A Tribute to our friend and fellow DJ - John Oxbrough who sadly passed away yesterday 12th April 2013.

Taken from us at the young age of 36 after a very sudden infection . I thought I should post here as he was one of the founders of Normandie Radio and played a big part in the radio some times be it behind the scenes due to ill health which has seen him in and out of hospital over the last two years.

Myself and Wendy will be attending his funeral representing NR and all the people and friend's that knew him from Entropia Universe through his radio shows.

John was a true gentleman and a dear friend of mine whom I met 6 years ago when he came to DJ at a club we owned in Second Life. Our passion for music lead us to become good friends to the point where we would talk on the phone quite often. We classed each other as family and have lots of giggles and laughs with each other to the point he would quite often throw me under the bus while live on air as I did to him also. Words cannot describe how we all feel about John and his sad and sudden passing . If I can take anything from the pain were feeling is that he is no longer in pain himself.

I just wish you all could see the great and wonderful post's on his facebook wall of what people thought of John as it's outstanding as he touched so many peoples hearts and expected nothing in return.

A true friend and gentleman one day we will meet again until then God bless, you will live on in our hearts and in the radio jingles you made for us my friend...

Having known John only since my start at Normandieradio I can not speak much on personal relationship with him like many others who's lives he had touched. I do know this from the short time I have known him and that he was an incredible example of a human being. How he was able to move forward in life with all the setbacks life had handed him with his health issues he still managed to put others first in what he did. From the way he treated you as a friend from day one, to the openness of who he was, to the giving he did for other people in need in the many ways he was able to do so. I know he has done a lot of work for charityboth thru his life within the church community as well as all the things he did during his radio career. I feel badly over how such a soulful person such as John had to live here on earth and how people treated him at times. I only hope that John is now rewarded for all that he was where ever he may be and that he is free to be who and what he wanted without the
confines of physicality. I hope he is able to dance to the music that was his life and look back at it all and be proud of who he is to all who's lives he touched and was part of.

I only had the privilege to know you for a very short time John. We didn't get to talk all that much with your hospital trips coming so frequent but the talks we did get to have about life, music, family, friends, and the crazy world you were stuck in. I enjoyed those times as to me you are a truly gentle soul and a good friend to have. I take inspiration for my own issues in how you dealt with yours and I thank you very much for having a different outlook then one would expect with all you were dealing with. I know I will miss you around and I am both glad and blessed to have met you mate. Rest well and be the "Person" you always wanted to be since you were not allowed to be as free as you wished while here with us.

I hadn't known you very long John, but on the few times I did spend more than a few minutes talking to you, I found you to be one of the most patient, gentle and genuine people I have ever had the honour to be associated with. You really took the time to explain things that someone with you time and experience would take for granted, but a layman such as myself found incredibly challenging. For that you will always stand out from the crowd in my memory.

Such a shame that your light here has been extinguished so soon mate, but I'm sure you will shine even brighter now, wherever you may be.

He was my friend. I didn't know John for very long...maybe a year and 1/2 but he was good to me and I admired him. There are many words one can say when a family member passes on to the next life, though not many are very meaningful or soothing. We have lost a good man and our hearts are aching as we grieve for him and his family.

He was my friend! These words mean more to me than all other words that can be spoken.

He is in peace now and we can take comfort in that. Gone but NEVER forgotten. Lost but FOREVER loved.

I don't remember ever meeting John, but I'm sure he was a top bloke. So sad, he's only a year older than me, my thoughts to his immediate and extended family, the latter including all his mates at Normandie Radio and in Entropia. RIP, sir, you'll be missed.

A year younger than me. How tragic this news is.

My friends here in EU are my family too. Those of you that knew him have my deepest sympathies.

    Hi,

Frightening at what a rate such young people die these days. We might have done something wrong.

My condolences to his family and his friends. May he be remembered!
