hello, So I've been playing for a bit under 2 weeks, and am completely addicted, of course... but I have a couple of questions... I'm just wondering if there is any way to recycle used up equipment? It feels wrong to just drop it.. can it be put in a refiner and broken into reusable materials or something? If not, could someone invent something like this? My second question relates to texture extractors... what is the use of them? Does anyone ever buy them? and if so, how do I sell them? (ok, so 3 questions but related
Hi Ashryn, First off, Welcome to Arkadia and to PAF. Sounds like you are having a good time so far, so i hope we can help make it more fun as you go along. I'll address your question here for you: Q: Is there any way to recycle used up equipment? A: Generally yes there is, you put it in the TT (Trade Terminal) and it gives you whatever value is left, back in PED. Unfortunately if the equipment you are talking about it the stuff you received on the New Player Experience missions, then the answer is currently NO. The A-Team are looking into some way of disposing of the used items for new people but they were made untradable to begin with to discourage "gold farmers" from exploiting the free gifts at the start. Qa: Texture extractors...what is the use of them? A: They are used by people who make textures of materials to be applied to items, clothes or vehicles. You may have seen people wandering around in nicely coloured clothes or vehicles with wildly different colour schemes....this is colouring and texturing. Qb: Does anyone ever buy them? and if so, how do I sell them? A: Plenty of people buy them. You have 3 options here: Gather up some decent piles of them and go to Celeste Quarry and shout out in Trading Chat to see if there is anyone wanting to buy them; Place them in the Auction for sale (warning, this does entail a fee for listing it for sale.); or Go to the "Trading and Business" section of this forum and post a Selling thread for them, and anything else you want to sell. (Tip: generally people like a decent stack of stuff if you are going to sell in auction or forum) Hope some of this helps. Feel free to post again or throw us a PM.
Cheers for the speedy reply when you say decent piles are you talking 20 or hundreds? I knew the textures were for making cool clothes, but I can't work out how to use them. I have some leather and some hides, oils, ingots and paints, but do I need blueprints or something? I'd like to have a go at using the things I have gathered if its worth it. re sprooking in the quarry, I guess i haven't been spamming hard enough!
Piles, I would start with 50's and maybe work up from there. But that's just a guess on my part. There are far more experienced texture crafters around here who I'm sure will be along to share some wisdom soon. *snaps fingers at the assembled masses* You do indeed need blueprints in order to make the textures. Auction is your friend for finding such bps, although you might find some of the low level ones at a terminal (someone more knowledgeable please confirm this). EDIT: I can confirm that there are low level texture bps available from the "Technician Terminal"....the plain green terminal (in any command post you will find it next to the blue "Trade Terminal".
Ashryn, just one thing I would like to tell you is that be careful what blueprint you get, different blueprint need different skill levels. Carabok textures you can make even with 0 skills I believe, but for example Oro textures need a bit more skill and if you don't have those skills you will fail a lot and loose a lot of money because of that.
ashryn if your looking to trade extractors or materials to others the best place to look for what you should sell at is look at the items market value, daily and weekly numbers are most important here I think because they reflect the current market trends. Usually you will have no problem selling items at market value or shade under. Selling over the market value is also possible depending on current demand just have to watch how trends of the items sales go. Using these values will hint at what size stacks you will be able to sell at. If your looking for immediate sales also look under the orders tab in the auction house to see if anyone is offering to buy right now and see what their markup is set as. Be careful selling though, be sure to take into consideration your posting fee charge when trying to meet these orders. I have seen orders that looked ok for low markup items but you would get better deal in the end selling to the trade terminal so be careful. Small learning curve with a calculator is required on your part but it is not to hard to do. Hope this helps a little.
Thanks for the tips all It sounds like I need to do more hunting and mining before i have enough of anything to sell anyway. I think i'll just keep looking at the market value of things and looking at the auctions and maybe it will all make sense eventually. Speaking of Auctions, I have something someone has put in an order for. is there a way to direct your sale toward the person ordering, to avoid the auction fee or do they just have to notice you have what they want?
Hey ashryn ...there is no way to avoid the auction fee.....when you want to fill a order just set your item in auction...see that your MU fits to the MU what the buyer is willing to pay...when your MU fits it is sold instantly...dont forget the set the BO price.... in case you find me at the Quarry feel fee to add me to your FL
ashryn, if you have ores or enmatters head to Celeste Quarry and use trade chat to try and sell them. Sometimes people are there buying resources in any size stacks. They sometimes will be broadcasting they are looking for ores and enmatters so watch the chat window for those messages. Celeste Quarry has kind of become the personal trading hub on Arkadia you might even be able to sell your other items there in any size stacks as well using the trade window chat.
