floppy disks! amiga 500! and the best sci-fi game ever!! Captain Blood!! i found this game so amazing back in the olden days! nothing but fond memories! and i never did finish it (i dont even think i found one clone) just loved getting on the galaxy map aligning the coordinates! entering hyperspace to the next world! really liked persuading the aliens to come aboard the ark! then i would kill them by ejecting them into space and blowing their planet up for good measure fun times!!! I loved my Amiga 500. Lemmings would have had to have been one of my favorite games along with Cannon Fodder. Before that, i had a Sinclair ZX Spectrum...And as i recall, Dan Dare was my favorite on that.
Not forgetting Ikari Warriors. I could finish that without loosing a single life. I remember playing Captain Blood, once on an Atari ST and on an Amstrad.
Yeah! Ikari Warriors loved the soundtrack to it! sounded great on the amiga! some of the best chip music ever!! came out of my amiga! 8-bit goodness.............. and its great recrating it via a midi-keyboard the feelings of nostalgia i get are awesome!.....actually people have told me that the atari st was better musically than the amiga (maybe it was dont know never have one) though! my Gameboy beats both!!! ............. for audio awesomeness..
I confess I spent many hours playing Bubble Bobble on my Amiga. Never did manage to complete lvl 100. http://www.classicgamesarcade.com/game/21605/bubble-bobble.html Also much joy playing The Bards Tale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bard's_Tale_(1985_video_game)
I remember playing a game called Solstice on the NES... it was such a looooooonnnnggg game with many puzzles... and of course, no save functionality whatsoever, which was ok, until we had a power outage... I never did finish that game
Mine started when I got my first console.. It had pong and super break out on it..It all went downhill fast after that. The Donkey Kong and Defender and Missle Command stand alones at the corner store..Then it was Rygar on the super nes after I boke my leg and was outta work for nearly 9 months snce the break was not set right the first time. Then came the original Warcraft series and Diablo on into Starcraft and then the switch to online with Dark Age of Camelot. Then the ultimate digression into oblvion here in EU.
Xenomorph this was one of only a few games on the amiga500 i actually finished..................
X-com enemy unknown and terror from the deep... played those two to death Favorites after that Morrowind and Operation Flashpoint (especially expansions) These days Entropia all the way although I do pick up all the games for the X-box that takes my fancy. Oh yeah spent a great deal of time on Baldurs Gate 2 and Arcanum hehe
Got it already did one play through on medium difficulty... I want to try the extreme difficulty but time is not on my side... exams, entropia, SWTOR going f2p on wednesday... I wish there was more then 24 hours in the day hehe.
I have two memorable moments both in Entropia. 1st was when Leafren from cK took me out hunting handing me an ML-35 and a MOD FAP and ammo and we got like 5 globals in 60 min on Formidom and handing back the mod fap and ml-35 back at the end. Felt awesome to be trusted with that stuff. 2nd Was back when you could sit on in an apartment and continue to pk and revive kill people coming off the teleport in one of the cities on amethera. Me and some soc mates sat below the apt window taunting while Noggin went up with his new PIG shotgun going apt to apt to find them then blew them all away and we revive killed them for a while.
First "Moment" that springs to mind was the fingerprinting part of the first phoenix wright game. You sprinkle the powder using your stylus on the surface to be finger printed, then physically blow it away. A superb interface! In Entropia it would be the day Entropia was slashdotted following the CND sale. Soooo many new people that night everyone was being dropped in random locations to avoid congestion and the client loader web page was more or less DoS'd making it very hard to log in. Had a lot of fun going round finding all the new groups who banded together into self help groups. Fantastic atmosphere that night really amazing, not seen anything like it since. Other games, most recently Portal 2 ending. Somehow it induced me into a panic but I still did the right thing. Was very impressed with the design carried out in order to create that situation! Wistrel
Just recently decided to play morrowind! running with the Sounds and Graphics Overhaul mod - http://www.moddb.com/mods/morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics - i skipped over morrowind just settling for oblivion and later skyrim! but when i first got outside off the boat into the new look morrowind WOW! what a treat for the eyes and ears! definitely a very memorable gaming moment..... frogger was an early favourite and defintely Elite on the BBC which at the time was an awesome game, manual docking was a nightmare. Later micro machines on the mega drive but the one I played most was Grand Turismo on the PS1 when it came out, I played that game to death. More recently, the first time I played EU, it was like "ah this what elite would become"
