just an fyi for those attempting to calculate the probiablity of hittign a sooto find in all my time in eu i have dropped 4,539,267 dropps yes i have tracked every one sad i know but in all those dropps amped and unamped i have hit a whopping 3 sooto hits ever so perhaps this will help someone calculating it out
this is also on the old sooto system that many say ma turned off for a long time seeing how rare i actually had one i cant say for sure

This is a good point to explain, that you cannot use old data today.
In my first years on Calypso I did not mine much (was below level 10) and found 4 or 5 Spaceships.
So my ratio is a lot higher than the poor player from above.

I strongly recommend to track each logs seperately from patch to patch... because new loot is added maybe every patch, and this might influence the SOOTO possibilities.

It also suggests to me that it may not be entirely random... perhaps mining pattern, other activities in game, or some other unknown factors affect whether a particular avatar will find SOOTO. There's a pic on this forum of someone who had like 6 or 7 treasure items in his inventory... either he bought them all or the drop rate can't be super low.

well its not that its old data as i do track seperatly from patch to patch its just a sum total from all my years just dont share that kind of info locations average depths no problem

Wow, those are some very nice finds..... with a Rookie?? I guess the SOOTO system is independent of finder depth & drop cost! I also think I'm going to start spamming with a rookie finder. I need to find some of those cool jars! Much cooler storage than broken pitbulls :)

I found my 1st arkadian sooto today , with 105 finder, about 800 points in treasure sense (1 to 2k cycled or so i guess) It was after a long bad period , i got the feeling and double bombed in the same place ,got it on the second bomb, then a 3rd claim too .

in my experience the sooto comes after a bad period, over probing an area used to find me beacons fairly regularly(but i also wasted alot of ped trying) and this was pre v10 (but i have no reason to think they changed the actual mechanics much , i guess tresure hunting will see more sooto than normal mining eventually as it is a big part of TH, but i might be wrong.)

found my second sooto on arkadia today :D This one was 2 vasses . 105 finder , after a just bellow tt return run .

all the pots have v good storage capabilities , larger than most vehicle inventory's so they make excellent containers for pvp mining if you fill them and store them in a vehicle to recall ect and they look nice as ornaments , still pretty rare items according to AH.

A more virtually "real" mining and treasure system, please!

My problem with Treasure Hunting is the same as my problem with mining in general, but even more emphatically a *PROBLEM* for me, conceptually. As far as I am aware, nobody has ever proven that mining has anything whatsoever to do with the possibly theoretical geological aspects of the territory one crosses as one mines. In the real world, if I see an area with a lot of red rock, I may reasonably expect to find iron-based materials in there, somewhere. If rocks look a certain way, I may expect to see a higher than average number of geodes or agates. Black, black, black earth in very low, wet-looking areas might just possibly have more oil content than something bright yellow, way up on the highest mountain peaks. Blues and greens? Shouldn't I see an increase in copper-based chemically rich rocks and energy materials, both?

None of those visual clues, map features, or topography-related signals seem to mean a darned thing to MA's loot system. Likewise, if I am exploring -- and that's what I mostly am, an explorer (which, BTW, is not a recognized skill and gets no credit or loot whatsoever, except for some of the new player missions) -- and I happen to discover a place where most avatars would never go, and I happen to see ancient artifacts all around, and there is visual evidence of something magical, or I see future tech in an unexpected area, I believe I might be entitled to have at least a slightly better probability of finding something called "treasure" that might possibly be at least a little "OOTO!"

Curse me for a fool, after years in EU I still keep hoping that some day I will be proven wrong and that there is *SOME* wisdom somewhere in the loot system. However, I'm afraid that such expectations are entirely misplaced in this new "treasure" system. I guess my player experience would be enriched, somehow, if there really were a "TREASURE" system, with a capital "T."

A totally random-chance mining or treasure system just plain breaks the virtual illusion for me. It's like reading a fantasy/sci-fi story that just doesn't suck you in quite right.

It's one of the negative attributes about EU that I keep having to overlook because for some reason I love this game too much to quit.
