a suite of weapons at hand doing anywhere from 3-12 max damage. Smack them one time with the big weapon. Switch over to a weapon that does max a little above what is left. Finish with a small weapon when it has 2 or so hits left. Actually, you can get pretty good at figuring out what weapon will finish a creature when it gets low on hits just by looking at the bar. I have a SI Scorpion and a S.I. Blade and can mini-max when they get down low.

Frankly, though, even with the smaller weapons mini-maxing Carabok is a losing proposition. It only takes missing the target by one point of damage to kill the rewards percentage, which is why swunting is so attractive on them. Gallards are almost as easy and give better results - though there is that Carabok mission series so you can't just ignore the Carabok!

I don;t know what to say .... changind between weapons while hunting...carabok... well i really not sure what to say ....
As i saw so far the average return is 0.02 pec and the cost is between 0.03-0.04 no matter if u use insanly eco or eco or less eco (ofcource in the limit of weapons for puny) All is a bit frustrating me is that no matter you use , you still loose . The MU u get on hides and extractors or paint doesn;t cover the loose ..... SO ... for a noob (<- in my position) why should i continue ? If no matter how i play i loose ???
What's the point? Hope for a nice loot in the future ? (that is bingo) .... or at least tell me someone that if u use WEAPON X combined With WEAPON Y you have a return of 99% for example and if u sell the items to other players you can have a bit of profit ! Can anyone confirm that ?
PS: I debate this on carabok becouse if the loot system is the same for all mobs , means it applyes on any other mob :)
SO what are you're toughs ?

Forgot to add something : puny mission on calyoso.... is way better.... since you loot alot of items (L) with high MU :) ALOT !
    SO... why caraboks ?

I've said this before on another thread, and I'll repeat it again. The puny mobs are almost DESIGNED to turn off newbies. They're about all a newbie can manage and yet their returns are so bad. I will say that if you sweat them out before you bump them off you will gain skills and about 1.5 PEC worth of sweat (if you can ever sell it. - that's a challenge in and of itself) So you CAN break even. And keep in mind that skills are worth PED. In this game you can actually sell skills. Trying to figure out what the skill gained is worth would hurt my brain too much though.

I would recommend taking the mining route if you want to break even right off.

You want to make a profit? Not likely, particularly at first. This is a very hard game to play if you do not want to pay, and at the beginning it means spending a lot of time doing boring sweating until your defensive skills improve a bit. After you get the hang of it, however, I can testify that the cost can be kept at a minimum and, if you are smart and patient and willing to put in the effort ,a profit. But if you want money you are much better off mowing your neighbors lawn (and then spending it on this game :).

    hi noob,

I played with Carabok's for a bit inbetween CAP TT-R hunting Feran to graduate from (doesn't seem to be online) Trick Daddy Thomas. As he has gone dormant I've not really got much option when it comes to revisiting the theory from an Arkadian perspective, but I can tell you this.

The Spreadsheets that I kept on Carabok using Bukin's Blade x3 (before 3% min condition) gave an average return of 85% per run and the MU from Carabok Hide gave a profit on those mobs.

As for your choice of title, Toulan is coming out soon; gathering rocks is always a good move in new territory. Plus with 5k PED on launch day you could probably trade your way up. You might find better luck as a Trader as it doesn't test your PED card against the volume of available demand or even the Donchian Channel of market speculation, it instead relies on 5-min soufflee and minute steak to secure a bread winning eCommerce career. I've lost money in this game, BUT if you divide that by even 300 people it's around $2 per head, and I've been playing for 3months, my first spell was strictly Bukin's Blade and I used that on Cornundacauda Young at Treasure Island upto 5k cleared before taking a break to qualify as a mentor. Even if MA didn't have running costs I wouldn't exactly be feeding anyone or their kids, so I don't see or feel the loss in the same way as others (also; I'm in a British Pound governed economy too, so it's really not a lot).

I'm about to make my first withdrawal (even though xmas presents are already bought) but I'd recommend ROCKTropia, the instances there are more accessible and the Speed Metal market from the instances is quite lucrative.

Why not visit <removed due to Rule 2i> and earn free PED to play with after you finish your work. It's all outsourced data entry work (or someone trying to boost a profile of some kind, but it's all linked to the IP of CrowdFlower as a preceeding IP address connection).

I hit 10% bonus within 3 hours of actual Data Entry and averaged ~ $4/hr, which I tolerate as a game dying is a sad smile for the majority. For some, working isn't a state of mind that finishes when you get home or clock off as it were.

I did try www.PEDtoClick.com but it was second in line, and regardless of any speculation it seems CrowdFlower allocates tasks to the primary reference for a given user name, in this case via <removed due to Rule 2i>

If you stricly stick to skilling on carabok, and your losses are ~70ped per week, you'd probably be able to top that up from <removed due to Rule 2i> in 5 hours of checking and clicking.

Was going to make another big speach about eco... but you can re-read my previous posts if you want that. I'll just say that my cost to kill 16,600 Carabok for the missions is going to end up around 600 ped (I'm at 8,600 kills with 328.04 spent). The Ark-TT R with a smaller finisher (cyrene hk110 or psy-blade work well for this) is about the most eco you're going to get from TT weapons. Bukins blade + a finisher is another good option if you can get one cheap or go to Caly and do the missions. After I sell the loot I'm going to end up paying a bit under 30 ped to complete all the Carabok missions. Being eco counts, those fractions of pecs add up to a big difference when you're killing lots of mobs.

While I absolutely agree with all the comments about hunting eco, I have to say, most of the time I can't be bothered switching to a finisher. I use the Ancient Greece TT weapons - Labrys, Falx, and Falcata for the Carabok mission (I'm about 3k into the 10K mission).

The aim, as far as I'm concerned, is to kill as many as possible in as short a time as possible so its just hack, loot, hack loot..Using a finisher just means that it takes a little longer to finish each mob. Sure its not as eco as it could be, but that not my concern - I just want to get through the rest of the 10k as quickly as possible and I'm not too concerned about the ped cost or about the loot for that matter.

Everyone though has to decide how best to do things to suit themselves so my style of hunting the Carabok may not suit a new player who needs to make every ped and pec work as hard as possible.

I'm right there with ya, 3k into the 10k mission now. Sometimes I feel like throwing eco out the window to just get it done, lol. After 9600 carabok I don't think I'll ever want to see one again by the time I finish :p

I know the feeling :) I ground my way through the Caly puny mission and I was glad to see the back of it. I'm 3 or 4 k into the 12K Halix as well, (I think its 12k.. A lot anyway) I use opalo on them and sometimes the AG melee weapons by way of a change.

I love to use grenade launchers against carabok and gallard and then deal with lots of little agro guys. Saves heaps of running around. Not a method I would recommend to new players though.

Ok.... let me tell you something about me : i have 9+ experience of the game (well with some years breake period :)))
I gave caly a try of 14k$ ,,,, now i am more in testing and want give arkadia a try,
I did 3 or 4 times the puny missions and yes : i broke even and even on 4th went on + .... why ? becouse i coulded find the items in loot with some experience. I tested there my theory with zone of loot and it worked.
On my 1st puny run : looted like 46 weapons in 1st 6k mobs , on my second looted 54 ... and on the 4th looted 72 ... why ? becouse i had a route of mobs where i knew they drop weapons .... and they did all the time.... there are zones where you can camp several hours and nothing..... (BTW : did same tests on atrox) (oh and not a breake of EULA:i have a big family that play EU and let me their chars so i can make tests :D:D:D -> on my money).... well enough with that atm....
What is my point is that carabok and the tests i did here is like pointless ..... Why is not the same as the puny on calypso ? what's the point of hunting them here? and btw : i found a gallard spot with nice loots (all time every hour it resets aprox 2 ped same zone or 1 ped in 3 spots) :):):):):)

Forgot to add something :):):) on higher mobs like atrox or even combibo (did alot of tests) the spots differ by char .... some spots in a place for an avatar some spots on other place for other avatar.....(and it doesn;t matter if you are a depositor or not)... indeed everyone know that depositing = + and increased globals etc.... bla bla bla other story or debate :D

Btw: if i bother you with my stories and what i think and observed just tell me and i will stop spam the forum (just i am bored to keep them for myself and need opinions ...)

if you played 7years with some years absence and know all this then you should also know to not put something out as facts that you can't prove

As for your theory and possible proof, post it here: Loot Theories
And let the discussion about that continue in it's own separate thread in the appropriate place please

You're quite lucky in so far as having already lost $14k of re-rolled decay (meaning deposits of $14k get used over and over again), in your understanding of sine waves. As for the sharing of accounts it is an in-game EULA breach but lets be frank, if MA want a finite sum liquidity and re-rolling PED frees up contingent liability then it would be arguable that being a non-depositor would be incentivized in medium-to-high deposit periods but that's business not gaming, ergo MA wouldn't be acting in their own interests if they perma-banned "stable" non-depositors, maybe depositing is incentivized, maybe items and drops are on timers, or maybe $2 is a banquet. It's all a matter of taste at the end of day.

I relied heavily on average turnover of resources in my Calypso calculations. Most resources have a PED volume of $100 on daily trend so it's not really where the bulk transactions are, and will be dependant on advertising of products and opportunity. Animal Oils at low level - Muscle and Eye - are around $5k per day.

The way this relates to items? in general people find that "sympathy globals" or "replacement gun minis" are the sole reason for unlimited guns like Ancient Red Scorpion.

Others realise that skill pool based contention is the reason people "camp mobs successfully til depletion", while others fail. I put EU in front of several other players in Neverwinter (single shard) and most responses were "Ponzi", so <removed> is probably the safest and most enjoyable way to hit 100% tt for "average joe" or even pioneers like Smoerble, given the turnover on mined resources. Sure Lyst and a few other primacy materials are turning over $1000 a day, but how much of that is actually sold on or speculation depletion.

Nguyen made a very clever remark on PCF in relation to "not knowing the system and now turning a profit overall" in so far as camping a BP and testing a few other bp's. It links in the demand of her resources to Miners, meaning more miners are accomodated, also meaning more singular entity losses, meaning more freed up asset = more incentivized global advertising in both pools, which has ultimately led to Nguyen's profit, she's in that pool making people play, some of them deposit to keep playing when times are bad and the cumulative losses are pooled within MA and tied to Crafting (mineral decay) and Mining (probe/amp decay).

All in she's an asset for the community with MU purchases, and MA with roled volume. I think it was an even smarter move to have haca mouse nguyen rolling in similar territory, much for the same reason of Alan Krom Alan's ATH. Cumulative losses are also semi-dependant on competition. Meaning that transferable losses will be in a similar location each time, miner losses in mining spikes (or no one would global unamped right?). stick with your kin :)

Anyways as you've got it made and are already operating within acceptable parameters, don't forget.

What did i put as a fact ? and needed to prove... ???? -> if you refer at loot theory is just a theory i tested on caly for over 2 years and now on ark ... and so on ....(and btw is 9+years , since 04.... with breakes ... prolly 5 years of active playing)

And yet you claim 9 years experience and years worth of testing? I don't mean to be rude but if you can't see the reason your returns are poor (un-eco hunting) then I'm not sure I trust your math and logging skills enough to believe any theories on loot that you may have. You also stated earlier that the average loot on a Carabok is 2pec, according to my own logs (9,850 kills thus far) the average loot is 3.14568 pec.

That said, you are right about Carabok loot vs. Calypso puny loot. Nothing on Carabok can match the (insane) MU people will pay on the ep-2, rubio, azuro, and lancehead weapons (Except maybe the TP 1 TEN Edition(L)... but I haven't seen that drop in almost 10k kills). I'm baffled by people willing to pay 500%+ MU on an (L) weapon for regular hunting but they do it so there's certainly money to be made. Another thing to consider is the mission rewards are better on Carabok / Gallard than on Caly's punies, so it's a bit of a trade off. You pay a bit more overall completing the mission, but you get more for it too.

Is normal to ask if i do something wrong... becouse i applied what i tested on calypso and got surprised that didn;t worked on carabok....
I will figure it out somehow ... and yes on puny, using same gear (on 4 missions full 16600 killed) they had an 3-4 pec average ... including MU a bit more ..... so yes i am a bit confused if the loot system differs from planet to planet.... The only tests i did on arkadia so far was on minning .... when it appeard the planet .... and was a totally +++++++ unespected good ...
Indeed i didn;t did tests so serious till a couple of months ago .... The tests did in the past and all the time was about loot gain , how is it distributed among mobs(same mob type) by location and pack ....

When i will have a bit more time to post a concrete loot observation ("theory") i will make a new thread and debate there.
I saw alot changed since 04.... but (BUT) the backbone is the same :):):):)

i agree with this. for low lvl mobs u need to get as eco as possible.
