I am disgusted by the change to resource locations so much so that I may never return

Sorry for over reacting, it just tore me up realizing, after days and days of mining for hours to map it twice, once again I knew nothing about where to mine on ark. The previous spawns were so bloody messed up with so many different types that the thought of dealing with it all over again just made me crazy. Regardless of my apology, I feel slighted and probably will not return.

I have to say I feel the opposite then you do. Altho I haven't been in EU since Jan Jr started yet another never ending even on Caly I would say I welcome a change if they did what I think they did. Removing 50% of the types of things that can be found in one area will be a blessing as stack sizes and the way we target what we want to find will be much better. HOPEFULLY someone pulled their head outta their asses and set up depths now for things so everything cant be found with a Z1 tt finder. Personally I was starting to take offence seeing 3 day nub miners look shit up on LBL and getting "Lucky". As far as a common public map I think they should be out lawed as unsupported 3rd party crap. Far too many losers and abusers who don't wanna spend the time nor effort to do all that mapping are making a killing from the public maps like that. Bottom line is the reward system in this game is sooo completely fucked up its no longer funny and the more MA pulls their bullshit the worse it looks on planets like Arkadida that are actually putting an effort into making it better.

I am not really a miner. I dabble in it now and then. I am, however, a hunter. And you, sir, are mistaken.

When Calypso releases a new mob, they don't tell us where it is, or even what the new mob is. When Calypso changes mob spawns, they don't inform us. When Calypso changes mob locations, they don't tell us where the new location is.... nor do I expect them to do this. Granted, it costs me nothing more than time, some ME or oil for a vehicle to fly all over the place looking for the new mob, or trying to find that damn spawn of {insert mob name here} that they moved. And no, I am not losing peds while I spend that time looking... but I am certainly not placing myself in any sort of position to gain peds, either. (the exception is event mobs... some bit of story line tells us the general location of the event mobs... but that's it).

Sorry if you feel your time is wasted, and are taking great offense at the A-team trying to improve things. I know in real life, things NEVER change (okay, that truly was sarcasm). I wish you the best in your journeys away from this great planet, and hope you never encounter a single other change again, because it seems you don't like them. :)

I can understand a feeling that your invested time was lost, but I don't see why you would feel slighted because the Ark devs changed the ore map without getting your permission.... It's their job to keep mining a viable profession and they made the necessary changes to do that. If they had made it worse, then I could see your point, but mining was vastly improved by the recent change. It makes no sense to lament the change.

I was overjoyed by the end of the first day of mapping as the runs started coming in. If you don't love the improvement, all I can say is:

    1) you just didn't mine Ark enough before or
    2) you haven't mined enough since the change

And to answer the question about depths, yes, MU increases with depth.

Homo Sapiens did not have the big fangs of sabretooth tiger, and he couldn't run as fast as antilope or gazelle, but see where it's now?
    And, where's the sabretooth tiger?

    How's that possible?

Because Homo Sapiens is equipped with the most formidable weapon ever, the ability to learn and adapt.

I haven't mined but a few drops since the change, when I realized the ore field i'd come to mine had changed I was done. I didn't come to mine a new planet, I came to mine a field I knew was there before. So I obviously had no problem with previous spawns, since I was coming to mine it. Though that doesn't mean the new spawns aren't better, just means now my maps are all trash, time and money invested to create them all lost. I have better things to do than risk more time and money in mapping arkadia a 3rd time. No offense but I did find it possible to target particular ores using the correct depth even in the old styles, it was difficult, but I appreciated the challenge and felt it helped deter other miners with less know how.

    Dear Cyberpunk,

The new mining layout is "Arkadia for Dummies" version.

All you have to do, is spend a day unamped, to find out that there are just 9 mining sectors now + PVP zone, each containing 7 resources per category.

Somehow u got an impression that nothing will ever change in EU. This is an interesting concept!
Although i'm not a miner myself, but even as a bystander i got an impression about history of mining as a countless mapping and re-mapping, even principal changes in the way mining system itself works...

Can i quote the classics now?

    Sry couldn't resist! :D

I think I remember Calypso mining in old days. Mining maps i see in forums were done by players, not by Mindark. I understand Mindark or Arkadia or other planers owners cannot say what you can find and where.

Yeah really, I played a star wars mmorpg once which did a huge overhaul to it's system. It went from being very complex to a cookiee cutter game like WoW. That game is dead to me and most the veterans who loved it. Taking and dumbing down a system to make it easier is no way to retain players who're there overcoming the challenges. Arkadia has one thing that game didn't though, a RCE means dumbing it down or not, if it's profitable they can still push on, but easy in this game translate to TT food, easy mining fields crash markup, so we'll see. I'll be watching mininglog.com for the map to appear, it seems that it's going to be point on for where's what on arkadia.

As someone who's been in EU since 2004, all I can say is that EU is dynamic. Things change.

If you can't handle it, you should probably be playing WoW. That may sound harsh but it's true.

The only constant in EU is change, that's why I am here.

Not at all helpful to post this sort of comment. It's one thing to disagree, I don't have a problem with that. But when someone posts negative feedback it really is kinda sucky to tell them to piss off to another game.

You may see it as negative feedback, I see it as reality. It's been the one constant in EU since day 1. Either people get it or they don't.

My old boss said: "Give me someone with the right attitude and no knowledge and I will teach them. Give me someone with the wrong attitude and all the knowledge in the world and there is nothing I can do to help them."

If you come into EU feeling entitled, EU will eat you alive and you will likely leave frustrated, it's just a matter of time and how much you depo in the meantime.

    Prima donnas don't last long.

If you come into EU looking for opportunity and a path to success, you will likely find it. But that takes a lot of effort and EU WILL move the goal posts on you many times.

    Peace.

    CO

P.S. And I don't tell miners (or hunters or crafters) that they have to drop their prices so I can afford to craft. How is that helpful?

There's an extreme example, Dan Petrov put a lot of effort to skill up scanners hoping he this profession will be developed further in the future.
It wasn't developed further, so it was all useless waste of time (and money).
From his p.o.w. it's prolly hard to admit it was a risky investment right from the start...
Then again, if he would have been right he would have hit the jackpot, big time.

No risk, no reward. Bye bye WoW. Welcome to EU. :)
