    Hey everyone,

You can easily guess that I am new and this game look amazing and being able to use real money in the game looks awesome.

But Id like to know a few things before I jump in the world of this game. In the corner of my head, something tell me this is a scam, so Id like to know if I can really trust this or noThen is it possible to have multiple character? (Even if Im a guy, I like to have 1 male and 1 female character, if you play a lot of MMO games, youll understand why)

How should I get started? I dont want to put a lot of money in that game (none if possible) and I wont really withdraw the money from the game (but it will happen). What can I do in this game? What can I become?

Also, I looked at the launcher, and in the tolls we can choose which planets to download. Can someone explain me this? Do I have to download one or it is competly optional. And if its not optional, which one do I have to download to play the game?

And do you have any hints for a new player? Anything that become common sense when you play this game, but may not come to the mind of a new player.

I know there is the guide section for those questions, but I prefer to get answers from the community, this way I get informations directly from those who play and I can ask more questions :p

Thank you guys, and if you want an awesome guy to play with, ask me to join you in the game! I speak French and English (english is not my native language, but I can easily speak it. I think... I have a microphone, unlimited download and upload and a computer!

    Cya!

    Bird, out!

    Hello and welcome :)

This is definitely not a scam. You can lose a lot of money here but it would be totally because of your own wrong decisions and actions. Just like in RL.

You are not allowed to have more than 1 avatar, it is in EULA.

This world is single, so no matter on what planet you'll start you can visit all other places. Traveling between planets is done through the space, so you'll need to own a spaceship or hire a taxi, and takes from minutes to hours depending on the vehicles. If your disk or network capacity is limited, it's ok to download only the planet you're going to start on, but you should download others before going there.

Once you started, there will be a newbie mission chain to explain you the basics. After that find yourself a mentor and a good soc (there are plenty of French speaking ones if you'd like that) and you'll be ok. Of course you shouldn't deposit money before you clearly understand what you can and want to do :)

I've played other MMO's but can't say I am an expert. so I want to understand why someone wants to be a male and female while playing. the game is tough enough without me keeping track if my avatar is one or the other.

Anyways, the game is for real and it is what you make it out to be.

What are the societies exactly? Are they huge group of people or it can be compared to any gaming team (like 10 members or something). Do you know one or more that speak french?

They are like clans of guilds in other MMOs, there are as big as hundreds of members and as small as half a dozen. Some have some agendas and requirements, other have none, and there are hundreds of them, so isn't hard to find something that suits you. Socs are good for quick help, for having a chat going while you're hunting/mining somewhere in the wild, for finding hunting parties etc. You can have all that just using the friendlist and private messages, with socs it's just more convenient.

You can leave a soc any time and join another one, so anything big enough is good to start with before you meet more people.

Ok, but other than being a group of player that can talk to each other, what are the advantages of being in a soc?

Is there a society of people who want to fight, and be like mercenaries of militaries?

Well, I guess most socs are of people who want to fight, except maybe for some that poses themselves as mining socs, but every miner is a bit of a hunter too, since there are very few places where you can walk without a gun.

There are socs of pirates who loot people in space, but nobody loves them :)

Apart from socializing there probably isn't any advantage of being in a soc. There are situations where a soc is a must, like landgrabs, where people fight for control over landareas, but that's a completely different level of gameplay, with 4-5 digits of $ worth of gear and skills.

    Welcome >^.^<

Each world has plus and minuses each is a separate company running within the mindark systems of entropia universe.

Whichever world you chose make sure to find a mentor in your own time zone if possible to help walk you through learning the game. Mentor and disciple both get an award on graduation.

I prefer Planet Arkadia due to the awesome development company / staff and the quality of new stuff we get.

second choice would probibly be calypso because its oldest and biggest planet with most players and economy.

Key to remember is all activities that give ped back cost on average more ped to do. Profit / break even is from selling your loot / craft for markup to other players.

So what is the best way as a beginner to start making enough profit to be able to continue progressing at a good rate and possibly being able to make even more profit later?

Oh damn, you failed the test, you said the word "profit" within the first 4 posts on the forum :p

Do you realize that all money in this game are real, they don't come from thin air, it's not some "gold" that you can farm in other MMO. The ingame currency, PED (Project Entropia Dollars), is tied to USD at 10:1. For you to earn 1 ped someone have to lose it. If you play against the game you always lose (or "pay for entertainment", as some put it, which still means you came with money and went without). Your only chance to gain is to play against other players, trying to gain what they lose, and that takes knowledge, experience, skills, money.

A relatively safe (as long as you do your research and know what you do) money-making activity is trading, the good old "buy low, sell high", if it won't kill you with boredom. But it still needs a starting capital.

Ah yes, you can play totally for free. For that we have such a thing as "sweating", gathering bottles of sweat (substance used for crafting) from mobs. 1000 bottles currently worth like 1.5-2 ped ($0.15-0.2) and it takes up to 3 hours to gather this amount, which you probably won't find too exciting unless an average income there where you live is less than 30$/month :). But hundreds of people do that all their time, some do that for years and some even think it's fun.

Well, if you can't or don't want to deposit money and have a lot of free time, sweating really can be considered a method to gain you the starting money to trade with later (not to hunt, because they'll just ran out in few minutes, and that's it). But just a $10 deposit would save you from a week of that activity.

Read the guides that are available. They are written by players for players and save us going over the same ground for each new player. I guarantee you will still have questions and people will be happy to answer them. In particular I recommend Alice's guide http://rp.apachenet.de/downloads/Entropia_Universe_Guide.pdf

    Regards,

That looks like a good guide, but I guess that if I want to learn how to play first I should get a mentor (and also leave the start area...).

I looked at the mentor section, but does anyone know someone who speak french and would be willing to be a mentor?

haha yeah ive seen this one a lot of time, but my name actualy come from Tobuscus

Salut, Bird. Although it's another planet's forum, if you're interested in French or fellow Quebecois, you might search the Planet Calypso forum's Society threads. You can be part of a society no matter what planet it is created on.

I would check out this thread, and see if Neil is still looking for miners. It gives you a risk-free start to the game.

Well, if I never get to see the people I talk with, I dont see the point of talking to them. of course I get to know people, but they are a bit far. Being with people that speak french is only a plus for me, but I can be with people who speak english too, its just easier for me to understand, and sometime im lazy when it come to translate in my head :p

    Thank you, this looks interesting!

Sure you'll see them. People travel all the time - to hunt/mine specific mobs/minerals, to participate in events on other planets, to buy or sell resources, or just to change the scenery. Last week I visited 4 planets in one day to help my disciples.
