I had started researching a month or so before even logging in for the first time, figuring out how it all worked and trying to make sure it wasn't a scam. I was able to play for a couple years without depositing, graduating in the first system without putting in a dime and I could have actually withdrawn, but I didn't. After a while I determined it was in my best interest personally to do some small depositing, which I do, usually about $10 a month, though I try my best not to deposit at all now that I have some Calypso land deeds that bring in about the equivalent of what I was depositing. I enjoy mining and when I can afford it some crafting, but I am nowhere near an expert in crafting. I can't really say I'm an expert miner either, but I do well enough and have a good enough understanding of it. I would probably be able to teach you pretty well how to survive without depositing or how to play on a low deposit level. What knowledge I lack personally my society has in abundance, so whatever your goals there are resources to teach you how to reach them (unless of course you're thinking you can become super rich playing an online game).
