My avatar name is Discordia Seventh.

This is my third day into the game. I have registered on EntropiaLife, and on Entropedia.info.
I have already done a TP run of Arkadia's desert by foot. I plan to get the rest of the teleporters charted this month.

I registered here to find a society that will let me repair their mothership. I am looking for a mentor that is active. I am of EST timezone, and I'm a US player. I'm looking for a society that can sell me wire and RK-5s or help me skill up quick.

I have skilled up Longblades while doing the Halix IFN Challenge Missions. I'm probably going to switch gears to Laser Carbines with an amp. I own an HK110 and an Opolo. I also own the Laconian and the S.I. Psy Sword.

I got Longblades skilled just enough to raise my Strength and Health a significant bit.

I'm permanently switching to Laser Carbines now.

I'm looking to buy an amp for my HK110 to be a little more eco.
I have an empty implant and a implant tool.

What chip should I put in it? I'm looking for an unlimited chip, and I'm thinking about going the field heal route with it.
But I also want to know some opinions on if I should chip for crafting instead?

A lot of ships, both MS and the Vegas, allow people to repair for free. There is no need to be in a particular soc for that. Several of them have people on board that will sell the RKs and the wire. Have a look on the 'services' and 'space' areas on PlanetCalypsoForum.

Hello Discordia, welcome to Planet Arkadia! You are already well on your way.

That is a nice archievement of yours. Good goal too to get the other teleporters soon. You've looked at the map at Entropedia to know where to find them?

As Meric said, a society is not needed to get on a Mothership. Same goes for the RK-5s, you can buy and sell basicly anything from other players, no need for a society for that. Societies can help though when it comes to friendly-prices.
Mentors you can find here on this forum at the "Mentoring"-section or open the "Mentor Register" ingame. For the latter you need to know who to look for, because there are like > 3000 mentors waiting to accept new disciples.
You also don't need a mentor. You can get great advice here on the forums by good and knowledgable players on basicly everything you can dare to ask. But then you do miss the change to get the disciple-rewars. Adjusted Musca and a vehicle if I'm not mistaken. A society, especially noob-friendly ones can also serve as a good school.

Well done on the Halix Missions. Do I understand you right that you've done the whole mission chain in just three days?!

It might also be a good idea for you to shoot mobs first with a laser carbine (or any other ranged weapon) and then finish it off with a sword (or any other mêlée weapon). Mêlée gives you good health and strenght. The latter is need to carry more and the first to survive larger hits ofcourse.
Amping your weapons is always good. Unfortuatly mêlée-amps still aren't here, but they might comes (very) soon.
This is also one of the great parts of Entropia Universe: you can choose any proffession you like. In ten years you can switch to using every other type of weapon. The skills you get contribute to multiple proffessions.

I don't know if I understand you correctly here. There are two types of implants: 1) Skill implants and 2) Mindforce implants.
    1) Skill implants are always limited. Hunters can loot an Empty Skill Implants (L) or ESI for short. With that players can extract their skills and then they get for example an Aim Skill Implant (L). When you buy one of this, your Aim-skill increases. A skill-chip with a higher value gives you more skills. Look at this Chipping Optimizer by Jdegre to see the effect of a skill-chip on your pro-standings.
    2) Mindforce implants can be both limited and unlimited. They come in different types: Attack, Heal, Teleportation and some more but you need good Mindforce-skills for that. Mindforce-chips need Mind Essence as ammunition. You need a NeoPsion Mindforce Implant for these kind of chips to work.

Be adviced that when you get a mentor you can't use skill-chips as long as you're a disciple.
I don't craft myself, but from what I hear it is the most expencive of the three main proffessions (Hunting, Mining, Crafting). So unless you know what you are doing, chipping in Crafting-skills might very well be a waste of PEDs.

Actually, you can freely chip in and out while a disciple. Chipping engineering, anatomy, and geology won't affect your mentoring progress, however.

I always get a little worried when I read a new player planning to get into crafting. Great idea to skill up by repairing on a ship but please be aware that crafting is probably the most expensive profession to get into. Skilling is expensive. Craft runs can be expensive. You need to understand the market to know what crafted goods are sellable for markup. Bps for profitable items can be expensive. So you basically need to be prepared to sink a lot of ped into the profession before you are likely to see a reasonable payoff.

When I first started I dipped my toe in the crafting waters and then backed off in a hurry and mostly stayed away for a year, with the exception of using TT food loot for skilling (eg generic leather texture). In the meanwhile I skilled up in other areas of the game and worked to gain an understanding of the economy.

Then when I did start crafting, I had what I thought was a good idea of what would sell, what had ok MU, needed ped reserves etc. I was off base on quite a few areas but at least I had a starting point and had some plans on how to proceed, how to monitor results and such.

So my advice is don't be in a big hurry to craft.

Regarding crafting, I think it's also worth noting that it is probably the most boring activity in EU while you're actually doing it. I have no real way of knowing, but I suspect that many players go off to do something else (eat dinner, play another game on a console, read a book...) while the crafting run is going on.

Saw you last night in the Quarry Discordia, glad to see you are off to a great start! You have a great weapon in the HK110, good bump with the Opolo. And it seems you been doing alot of reading which is always a plus.

The Starfinder XIV welcomes anyone that want to repair for skill on board when we are over a planet with the note that if we get a call for work, you either have to disembark or stay on board to repair whether we get hit by pirates or not. Your call. And remember, we will be moving to a new planet(s) too so if you come along for the ride, you are along for the ride heh.

As noted by others, we are not alone in this...many Motherships and Privateers (vega) do this.

I would like to note a few things for you though....

    1) NEVER TAKE LOOTABLES INTO SPACE

These are the resources and material tabs.

    2) Repair Skilling is EXPENSIVE.

Its the CHEAPEST way to skill up but, it is certainly not LOW COST. And RK-5 and the 51k of welding wire will set you back around 20 ped or so (18-22 depending on where you get them). Welding Wire is currently on an uptick I think (was last night) from its normal MU too.

And every 3.5 hours or so, you will burn that ped totally up with 0 return except your skill.

    3) Crafting is not cheap.

While getting skills repairing is the fastest and in my opine, the best way to get skill, at least at lower levels, for crafting. Crafting itself is not cheap. You get alot of near successes and outright failures for each success even when you are at 95% (max skill) for the Blueprint and its a full BP (1.00 TT).

And right now, as of last night at least, there appears to be a crafting bug that cuts this to a whopping 20% success rate (or less) so alot of people have quit crafting until that little bug is squashed.

    ***

So don't get me wrong, you are doing everything smartly and right by the numbers to be on track. A great starting run I think.

Just be prepared for the cost and don't forget to do some sweating too. Evade is wonderful and sweating is a good way to skill up and add a few ped.

Best of luck and let me know if you want on the XIV to do some repairing.

I'm doing okay I guess. I'm hunting at osteloks and halix, killing mutated in teams of one or two other people. It seems that I go broke more often than breaking even, even when using the HK on Carabok or those space ostriches. I may have to sell sweat sometime. I haven't been focusing on crafting so much as hunting. It's still something I want to do in the long run.

I think I may be reading too much. Seems MA doesn't really interface with its players directly anymore. If I've read it right, they used to have people in game. I've also read that a few planet partners fell through and that there's a mixed speculation as to why that happened.

Perhaps I should just play and stop reading so much, lol...

I'm guessing Teleport chips kinda became less useful a while ago when vehicles came to be, but I bet they're helpful on large planets like Calypso, where teleporters are spread far apart from each other.

I am nearly 20% done with mentoring because of my vehicle repair skilling in space. I don't plan to chip yet, I ended up selling my implant back to the TT to get more ammo. Though, it seems I'm -slowly- running out of ammo.

I feel like the Apolo is not as eco as the HK in the long run, even against some mutated creatures. It burns more ammo, does more damage, however, it has a slower rate of fire, and the HK uses half of what the Apolo does.

Though there is the decay... Apolo decays less than the HK against bigger creatures, so it's really hard for me to tell...

If only I had that A101 for the HK, or the A102 for the Opalo.

    ---

To all who welcomed me to the game, thank you. Having found out about a few major planet projects being dropped from the game, I'm not so certain I'll be investing in land. I'm not certain that EU will be around three years or so from now, and I'm not willing to take any big financial risks with MA-- considering that some planets have a dead population. (Cyrene, Next Island..?)

I don't plan on uninstalling, I've read a lot of positive things too.

I'm going to play and see what happens, because that's half of the excitement. Maybe the moon will be interesting...

I don't plan on depositing again until I unlock Avoidance. I know this will take a long while, and I'm really not concerned about it. Everything seems to go really quick on here in comparison to some korean mmos that I have played, and I have a lot of patience.

For fun, I went and built up some Dodge, so I didn't get bored, and I have plenty of other games to play too.

Arkadia currently has the best developer interface of any planet. You can find Chris | Arkadia frequently at the Quarry. You can also find an Arkadia Adviser in game if you need help with something or advice. Mindark avatars have never, to my knowledge, shown up on Arkadia, they leave that kind of thing to the Planet Partner.

About planet partners "falling through", there is only one that has stopped development (Next Island), and there's no real need for speculations... the NI economy was designed badly from the start and what they did have was never fully implemented. Most materials you loot are useless (not just worthless, but actually useless... there's a difference!), so they couldn't keep a large enough playerbase on the planet, the owner fired his development team and then lost interest in developing the planet further. As far as I know, Arkadia and Rocktropia are both doing fine (RT is a bit of a "niche" planet, so they've always had a relatively small population). Cyrene has not yet had their official launch (and has a very small development team so their progress will necessarily be slow until they can increase that).

TP chips are still very useful on Arkadia, I use mine many times a day as it's the fastest way to travel.

The opalo is not a very eco weapon. If you want a bigger rifle--one that is more eco than the opalo--I recommend the Herman LAW-0 (with or without A101 amp). Entropedia is required for finding a good weapon and comparing stats. Also try the weapon compare tool there. A101 is too big to use with the HK110 and the A102 amp is too big to use with the opalo. The max amp you can use on a weapon is equal to half the max damage of the gun. So, the smallest gun the A101 (doing +3 dmg) can fit on is one that does a max of 6 dmg per shot (for example, the CAP-TTR pistol).

I mentioned above about NI stopping development.

Investing in land in game would mean 1) buying a Land Area where you can grow your own mobs and receive a share of the income or 2) owning an estate (shop or apartment). A Land Area would be thousands of dollars while a shop or apartment are much less and would require ongoing use to make the investment "worth it"... unless you're just speculating on resale price. I recommend getting a lot more experience in the game before investing heavily into anything.

I always understood it that you couldn't use skill chips if you were a Disciple. I've never been under the impression or aware that there were changes to this.

I don't know about the past, but disciples CAN chip in/out freely now. The chipped in/out skill does not affect your mentoring progress, however.

If a disciple tries this and it doesn't work, then the behavior is different for different avatars, because it DEFINITELY works for at least one of my disciples.

Disciples can chip in now but as Neil said it wont help their progress, in the old system it wasn't possible to chip in while being a disciple but since the new system brought back mentoring you can

That is an excellent wiki for EU.

The HK110 is more eco then an Opalo. I personally prefer the LAW TT R from Ark over the Opalo too. But the HK110 is my main weapon choice for most mobs. Its good to kill even young to old Halix (non mutated).

Remember everything is designed so that you are working at a 10% loss (on average over the long haul) so yeah, you are slowly losing ground. Only way to bump this is doing the sweat thing or deposit. Sweating does give Evade so its not too bad.

Stay away from crafting for a long time, or at least till you can deposit and get your ped up to at least 500 and be prepared to lose it all. Crafting is slow but, the good thing is doing the VSE will get your mentorship AND the crafting skilled the most eco way but again, remember you are getting 0 ped return on it save the skills.

I personally hit Caraboks out the yinyang and still do. I love those little rats.

You can also find them in the Firebase Academies normally. Some have light spawns, others decent spawns, plus around the Quarry, few other outposts and along a few roads...plenty of hunting grounds.

I also subscribe to a small rule....when hunting that is.

If I get 2 or more "no loots" in a short time, I stop...move to a new location...and resume most of the time.

If I get 3...I'm outta there for sure.

By a short time I mean withing about 3-10 kills. To me, the server is telling me the PED are drying up (or have dried up) and any loot I am getting at that point is from my own PED being eaten up....

    Few other tips....

Never put anything on the auction at below a 105% MU. Its just not worth it. As a general rule of thumb, not carved in stone mind you, but general....the AH fee is about 5% (give or take) and so, if you get 105% you end up getting TT value..anything less..you lost money and anything more, you made a profit.

Now, let the item NOT SALE once....pure loss of the fee.....bleh...

Mix things up...hawk your hunting stuff for some time between hunts and see if other players will buy, even getting 101% from a player is better then TT unless you wait a long time for the extra 1%. Makes no real sense to me to wait a week for 1% profit if I am hurting for PED. Now, if you can afford to wait until you get it, entirely different story.

TT is the LAST resort for anything though, its the bare minimum you should ever get for your goods.

I see alot of people putting things up on the AH for less then 100% hoping to get a second clicker to get over the % MU....makes no sense to me as I said...anything less then 5% and you are going to end up losing funds and most times, you aren't catching ppl and the times you do simply are not going to make up the losses.

Instead of the A101 amp on your HK100...try the B101. They are fairly plentiful, last a decent amount of time, help the eco more and easy to get even from a player. They bump the damage about 1 point too.

I sell the amps also but, they are priced based off the AH fees too so, it comes out about the same if you get one from me or buy from the AH save for a few things...

    1) I also buy items sometimes at slightly below MU (normally about 20% less then MU so 200% comes out about 160% for example) though, nothing is set in stone. If I need an item and its not going to be resold, then I pay higher and sometimes over MU depending on need....most players will that can.

    2) I provide answers to questions at no cost as I can. Sometimes I get a run of players (2-10 ppl wanting to talk to me at a time) and I simply can't handle it all. But most times, I am very willing to share my limited knowledge of the game. The AH don't do that..lol.

Anyways, best of luck to you and may the global find you every mob!!!

EFA is a great crew to skillup with (it's free! :)), (www.efa.ms) or you can do John's Titans of Space 1 month free (titans-of-space.de). GOOD LUCK :)
