I month or so ago on a boring meeting I sketched this image. Imagining an Arkadia Transport Pod, now when the personal pod is here I found them alike. The landing legs almost the same. I think a similiar vehicle could stand as the modell for an Arkadia based transport vehicle like the helicopter we all ready have in EU. A simple design for transporting archeologist out to digging sites or transport goods needed. This should be a vehicle destinated to never leave the atmosphere of Arkadia.

In front the pilot and the copilot. In the back seats for 4-6 passangers.

Awesome pic, will let you know when an opening is available at the studio :)

But seriously it's a cool idea, will keep in mind when the next vehicle slides in for development.

Don't really agree that my "art like a 3 year old" could be called an "awesome pic" :)
Still agree that the idea is great.

    LOL, dating myself now ...

Anyone recalls the "Thunderbirds" puppet TV series?

The Thunderbird 2 (img) should do the job nicely.

Transporters in Star Trek, Stargate, and all the rest is a basic box with a opening in the back. So if all the rest thinks this is futuristic design it should work for Ark :)
Here I played with a triangular tube. Maybe doesn't show so much. Picture is monocrome so 256 colors should be OK

Nice, and this sparked my memory as well.

Some time ago I started on a 3D model for a VTOL drop ship.
So I dug up and dusted off the modeling pictures.
I actually should finally finish the model :)

It is a multi role drop ship.
    Basic Capacity:
    1Pilot, 1 Co pilot/gunner, 1 Board Mechanic/loader.
Gunner sits behind the pilot and operates the top gun turret (not modeled yet)
The Board Mechanic refills the gun ammo inside and functions as load master during loading of the craft.

    Multi role capacity.
Personnel transport: 10 passengers (5 on each side)

    Cargo transport (fold-able benches)

Gun ship: cargo hold can be converted for ammo and radar equipment.
The back loading door will be replaced with a gun turret and a small door.

I just want to be able to park my vehicles in an estate building I own so they don't disappear when I log off.

Actually Archman not a bad idea for a new type of shop. A shop that allows the display of vehicles for sale. Could reduce all the random parking lots out there that form in seconds when a salesman wanders through :p I remember reading once RT was suppose to have something like that but I have never seen anything over there so it could have been just a bad rumor I read once.

Not to get all tv nerdy or anything, but the vehicles in Stargate Atlantis were the cylindrical "puddlejumpers". They were cylindrical so as to fit through the gates. Nirfu's design, in cross section, is more reminiscent of the rotor in a Wankel rotary engine, the motor originally in the Mazda auto. Personally, for some reason, I find his rounded, triangular design more pleasing to the eye. It's simple. I like the other examples given also, they just seem more complicated, busy. But that's just me.

I worry about vehicles that are basically long boxes with flat front ends. Air resistance increases fuel consumption when moving forward. Cross winds are a problem too. I just think it makes sense to design the body shape so that moving forward produces lift.

For that reason I love Ion's design. But I like the design of Stargate's puddle jumper, too. :D

That's why mankind invented antigravity generators. No need anymore for the good old bernoli effect that lifted the old 21 century aircrafts. Only need today is a small engine pushing the vehicle in the right direction. Regarding the flat front, that's nothing a cone shaped force field can't handle.
    Welcome to the future!

I'm prity sure u seen one, the problem is that they are invisible. :)
For example when u exit or enter a spaceship, station or The Asteroid there must be something holding the air inside. Remeber the ladder to the old Beacon missions?
So the technology is there but maybe not used in a wider range.

Remember that same "drop ships" and "shuttles" and other types of "craft" have been somewhat mentioned and somewhat described in the storyline already so some of you might want to extrapolate from that...also, with the general "modular" theme of a lot of things the IFN have brought with it, it could be argued the a basic "craft" of a dropship/shuttle would be the same but with maybe some sort of "modular" pod that would fit into it, that would change depending on the mission or "role" at hand..

My thoughts would extend with something along the lines of the APC shuttles from Space: Above and Beyond and also with existing vehicles we have here on Earth such as the Sikorsky SkyCrane (See pics below).
