Well all I will say is this... when MA has done this to most of the gear and you happen to FINALY loot a high level item and find it has no more mu since many people will already have it through the new token based item mall I want you to remember this thread.

I am confused. It was my understanding that everything purchased with mission tokens was (L) ?

In other words, only the planet they're on will be affected... And to no great extent...

Well Rick at this point I dont know how to respond to you in a manor you will understand. I will leave you this to ponder and apply to what I have started this thread for to begin with.

Each planet is supposed to bring some thing unique to the platform correct? Arkdia brought to the table Treasure hunting. This has not been introduced as MA is working on how to implement it platform wise for all planets even though it was meant as Arkadias distinguishing draw to bring new people to Arkadia. If MA can take a key element like that and bless other planets with Arkadias main feature do you honestly beieve that MA would not force token based item mall on all planets if it works as a benefit to themselves? Which btw MA has proven time after time they have their agenda and the player base with the exclsion of a few do NOT fit into it.

When that day comes will you still believe it wont effect you?

Im willing to bet you 5k ped that this wont lead to the economic fail of entropia system where players are forced to participate in token events in order to aquire items and continue play or have a chance to loot nice items.

6 months time it was said right?

Could we clarify some definitions so that I can understand this better.

It is my understanding that the standard definition for an 'item mall' is A way to purchase in game items in free or subscription based games which you may or may not be able to acquire from normal game play.

The key being that you use money to buy the item mall items.

In contrast this is the first time I have seen something avaliable for purchase with anything besides real money in Entropia Universe.
So it seems completely the oposite of what you are calling it, but maybe its just because I am confused about the definitions.

So tell me how to correct my thoughts on what the definitions are.

Item Mall = using real money to buy items in a game.

All of Entropia Universe = using real money to buy items in the game.

Mission Token purchases = the first time in EU that you can use something from the game (not real money) to purchase items in the game.

I agree that i the end, a value will be placed on the tokens based on their purchase power and the markets will adjust accordingly. I do not seeing this as the end of the world though.

(I have read on other gaming forums how hated 'item malls' are, and think that you might just be using it as a hot topic catch phrase.)

Wahoo! notherone trying ti be a wise ass//

Item mall...use money to purchase items usually NOT available to the non cash using player base. Also used to weed out over powered items no longer wanted by the devs in large quantities within their games.

added thought... if many items can be bought with tokens markets get flooded mu drop...standard result of item mall failure vusually resulting in a bigger item to replace it....

.if you wush to see snabelsnots with a million hp in the future to support the super high dps weapons needed to replace non saleable item mall gear please be my guest and support this in its early stages and let it dig in.

Sorry I dont understand how item malls or mission tokens work to weed out existing high power items.

There are only (L) mid level items available in exchange for mission tokens.
    http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/f...sion-Tokens!&p=2823438&viewfull=1#post2823438
There is NOTHING in that list which would allow me to hunt at a higher level than I already am with my already very low markup (L) armor and (L) guns.

IF they introduce high level unlimited items in the future for an imbalanced low number of tokens, THEN you can say the sky is falling.
Until then it is hard to take you seriously when you refuse to consider the evidence.

My guess, it's part of a longitudinal sociological study. I'm looking forward to reading the paper when it's published.

Lol that sounds like a right mouthful. It is easy to see why, over the years, a lot of people have become very jaded with things in EU. I still hold out hope it will get better in time with the right combination of people and systems.

Close it if you like. Time shall again prove me correct as it always has. I may not be spot on with the ending but mark my words MA will make this yet another downtrend to the players NOT in the privleged class. Look forward to more of a struggle for new players resulting in the same stagnant growth, the fleecing of mid level players and the further assention and segregation for those able to dump big money into this. Enjoy the future you are perpetuating by not looking futher ahead.

Ill leave it up to the mods to decide to close this or not.

Actually CB, far from being inclined to close threads willy-nilly in this day and age, I am more interested to find out whether or not your prophecy comes true in the future.

That got me wondering how we should measure whether or not you turn out to be right. Could turn out to be quite fun to see!

I suppose we'd need to start with a future date on which we measure it, and some conditions that need to be satisfied. Any thoughts?

(If you'd rather us close the thread than go down that path, I understand, just let us know).

    Well Tim lets see.

We can start way back with the inception of L gear. Back on the original EF I stated MA would in time reduce their function to simply a decay machine removing any portrayed benefit to the player to nothing. The main function being the sib componantthat was taughted as a major boost for the player. Well today its pretty much useless other then "steering" players down a scripted path. Skills no longer having a use in any profession now other then a place holder in the now scripted world of L.

Skills.. obviously they have no use other then a place holder in the world of L as the recent ath of a very new player with tt mining gear proved. I stated this along with the devaluation of avatars values would be the out come of the skill events. For months as MA did this to us I debated with all the MA suckups that it was a permanant hit to the playerbase. Their defense was that time would see values stablise. Well back then at 125k total skill mine were worth 28,600 ped using the chipping optimiser which a good portion of our community trusts and respects. Today at 178k skill nearly 2.5 years later, the skill market has not stabalised and my total sill value at last check was only 13,800
ped. Again I am proven to be correct..

BTW before anymore bandwagoneers jump in with.."the new guy was just lucky" comments, save them for Some one that doesnt know this is a computer program and there is no such thing as luck. It does what it is programmed to do.

Missions...Again I predicted would be A detriment to the player base. Remember Marco stating MA would move to giving less no looting mobs along with the evolution of missions. So far any mission mob I have bothered with held just under 50% to be no looters. This does not include the addtion of fag mints in loot which are basicly an icon for a no loot mob. Again I posted my concerns and the suckups and fabois defended MA.

I also foretold the downside of tiering..Any one yet figure how enhansers decay or do you all still buy into that illusion?

So Tim that brings us to now.
I have seen for the most part you have had a level head when posting and hold a respectful place in EU. I have not noticed you to be the follow the crowd type mentality. However the wording you have used sounds like you are jumping on the bandwagon with the ones who protect and perpetuate the not so good sides of EU to protect personal interests. While I to may be protecting my intrests I simply call things as I see them I refuse to not make an effort to point out issues I see in my and others future.

So as in the past I say feel free to use or not use this information as you choose. Like I told another poster here in a pm. You will not taunt me into setting specifics simply to be used at a later date to make me the bad guy.

Seeing that this is turning into a bandwagon party and not a valid discussion go ahead and close it.

    CB,

My intention was not to taunt, but to pin down with more precision what you think is going to happen. That's not because I don't believe you, not because I disagree with you, not because I agree with the mob and not because I want to make you out to be a bad guy.

I think I could have worded it better, but since I didn't, here's why I want to know more.

    1. I'm interested to further understand what you're saying. My initial thinking about the impact of the tokens when I first heard about them was pretty different to yours, so I'm keen to come to an understanding of your own thought processes (perhaps my reading comprehension skills aren't high enough though).

    2. I understand that your future prediction is based on past experience, and I think this makes it more meaningful than a stab in the dark would have been. Therefore I feel the urge to take you at least somewhat seriously.

    3. If a future prediction is going to be taken seriously, it has to be testable. Too many people in this world sweep others up in future predictions, and then when something happens differently to the way it's expected, the "predictions" get revised or reworded to suit the prophet. I'm not accusing you of being one of these people, but by making the claims you do in the way that you do, it's easy for people to see you in this light (thus the sorts of responses you get). I AM wary of taking prophecy and superstition seriously because it so often proves to be just made up crap. Therefore, I wanted you to be more specific.

So, I wanted to know WHY you think what you think, and how it works. Not just because it's happened before, but more precisely what you think will actually happen and why. That would help me in all three of the above desires.

But, I think you've made it clear that you don't want to be specific. Sooooo, I haven't closed the thread even though you again said it was fine to, but I tentatively offer to do so again.

I think I'm on topic though, and not quite trolling :) We'll see if another mod mods me, lol!
