So I completed a few quests now and received absolutely no reward! For example, the Archeologist HQ quest where you go all over the map locating 5 different people. I finally get done and go turn it in, and I get nothing. If this is how the quests work in this game, then I will never do another one again. They could at least give you 1 PED or something! Cmon! I know other quests for shooting certain mobs give you skill points, but it seems any other quests you get nothing and it is pointless for me to do them. Is this really intended?!
What do you expect out of a RCE game? If they simply gave peds for doing easy quests then there would be gold farmers and they'd lose a fortune.
pointless? so you got no new TPs, didn't learn anything about the map, mob locations or what mobs to avoid and so on? and fine no problem in not doing any missions, hunt/mine/craft for markup instead or for fun no one is forcing anyone into doing any missions.
It is true not all quest give rewards in this game but as Jennifer mentioned most of those quests are to get you out and exploring. Usually exploring does not cost anything to do besides time and if you walk you can still pick up things off the ground for free which some of it sells for good markups other stuff not so much, that should be reward enough I would think. But they just can't give out rewards to people that can do things that don't cost anything in return or as Sub-Zero said there would be farmers doing the missions over and over with alternate accounts just to rake in the rewards for not spending anything to do them. I know there is the beer garden and oil rigs that give out free stuff but they are all in PVP and sometimes not the easiest to get with all the other players competing for the stuff. So in a way it is not being really given away for free and it is not promoting making alternat accounts to keep farming the same rewards which is against MA EULA. Now one of the great features of this game is it is considered an true open sandbox game where you can choose to do any action you want, you are not forced to do quests, complete missions, or whatever so you can get to the next level or next stage. You can pretty much go anywhere and do anything anytime depending on your PED card balance and your skill level instead. It is fine to not do the quests but recommended to pick them all up just in case you do finish one on the way you can take in the rewards that are offered. But by completing that mission, and the starter mission you pretty much have explored 50+% of the map, if you had not done them you would probably still be only at the quarry still on that same small island doing the same things so those missions did get you out exploring and get you familiar with what else is in store for later on in your EU career while on Arkadia. You now can say I once saw this one mob here wonder if I can take it on now, I know where it is now, or you meet a person and they say can we meet at blah teleporter and you can say yup all thanks to going there while exploring doing that one mission. So saying it was for nothing is really not true.
I understand the point made about gold farmers, but how about giving quest rewards that have 0 PED value, like a weapon or armor, that can still be used? Point is, I want something for my time spent doing the quests. Not just TP points and stuff off the ground on my way.
Some - a very small number of - quests are set up to teach you about the game or the world. In game help supplied by the platform is minimal and new players didn't really know how to proceed in a sandbox environment like this, being more used to the hand-holding in traditional MMOGs. So these quests do one of: - show you a little about the main activities - show you the back story - show you the world. Weapons and armour that have 0 ped value can't be used owing to the game mechanics of the platform. Now some of the new player missions do give some free gear with some TT value but they can't be traded or sold back to TT (for peds) so that stops gold farmers from exploiting with multiple avatars. Back when Arkadia launched, there was a competition associated with the "find the archeologists" mission and the winners received prizes. You do benefit from these missions. It's just not financial. You get knowledge that helps you in your game play. Sure there are other ways to get this sort of knowledge. You could get a mentor. You could read various guides. If you don't want to do these missions then that's fine. Check the ACA and instance mission brokers for some missions that give rewards. Regards, KikkiJikki
I have been playing PE / EU for over 8 years and when I first went to Arkadia I was very impressed with the "beginner missions" , they give you a great "tutorial" and a boot strap to get you going. When I first started you had to figure out everything on your own or from your Mentor if you were lucky enough to find a good one. There were no "freebies" or equipment giveaways -- you either sweated or deposited. Yes --- there was the oil rig in PVP --- but as a noob I couldn't go near the place. So I give the Dev Team and the Ark organizers / owners a lot of credit on what they have done for their missions. They are very straight forward and easy to follow for any new player. .... and just like anything else in life you don't get rewarded for every action you take ...
The archaeologist quest that you mentioned was for a competition just after Ark launched I think. The one item that can be traded is the Calypso Valk which also doesn't have movement decay or so I was lead to believe on another forum.
More specifically, you expect something with trade or skill value. Well, as you're seeing, that isn't available on all missions. There is ample information in this forum detailing what missions rewards are. To save yourself disappointment in the future, I recommend researching as much as possible before your next mission fest. Good luck.
i kind of agree on both points. You can't have rewards of value cause ppl would just make millions of accounts and rip off the system. Even a knife at 0.00001 TT that could do 300 hp of dmg before it was used up. What i would like in "free" missions is the reward to be learning more storyline. Maybe with the addition of cut scenes it would unlock cut scenes for you to watch or learn more about something and maybe lead you to another mission that wasn't "free"
