I am disgusted by the change to resource locations so much so that I may never return

When arkadia was released I spent days mapping out the different mining fields and getting an idea of what is where, I had sampled the entire planet. Some time later after a break from game I came back and find that everything's changed, so, again I go out and do some sampling and build up data, not so much as the first time, but still time consuming. I go back today and it's changed again. I quit after my second claim, the hit indicating another change has occurred. I've TTed the materials so I have nothing left here and flown into space. Honestly, I just want to cuss somebody out for this, but that'll solve nothing, I'm not going to do it all over again, I'll just boycot the planet until a detailed public record of mining locations becomes available.

    Hi CyberPunk.

Sorry that the resource locations had to change on the planet again but this change was needed in order to sort out the mining on Arkadia that was a big mess and even more so after we had to add in the shared platform resources. Far to many small stacks of different resources was found in a single mining run and was not viable for the average player to build up a decent stack that can be auctioned. Due to the requirement to have something for all levels of miners and the need to reduce the amount of different resources in a area while maintaining the current resource list, the only option was to completely reshuffle and rebuild the distribution from the ground up. With the new distribution its quite simple to build up a resource map now compared to in the past.

    Regards,

    Chris

I sympathise with your situation and will be sorry to see you go. Stuff changes from time to time and there is an ongoing need to adjust and re-evaluate. I suspect the latest mining change will have been when the new rare mining loot was introduced in March. I don't expect the devs to provide detailed location info since that is not the usual practice so your best bet is to keep an eye on little big mining log.

It's not about simple today to redo what was done in the past, it's that I have 0 confidence that if I remap the planet for a 3rd time that it will still hold up in a few months. I'm not investing any more time in mapping this planet, if it's quite simple then there should be no harm in releasing it to us without costing us our time to map it for the 3rd time.

As for littlebigmininglog, it's great for telling you what's on a server, but there's 16 fileds per server, when you're looking for a particular rare, it could take a week to determine which field on that server contains it, if it even is listed on the mininglog's site, there's so many types per server listed that I don't think there's room to list everything and the rares which hit less frequently are what will be trimmed off the list.

9 x 16 = 144 mining fields worth of data which has become obsolete

And it wasn't just ores which I'd recorded either, I had mapped enmatters out as well and I don't even care much for mining enmats, so if you consider enmatter and ore fields to be individual then that's a total of 288 fields worth of data which has become obsolete.

I'm not sure how anyone can consider it "quite simple" to map out 288 mining fields, but I challenge you to do it!

I assure you we have no intentions on changing the distribution map again now that the major issue that was plaguing Arkadias mining has been resolved.

As for releasing the mining system map to players you know that we can not do that.

I'm sure you had no intentions of changing it the first two times either.

As for not being able to release the map, I'd expect no less, you don't want to lose out on the money people have to spend figuring it all out. But you're sure ok with people losing out on money they spent figuring it all out before and will spend figuring it all out again. That's greed right?

Just had to register for this thread. Hi all!
I've had a long long time away from PE/EU.
Always missed the mining though. So when I came back to EU it was clear that I would become a full time miner.

With space and all I've been all over the place, ore dropping and eye dropping.
I came to Arkadia the first time in february this year.

Did my usual prospecting to find out where things where located.
First I thought it was some random issue that my first run contained 24 differant enmatter and ore types.
But it continued, and after 10 runs I had an average of 19 types/area.

And as Chris said, this was not working for me at all.
Having tons of mini stacks in the storage waiting to build up was just to tedious.
After some preliminary search the average/area is now down to 10 types/area.

I also noticed the complete reshuffling.
My first reaction was the same as CyberPunks

But I have two questions regarding this.
    1. How come it was designed like this from start?
    2. What happened to the 27 differant types that I havent been able to find any longer, since june?

But in contrary to CyberPunk I will return just because this work was done.
Now it resembles mining as I am used to :D

Oh come on Cyber, don't you think thats being a little unfair? I've always known you to be a very reasonable chap so I'm a bit surprised that you've taken such a one-eyed stance now.

Fact is, MA change things within the system all the time (we've all grown accustomed to this over the years) and then the PP's are left with 2 choices, either make a change to bring things back into line with what they originally planned or leave things the way they are and ride the reaction from the playerbase.

Each time I've seen big changes made on Arkadia (Herman weapons range and mining for example) its been because the Ark Studio guys are trying to make things fairer or easier or more consistent for the players after some platform change has been made.

I do take your point on the cost in time and probes mapping it all out, but do you honestly believe that they don't take that into account when they make a big decision like they have and that they are doing it based on pure greed?

Anyway, just my 2pec in any case, make of it what you will.

I can understand how the changes are good for the player base and the intentions of the developers were good in doing the changes. My comment about greed was in reference to after twice changing things now MA/Ark Team/Whoever claims they "can't release a map of the changes", I think the reasoning behind that is pure greed yes. To give the data out freely to the public would not create any advantage or disadvantages between players, it would only decrease revenue for the company since players wouldn't be forced to remap like they are now. That's the whole point of this thread, I'm not remapping again, if you want me to come mine ark, give me a map, you've destroyed mine twice now, least you could do is give me a replacement.

Dont worrier Cyber i get same RAGE as your have now but after yes after thousands drops everything is more clear
If your dont wish spend peds mining in ark i thankfull since have more plenty areas to me ;)

I done all arkadia map again i think 1 week after patch , all layers , and types
And ArkTeam Realy dont want your release map because somes MAD players dont have patience to remap
*But i have agree if your mess up fields every 6 moth or less be mad , i expect usual 1yr 1yr6moth before another change

Most basic TIP i hear over years

I don't understand the big deal and the complaining about mapping. Use LBML, set the filter to after the date of the last update, and it will log the resources for you. You can then check the map on LBML and see what is where. Very simple. Now if you were complaining about how crappy the mining has been, I could feel for ya on that topic

I've done that and more, twice now already, both times experiencing stupid hofs with shit markup, in the long run you're losing ped hitting claims without markup. I've spent the time and money already mapping, risking hoffing on *insert low markup ore name here* to ensure in the future I stay out of areas which have no markup and that my runs will have a higher likelihood of profiting. I target markup when I mine, mapping isn't targetting markup, I know where I can get markup on other planets, though there may be fields on arkadia which would interest me to mine in, I'm not willing to risk dealing with an 800 ped hof of blaus or worse AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME unless I know I'm pulling up some rares with it too, which I would've known before the changes. I'll spend my time mining where I know, give me a map (which I've, as well as most miners, already earned imo), so I know what I'm mining and I'll maybe mine ark again. I for one would rather get an NRF than shit markup.

Fair enough Cyber, I do see and understand where you're coming from in a financial sense. One problem I see Ark handing out a map of mining resources though is that it wouldn't stop there. Next you would have the Hunters demanding some sort of "map" for them and then the crafters wanting their equivalent too....

I'm afraid it looks like it'll end up as one of those classic "can't please everyone all of the time" type of situations.....

I guess the main thing is you are not happy and you are leaving Arkadia and you've made the effort to tell the Devs why. So thanks for that. Far better you let them know, even if it is a little acerbic, than just disappear and no one knows why.

Good luck on the other planets.

When Calypso releases new mobs they give the locations, if you moved mobs around I think you'd probably make mention of it too.

Hunters are always taken care of.

It doesn't really matter, initially I was implying I'd be back to mine once some players formed together a good detailed map, but I don't see that happening either, you need dedicated miners who're willing to work hard and share the fruits of their labor to the public, which is unlikely.

I can't imagine crafters complaining much if you hand out a resources map, they will be able to use it too or at least benefit by the supply of materials and besides, when did you ever screw over crafters and hunters like you've done to miners lol.

Seriously you compare a mob location map with mining resource map? If you are stuck on comparing Mobs and Resources you should compare Mob Loots and Resources.

Also as Vadio writes above expect things to change now and then, and if it's this hard to redo your map you should be making tons of peds once you have it as you would be one of the few who done the work and then also be sure to share it publicly like you suggest others should do

    And 2 claims, really?

You don't think the miners who have "mapped" the planet will be a bit mad if all players suddenly got the information handed to them for free from Arkadia? Would that not only make more players mad? Searching and finding where to find the different types of ores and enmatters is one of the fun thing with mining, this information should not be given away totally free in my opinion.

Bingo. I've done it twice, and already have started doing it again. Things usually change for a reason, move on.
