I've been playing for about three weeks now. When crafting, the menu shows I have a 62% success rate. I have made five hundred items now, usually 75-100 at a time, but my REAL success rate comes out to only 25%. What gives?

How about some damn realisitic success rates so I am not so eager to throw away my damn money. And don't try to tell me it was just a ton of bad luck streeks. Over time, averages come out to just that, averages.

Can someone please explain or is this just MA's plot to get people to waste their money?

Here is perfect example for you. Check out the pictures. Do the math. Definately nowhere close to what carabok texture should be. I know this is only one very small example, but this is what my crafting looks like all the time!

The % shown on the manufacturing terminal does not refer to the chance of success. Although that % will move higher as your skill level and blueprint rating increases, you will never achieve a chance of success above 42%. The 42% figure is not shown anywhere, but is the product of a lot of research and testing by crafters on Calypso many years ago. To my limited knowledge, it still holds true (with the exception of certain types of blueprints like enhancers). A crafter also has a large number of 'near successes' where materials, residues, and blueprints are returned/received, thus making up the rest of a crafter's tt returns vs tt spent. It is believed that with a maxed blueprint and proper skill level, you will achieve approximately 92% tt returns (vs tt spent) over the long run.

Someone with more crafting knowledge than me would have to provide any further details, as I'm not a crafting expert.

the % of success that is shown is the % of non-failed attempts, any time you get anything back it is considered a success by the system. all "near success" and "success" are considered the same in the percentage.

Once you finished your crafting run, check the statistics and put them into excel then you will see what Sidxx said is correct. As for the success percentage, I get an average of over 45% from a qr 100 bp and I do anywhere from 5k to 10k clicks a day.
Bobbyk (or Barby), I would suggest that you get a good mentor if you havent yet. Most people would never click from any bp with such a low success rate. (The low success rate is from you not having enough skills to maximize that bp's potential & its low qr)

Ok, so basically the success rate percentage given is for success and near success. I just think there could be a tooltip when moving your cursor over it that explains this a bit better. Anyone playing the game that hasn't seriously researched crafting would think 60% success rate would mean just that, 60% success, not including near success.

Thanks for the explanation and I will try to find more information as to the exact "real" success values when crafting in the future.

Very misleading for new players... I have a mentor and a society that is very helpful already and never thought to ask about something that seemed so straight forward, but now I know the "real" deal. Thanks again for the replies!

Didn't read the entire thread but there was a crafting study done by some famous mathy type people who craft thousands of dollars every run with very high skills. They determined the best crafting over all success rate IF everything was perfect with skills, maxed bp, right position you face correct machine..etc to be 42% sooo factor in your skills and bp's and figure out what % return you are getting of that max 42% success rate.
