Well I started a few days ago. After sweating out the monsters, try some hunting and now really understand why several players with experience told me that all new players leave the game after a few days or weeks. It is impossible for a new player to win at something. Do not understand how they hope to keep new players with bad loot. I'm really disappointed the game as many experienced players as well. weapons are not really new to all you need to at least level 4 to take them to the maximum (which I explained the experienced players to get better loot) The big question is how to bring hope and above all retain new players with this game system? Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English use a translator xD
i am a new player, i started on 7 February, i did not deposit till now, i make 1-4 ped profit each day, my starting planet was Calypso but i moved here. so its possible even whitout depositing. u can add me on friends and we can talk , its a good system but its also a very hard system, in most games u will find a 1000% gain sistem, here NOT.
its hard enuf to old players.. 7 years played and everyday is loss.... i actually think new players have better chance.. atleast on mining.. so u should try that.. after the entropiatracker came ive seen 10s or maybe even 100+ of first time globallers get tower in mining.. (4k+ ped) so after 7 years without a tower id say its better chance for newbs.. and the late few ive seen on arkadia have gone to newbies also.. so mining it is
Well it's really hard if you are new to the game, it takes a lot of practice and bad choices to become proficient. If you figure out how to be succesful as a starting player, you can however build on that and become more and more succesful. But it still is really hard. Off course everything gets a whole lot easier if you decide to play as a depositor.
My disciples and some other new players from whom I regularly buy ores have done very well profiting from mining. Especially with the new loot distributions, it has made mining on a 100-200 ped budget more viable. Don't expect to drop 50 ped worth of probes and get 200 ped back. You can expect to have a 90-95% TT return long run, so if you regularly mine areas that produce an average of 110-115% markup, you can steadily profit or at least break even long term. Don't confuse "profiting" with "uber loots" Ruskea is talking about uber loots. If you chase hofs or globals, you will almost certainly lose.
Its all about playing smart. The system have to make a profit so you will always loses ped. Gain enough skills to do what you do best then stick to the MU(mark-up).
your best bet as a new member is before you go out guns blazing and depositing money, is to get into a soc. like NBKarmy. or such, and ask all the questions that come to mind. As a member of NBK we like to do our best in helping old and new players alike with information or hunting partners. but its best to know what you getting into before you just spend ped on a high powered gun you can't use. or amps and such. so best advice is take it slow and don't be afraid to ask questions when they pop into your head, because in this game knowledge can really be power. ^_^ ~Stoner
im playing this game for 3 years now and i have deposited, withdrawed and have small profit. noobs tend to see this game as a mmorpg. but it really isnt. It looks like it but if you play this as any other mmorpg you will quit within a breeze. In most mmorpg's you need to shoot highest possible for max xp and money gain. Here its the opposite. You have too know how to cut losses and be lucky to hit something good. playing above your level will bring huge losses and is imo the big problem for noobs. crafting is a no go except when you wanna invest huge ammounts of money. find yourself a good mentor and/or society that has aims at eco play. And be patient, very patient. Knowledge and patience are the keys to have fun time for low cost. Although i fully agree that starters have an extremely hard time in this game, even when they deposit. But thats already way way better as before. And on the right mobs with the right gear you will level up fast and cheap. Try the carabok punies but avoid overkill. Thats the challenge on them. Good luck
If the new player has a good mentor, it's really not difficult to start out, crafting, mining, or hunting. They just need to have the proper ped reserve for their playing style. Most of my disciples who mine do very well. Some start out hunting but what turns them away isn't poor returns or anything like that it's just that they get bored with grinding. I recommend trying many things in the game. Hunt, mine, do a little bit of crafting if you can afford to and if you skill up first. Don't just sweat for hours a day or grind carabok... that's boring.
I don't think that mining is easier to profit at, I know so At least for low and mid level hunting. It's very difficult to get a consistent profit hunting because the average markup is generally about 105% or less. It's relatively easy with mining because the average MU is generally around 115%, even higher in some areas. Is mining more expensive? Well that all depends what you're hunting... mining unamped for ores is as just as "expensive" as hunting bokol or nusul young (1 ped per loot attempt). Actually, I'd say it's less, since you'd need to spend ~ 1000 ped hunting these mobs before you'd expect to get your 90% average loot return, but I'd say only 500 ped for mining under the loot system we've had since january (very uniform claims, almost no globals). If you want to profit by "getting lucky", then go with hunting because the chance of big loots and high MU items is more common for hunting than for mining. The chance to loot high MU items is virtually zero for mining. So hunting profit is more a result of chance, mining profit comes simply from mining properly and sticking to it.
I've only been playing a short time, but I wouldn't want to play without the assistance of a mentor and a society. This is an extremely complex game that almost requires the experience of others to get you through the first steps. I think too many people in this game get too caught up with the idea of making a profit right away and get discouraged quickly as they grind all day for a couple PED. Look at the time and money you put into the game as an investment in your quality of entertainment as opposed to trying to make a profit, and I bet you'll have a little more fun!
Wow, I wish more people thought this way ArchAngel, and not JUST the new people either. Its really refreshing to see someone so new to Entropia speaking this way. +rep mate and good luck in your adventures on Arkadia and beyond.
