@admin: please move this topic to the correct forum, didn't know where to place it.

I just saw a game ad which I liked... then realized it was Arkadia :). However: it was located on a world time site... which I think is far from the target group?

I understand, that you don't pay for the visits just for the clicks... still I think you generate unwanted clicks on sites that are far from gaming content. Just my 2 pecs.

Ad campaign is run through google ads, so you can't choose target sites. There is a whole thread on PCF about this, it was also mentioned in MA's dev notes.

I use google ads and you VERY much can choose target sites. Types of sites, even areas. You can choose specific sites, and well as exclude sites.

Whoever is running their marketing is wasting money. FACT.

One thing I noticed is that since I showed the planetarkadia.com website to someone at the office, I get a lot of Arkadia adds all over the place. So, I guess it might not have to do with what site you are on, but with what site you have been.

Well you could argue the fact that you were at that particular site and play on Arkadia proves it is reaching it's target audience

It's an English ad on an non English website. If it so happened he didn't play what if he couldn't read English. It's still a waste, it's even more of a waste to target users you have as they already know of the game and play it. Advertising on places where people already play such as Normandie Radio (I hear ads for the forums a lot) is also a waste of resources.

What they should do is target eve online players, and other hardcore mmo's (I joined due to an ad I saw while playing on eve online and using the in game browser and that's how I started)

Just saying, Google ads is the most powerful ad provider and lets you show the advertisements to the exact people you want, in the exact age group you want, in the exact geographical location you want, and browsing the exact website you want. Even to a broad group such as 18-28 year old Norwegian females who love eve online or coloring and texturing.

    You're absolutely right!
Google Ads have a 'follow' option. Basically people rarely click on an ad they see for the first time, so if you end up on Arkadia website once it will set a tracking cookie (well, google will...) and from then on you'll see a lot of Arkadia ads. This way, there's more chances of you not forgetting about it.

I believe this feature was introduced about two years ago, there's a writeup on TechCrunch about it.

Maybe they should disable that. Although you might get some workmates to join. :p
