Being a new player I'm unsure which items are vendor trash and which should be held on to for trading and the ah. Just in general, because I'd hate to get rid of an item of value.

for most items, right click > market value. this should show the worth, it's up to you to keep it until you have high enough amounts to sell (if stackables). The more ped you have, the bigger stacks you can get, and something that might not be worth the time saving on a 100 ped card might be on a 1000 ped card, and same for higher.

best option for me: use all ped on card. then sell the stacks i need to sell to make my next runs. rince and repeat.

Hold everything - and if you are very low on ped tt from the cheap side.

This is good advice. Also never TT 0 ped items for sure.

Though if you decide to do that, you will receive invisible fractions of peds.

Only thing I would TT is weapon cells if using BLP or BLP Ammo packs if you use Weapon Cells. You get a 1 to 1 trade off on that.

Anything and everything else, put in storage, your vehicle storage or whatever you have to do to keep it.

101% MU doesn't sound like much. But if you had 1000 PED of that stuff, you would get 10 PED. Its all relative.

The biggest challenge I find is finding buyers for the things. As long as you have a little bottom left (in PED of course) save the stuff. You never know when you might find one.

In practice, most hunters do what Yquem suggested... stack up as much as you can and sell/use the stacks. When you can't auction anything else and have no more peds, then TT the low MU stuff that you know from experience will not be worth the effort or time to sell. If you're very patient then you can sell "junks" like wool cloth, oil residue, electronic components, and get a few extra peds above TT. But when out of cash and wanting to hunt, most people will just TT these (not saying you should, merely that most people do it).

BTW, don't TT animal oil residue... keep it in the economy even if you sell to a crafter at 100% since it's used to craft useful things (weapons, tools) which you will be buying later.

Thanks for all the replies, a most helpful community like this one is important with a game of this much depth and variety.

Most crafters who use stuff will pay you something for your looted stuff. NEVER sell to a crafter or reseller offering just tt.. They are taking advantage of you no matter how low the MU is on the item. Trust me they WILL make extra money on their items so make sure you get your piece of the pie. Use trade channel in the populated places to ask about crafters are on sporadically and spontaneously decide to craft things depending on materials. As far as the new animal parts go, contact Kikkijikki here on the forums he is looking for many of the new parts and he can tell you what he needs on a regular basis.

All good advice. I will TT a lot of loot even if it has a small markup because it is just not worth my time trying to sell to a crafter or trader, or worth the auction fees. With the last VU however, a lot of hunting loot has gone up due to the Viceroy armor. Check out the thread here in the forum on the mats necessary to trade Bill for the set, you will see most of the loot has increased in value, which is good for us hunters!

Actually I'd disagree. I don't think most crafters make money.

What CB is saying is that the Trader/Crafter buying things at tt will make more on their stuff then if they payed mu, simple as that. No matter if they sell at a loss or not

Well, what I am trying to do (with some success already) is finding buyers for my hunting loot that I know will pay a "set" price for items.

Then focus on one mob as much as possible, making sure you have the IFN missions for that mob, and hunt them almost exclusively to limit the "spread" of items to what that one particular mob drops.

Then, as you are able, hold onto it till you find someone to buy it or get a contact that will always buy it even if its only 1 of the item.

After that, its all how good or bad the hunts are really.

For a player just starting out, I really have to say the auction is only for buying, not selling. The amounts of things plus the low level of what it is normally just won't make the fee worth paying, especially as you may have to pay it 2 or 3 times and wait a week to get your PED (or several weeks).

To me, and this is just my uninformed, newbie opinion mind you, I must rather sell player to player and chat some at the local TP that serves as the trading post. (Quarry on Ark)

This gives me a chance to at least be better known by the main players, find those contacts I know I can sell things to for sure and at what markup, and see others doing the same. Also I can find items and ask questions in game. You would love the fact most all players are happy to give advice and share notes/experiences.

And frankly, its more fun to me, this is an MMO rather then a me vs the computer game for a reason after all. Heh

    you didn't see kikkijikki's thread? :)
I think most profit for regular crafters is in looting blueprints, ofc any real crafter will craft with the new blueprints instead of selling them :)
