    Just a short question:

Is it possible to get optical gear? For example night vision googles?

When we got day and night on Calypso, storyteller Marco mumbled something about lights for the night. And animals, who are there only at night, and so on. Nothing ever happened... yeah, true. He is just a storyteller.

But on Arkadia, it will get dark too, I presume.

So, is there a possibility to get night vision (please both in 1st AND 3rd person view)?
Infrared or other parts of the light spectrum won't be so easy to make (even if there are many other games where they are possible), but night vision shouldn't be that hard to do.

P.S.: And a headlamp would be usefull too. As a miner it is not always a good thing to use a Genesis Dragon Breath as a light source... [IMG]

I'd like the ability to use optical gear in a pvp zone to help spot mobs roaming around. Infrared would be interesting if we had temperature on planets lol.

All them lights are just asking to be aggro'ed.

I won't mind some lights on my shoes so I can see them rocks and fruit in the dark lol. Don't want to step on any dung.

I was thinking we could have flood lights high beams when dark falls on us thay could switch on auto when sun goes down and off on sun rise for the fire base or somethign or high profiel places could apply something more creative than this tho

if you run a high end PC, you have parts of this:
The lights on the hummer and Valkyre are usefull then, no idea, why the way bigger pitbull does not light anything.

Additionally the laser swords and knifes are a good flashlight if you need one.

I'd be happy for a flashlight. You know it be a great job for newbs just to hold a flashlight at times.

Or even instead of a gun but a mountable spot light on vehicles.

what about one of those flares you fire up into the sky. the ones that burn bright and fall on a parachute.

of course, tracer rounds would be fun too.

Tracer rounds would be awesome if we had zones that were set-up FPS shooter style with manual aiming and not being able to shoot through walls, rubble, trees.

Yeah indeed just more realistic shooting trough trees and such would be nice but the back side is burning maybe more ammo?

Hey all great ideas.. I think that no one from Arkadia has said anything though is kinda telling... another thing worth noting is that the lights on car headliights aren't done quite the same as say the light from an enblade... I think there may be some sort of limitation? something to do with casting a cone of light into the distance rather than having a point source... dunno have to ask my crytek friend.

Kinda been busy preparing for launch so haven't had a chance to fully investigate adding things like torches. The light cast by a torch is different from the glow cast by a sword for example. The main concern is ensuring adequate frame rates are maintained whilst using something like a torch.

Suffice to say the suggestion has been noted and will be looked at when we get a chance.

yea nothing like driving in the dark with no radar and things pop infront of your headlights from behind a bush or something. I think if you guys utilize the cave mobs you should make those areas not have radar. I can just image an underground where you need light and mobs just comming out from caves and stuff would be sooo creepy and scary and fun.

Thanks for the response David. I had a feeling there was some sort of issue with directed light.... Rex I aggree that more "no radar" areas (not necessarily pvp) would be cool. I had for example turned it off sometimes in scary dark jungle areas on Calypso and tried to navigate just by hearing. Fun stuff!

Add a mindforce power that allows you to light up a certain area for a certain time! ;)

havent been on Ark very long but already have noted areas of extreme darkness, which does indeed impede gameplay.... some sort of lantern/torch would definitely be advantageous

Halloween torch sometimes comes in handy in the dark, but you have to be right up on red dots for it to work.

Could use the current gun mount, but you'd have to have someone in that seat to hold it. I'm totally for head-worn and hand-held lights too.

Also scopes give night vision, so the system is already there for that.

Surfman is new so he probably doesn't know about the Forum rule regarding Necroposting. However, you two should know better.

If this is something you want revisited, post a new thread in the Wishlist area and reference this thread in it please.
