    Good Day Guys/Girls.

New to Entropia Universe and new to the forums! I have started playing Entropia in the last week and had already decided on my profession. Currently going to try and specialise in mining and possibly crafting.

I would however like to know how long it takes for ores to regenerate on Arkadia? I have found a few good spots, and have been mining all over, but would like to return to previous claims, if I knew how long it takes to re-spawn the ores.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

well there are a lot of theories but no facts about that one. Personally i wait about 2 hours before revisiting an area i have mined before. That works, but i guess you can revisit a lot sooner then that.

From the tests I'm aware of, it's at least 8 hours, probably more. I suspect that ore respawn rates are variable depending on the location. I personally wait a day or two before re-mining an area.

The way ores are set up on Arkadia (many ores in one area), you might as well mine many areas. There's plenty of mining space on the planet, so there's not much need to mine one area over and over.

I would advise any new players to avoid crafting till they have a good understanding of the economy and a willingness and capacity to absorb significant ped losses.

I agree, two hours is enough. I even tried coming back after 30 minutes and was getting a normal hit-rate, but I didn't really test this properly to make any conclusions.

unless you are looking for rare resources respawn can be as fast as 10 minutes. it is probably best to wait a hour or two but no need to wait any longer. the respawn rate has been tested by miners on calypso forum so i would say it is a fact and not just theory.

Unless you're using different depth finders, then you can mine in the same spot, regardless of the ores/enms/THs respawn time!

i.e. You're using tt finder for the first run (Shallow depth finder), then you can use F105 (Medium depth finder) or VRX3000 (L) (Deeper depth finder) in the same spot...

Well in the 7 years I have mined I found respawn timers are tied to 3 factors. 1st rarity of the mineral. 2nd is the "Skill level" for lack of better term of the mineral.. IE. Lyst vs Tridenite. Which also ties in players ability to reach certain depths. 3rd and mostimportnat. The market. How fast is a mineral being cycled. the system seems to follow the standard "Wave" theory for an areas activity.

So if you mine with a single finder you increase you chance to clear out a depth range faster (Think the effects of using common finders in common areas added in). Now factor in the market if that mineral isn't being used up by crafters it will not be replaced till the need is there. Add in the "Wave" factor and if that wave has passed the area it could make a huge difference when that are replenishes itself.

I believe there is also a new factor to consider with the additions of planets.. The planet using the most of a resource seems to get priority on the amount of minerals to be found. So EVERYONE who is mining other planets then exporting to Caly for sales are actually hurting the planets they come from as the system sees Caly as recycling the most and therefore gets priority to have the most.

I mine the same exact area sometimes even as soon as every 20 minutes with no noticeable change in hit rate, diferent mineral % and overall tt return.

Sometimes the second run brings even more return than the first.

After 20 - 30 amps it averages around 95% tt.

I honestly think that what you get is independent on where you are, as long as in the same server. I never did the test myself but i'm willing to bet that if you drop 1000 probes in the same exact spot while picking up the resources as they show up, the return would be exactly the same.

dropping in the same exact spot (aka not moving) will result in continuous NRF after a few drops. biggest amount of claims i got like that was 7, after that nothing.

I don't think how some other game (Firefall) handles ore respawn really matters much. It might be useful if you had a review of a dozen or so other games (so we had perspective on how the MMO community in general performs ore respawn) or if we had some reason to think that MA would do things similar to how Red 5 Studios does things. But otherwise I don't think Firefall's mechanics add much useful info to the discussion on EU mechanics.

Also FYI, the forum discussion you referenced is pretty much out of date ... you can get current Ore depth information at mininglog.com (which is discussed at the very end of that thread). I'm not sure where current ore finder depth ranges are available ... I think Entropedia has info, although I honestly haven't been able to decode yet which online sites are current and which have out-of-date info.

I could never figure out why anyone would use this app. You have to jump through a bunch of hoops to populate their database and all the actual relevant data is not presented. Go figure....

What better app do you suggest that will automatically track where you've found ore or EM?

I use a spreadsheet. After a bit, I know what I find, where and with what finder. Anything more than that you're over thinking the problem.

CO's Mining Blog: Run, Drop, Extract, Sell, Repeat....

Obsessing about every little detail usually causes people burn out after a bit.

The main benefit of LBML is marking the circles you've already searched.

Which you can do by finding a marker and counting how long it takes to run range of the finder. Double that and you can time your drops. After a bit, you get the timing.

And as I mentioned previously, I don't obsess about overlapping and sometimes, when loot is crap, I will deliberately leave gaps between my drops....sometimes very large ones. As I also mentioned, obsessing about about spacing, etc will do you about as much good as trying to pick out individual mobs for good loot. Sometimes loot sucks, sometimes it's awesome. I can't predict it.

Somehow after 10k drops my returns are within a very close range. Loot evens out if you drop enough. That includes grinding particular servers or running in one direction from a random TP. I pretty much know what my MU returns will be after X number of drops provided the X is a fairly large number and barring an ATH. This includes times when I have had weeks of bad runs. Returns will return to a norm after a while. It's as simple as that.

So my firm belief based on years of experience and tracking every run is that anything other than running and dropping is over-thinking the whole mining issue.

If some feel that LBML will help them visualize their runs, great. Go for it. But I am wondering why high MU finds such as Gorbek, Frakite & Lotium depths are not listed.
