MA will have to do something with the Pets and the Taming profession as well. Pets previously were little more than a shiny object for people to display as they had no use (and using them to advertise things was just plain silly and annoying).

If they actually make tamig usable and have real function here would be my take on it all..

    1. Only youngs of tameable species can be tamed.
    2. Certain species are rideable only, certain are fighting only, and others are simple pack animals.
    3. Taming profession entails animal training. Only trained tamers can "Level" a pet. EX... player uses pet for x amount of time to gain skill. Once that skill is maxed Trainer must take pet for Xamount of training to aquire next level. Then animal is returned to owner automaticly upon reaching next level by tamer.
    4. Pack animals require feeding and lodging. Riding animals require rest periods and physical care. Fighting animals require immediate heals (like structural damage) but also dedicated rest time to recoup (tt health).
    5. Once a pet is traded / sold to its first owner it is bound to that owner. Any trainer qualified to reach next level can train but a pet can only have one owner in its life time.

    1. Just make it progressively hard to tame higher ranked species. Similar to leveling just make it so ridiculously hard that most tamers wouldn't want to.
    2. Personally, I'd prefer that all species have certain skills and abilities that are basic to all species at different levels of minimum and maximum potential. (Carrying, Fighting ability) Then have certain skills and abilities limited to certain species. (Rideable, Fetching, Transformative growth, Pack fighting) Then have certain species that can not have certain skills and abilities. (Like can't fight or can't carry anything)
    3. I'm not sure I fully understand what you are trying to say. ...and now that I have read number 5, I disagree with this too. An owner should be able train a pet just at a slower rate with limitations based on their training skills.
    4. All pets should require feeding, and lodging. If pet is injured, it must be healed. If pet is exhausted it must have a rest period.
    5. Don't like it. I'd rather have a loyalty to owner bar that slowly increases for how long an owner owns a pet and the ability to trade pets. ...with something like long time ownership pets gaining extra loyalty based skills and abilities.

6..P.S. Have some pets that Imprint on owners to satisfy Bill's number 5.

I've already seen some people on here saying they'd take things like small birds as pets. That means some people don't want help when they're out and about, but something small and cute just for fun, that's fine, but I was thinking, if you had a bird as a pet, wouldn't that be capable of seeking things for you? (no not mining or spotting the most likely loot) If you find yourself behind a wall of animals and cant find a way through, could a bird fly up higher and let you see where the enemys are and help you find animal herds that you might not see? Of course on Arkadia they could be killed for doing this since there are real enemy's that dont like spys, but that's the risk of owning any pet and putting them in harms way.

I can see that happening on Arkadia.. sending your bird into the air and having an Oratan spot it with his scoped gun. Follow it slowly as he aims... and then buzz... bird falling out of the sky with ava's vision blurring. LoL

Realy cool stuff, first i realy wish taming was back and that we can use animals to other things than a big sign.
If that i to hard atm i would settle down whit just some animals to whip and tame, its been years now so we realy deserve some development :soangry:

Pets with ability to pull Ox carts around... Make mobile selling stations so you can move them from one town to another and display your wears in predefinded public areas. ie. Celeste square can handle like 10+ carts in it , sanc cove 5 or 6, 8 coins 10+ etc. for example. But you can drive them from one town to another if you have a pet. Only be able to setup your cart for sale if there is an open area to place your cart. You would also have to fight through mobs if they are in the way to get them to the different trade areas, you would not be able to pick up the cart and put it in inv. you would need the pet to pull it. Be silly I know carry a spaceship in your pocket but can't fit a small cart in a pocket but could be a reason to own a pet.

Make pets function as shopkeepers as well.

That way when you see them lagging up the city atleast theyll serve some purpouse and sell stuff while being cute :)

I see other day some old stables in Calypso. I think when pet return, they need stables for "sleep" when they are not active. Can Cyrus or someone from develop team if we will have stables in Arkadia? And some mobs for tame?

We'll have to wait until we get details from MA about taming to find out whether stables will be required or not. I'm eagerly looking forward to the return of taming/pets but can't give any details as to when that will be.

David or Cyrus, can you give us an idea whether there are any new Arkadian whips in the pipeline?

Taming, and other uses is a great idea. Im sorry I came after it left, but since the ability itself remains, I imagine it will come back, hopefully soon. Riding is an excellent idea. Flying? How about taming space mobs? Im suprised the weaponization of tamed creatures wasn't explored. Weapons, armors, special skills for tamed versions are all possible. Or sniffers for miners. Or good luck pets for crafters.

The aforementioned uses as shopkeepers, guard dogs, and attack animals are all good ones. I think this should depend on the type of creature tho. If one is supposed to be a shopkeeper, shouldn't it be a smart one? Do mobs have artificial intellegence ratings?

    How about trained robots? Reprogramming?

But then again, I want to be a lumberjack, and we cant cut the trees!

I think it's safe to say taming is too difficult to implement on this engine....
