I don't even know why they post numbers on mobs... they're not helpful. Take them away and give a use to the investafoe scanner.

They were first added to please the casual gamer to make the game easier for them. I think they were a bad idea, but unfortunately MA made an algorithm to determine which level each mob gets, and the algorithm is a bit flawed since i sometimes get killed by lvl 20 mobs but can easily handle other lvl 40 mobs. Think it would be better if planet partners themselves could add the level on mobs, but i guess that would be bad as there would be differences between levels on planets.

What mobs you can take depend on damage type and the armor you're wearing. It also takes into account things like regen and agro. For example, there's a mob on Rocktropia that's like L23 or so... They have extremely low health (1-2 shots with an Opalo will kill them) but have super high regen and they hit kinda hard. Carabok hit like the punies on Calypso but are faster.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Just because you can't figure out how the number is generated does NOT mean it can't be useful. It absolutely is. Even if it's only to compare the jump in stats between maturities of a mob (eg L23 Oweko Young vs L25 Oweko Mature or L8 Feran Young vs L10 Feran Stalker). As for using the Lx to decide what to hunt, I agree that's a bad idea. However, there's more use to that Lx value.

How about this for determining mob danger level:

Grab a troop of naked noobs and surround the mob. The mob level is the number of noobs that it can kill in two minutes. :dark:

Sorry, I should rephrase... When considering what mob to hunt, you should consider more than the L value. I should have said to go only by that would be a bad idea. Or at least not the best idea...

And I do have some ideas on using the L value for more, but it requires testing before saying too much.

This is something I see a lot. If I am not getting any hides I typically do not hunt, but when I do get hides it is either a constant or a major drop over 20 minutes to an hour. So I can see that work. So profitability is all based on what is dropping at the time of Carahunting

Yeah on the Cara I noticed that as well. However can't say that about all mobs.

Mob L just seems to be an indicator of that particular mobs L......an L10 carabok would be more difficult than an L2......L14 oratan greater than L10.......I don't see any other use for it whatsoever. there are other fast mobs now that are lower L and more difficult than Carabok. While I'm here, has anyone noticed a difference between the L4 carabok and the last L10? seems just is fast. Can't really tell tho. Any thoughts would be great

A general point about armour versus mob type...

I've found that some surprisingly big mobs can be handled if the armour you're wearing is well matched to the mob. A good example is Shogun versus either atrox or riptor (frankly, I don't really see a difference other than their looks). Both mobs have 3 damage types all of which are protected against by this armour. On the other hand, oweko are very difficult for me in the same armour.

Regarding the actual thread subject - Can anyone tell me where there is a good dense spawn of carabok? I need to use up some junk low-level BLP guns. :)
