Seems that animal part drops are a bit too high. I haven't been able to sell madana, huon, oweko or riptor parts at minimal markup. Not sure what others think, but to me its too frequent. This doesn't include hides, only the newer parts.

I don't know... I'm pretty happy with the drop rate. I recommend listing them on auction in small amounts, since the BPs use only one per click.

There are a number of parts which are scarce. Just to make a few clothes, in the last couple days I had to go out on several hunting trips because the animal parts I needed weren't on auction....

I am the only player to ever successfully auction off some Ostelok pummel feathers and Ostelok lower beaks. Two weeks ago!

OP is right, nobody cares for the new parts, we are wasting money putting them on the auction when their drop rate is so high and nobody needs them.

On the other hand, the development team managed to halve the overal loot markup on these mobs, reducing interest in hunting them. And the hides are dropping in price too...

I've not had a lot of time to hunt since the TH vu, but when I have I've noticed the differences in a positive way for myself. I remember Kitten I think it was (but not 100% sure) talking about the scarcity of Teladon parts for crafting, doing a 300ped hunt just to get one piece or something, yet when I did the same ped hunt on them the beginning of this week I got plenty, so clearly not scarce anymore and that was reflected in the MU (though I did auction all my animal parts and they all sold quickly). Idk, MA is constantly 'balancing' all loot and resources, first we get real problems when new things simply don't seem to exist at all or are extremely rare, then they adjust something and things start dropping a lot more, so MU goes down for awhile, in the end it does all tend to balance out over time though, so if there is a flood right now that will gradually ease off and the market will adjust accordingly. The crafters as well are slowly getting over the lust for discoveries, so aren't buying as much as they were at first as well. Just my 2pecs as a hunter, I prefer a temporary flood of new items over a serious drought, and as always, if you can afford to hold onto stuff until you get a good stack and the supply/demand balances out better, do so, if you can't do that it's always been a case of get what you can or tt it in the meantime.

Having said all of that though, I'm sure A Team will mention the apparently overly high drop rate now the parts are finally showing up.

Lee, thanks for listing your stuff. I've bought at least 3 or 4 different auctions from you :) And yes, I do agree, MA actively balances the drop rates out.

Mrproper, I know for certain that more than one set of lower beaks have been sold, since I bought one and I'm not the only one who uses them. I think a large portion of these are traded outside of auction.

If anyone is having trouble selling your animal parts on auction, 1) reconsider your selling price 2) find out who uses the parts and sell to them directly.

Ah yes, I see it now, the feather still only one sale. Ok, let's test your theory. I shaved off some stacks to the nearest ped and put them for tt+1 on the auction. If they don't sell, then nobody wants so many and they can easily request them from a hunter or get them themselves, leaving the rest of the hunters to tt them.

The list of auctions I just created is:

    Jori Pectoral Fin -- 40 -- 10 PED -- 110%
    Halix Leg Fur -- 20 -- 10 PED -- 110%
    Feran Wing Claw -- 8 -- 6 PED -- 116.(6)%
    Ostelok Lower Beak -- 25 -- 10 PED -- 110%
    Ostelok Pommel Feather -- 20 -- 9 PED -- 111%
    Tiarak Elbow Spur -- 8 -- 10 PED -- 110%

    Happy crafting!

My previous post was from a crafter's perspective. From a hunter's perspective yeah, I do think they could be somewhat less common, at least so that they retain some MU. Chilix finding 6 korwil paws on one mob was pretty funny. I guess we just have to wait a month more to see where the MUs/volumes go from here. Part of the problem is that they are only used for clothing, you don't normally crank out hundreds of clicks on those except the lower ones for skilling--and the caps and TB boots don't use the animal parts.

My markups had a starting bid of 103-104 in stacks of between 50-110 ped or so and no bids were on them and expired. It turns into wasted ped putting them on auction, plus they are replacing other loot that either has some markup and sells or I would craft away. It does eat into returns quite a bit when they don't sell and are replacing other loot. As Mr Proper said, it is deterring me from hunting some.

I'd put them in with a buyout instead of a starting bid.
