Quite a simple background to mine, the character Alan B'stard from "The New Statesman" gave me my surname, which led me to think of linking phrases hence "Cheeeezy B'stard" and then it asked for a nickname, and a cheese related nickname made "Stilton" the obvious choice. A bit boring really, so I'll end with a pic of Mr B'stard, Cheeeezy's evil cousin. View attachment 1993 And btw, RAZER was by far the best robot in robot wars, all those holes drilled to bring it below the weight limit made it look great too.
My story is actually very short: My name in game is Atom Heart Mother. When I was in front of my most difficult choice (char name) was drunk on my chair with closed eyes and this song poped out on my random playing list: The issue was solved
Corey Greyfox Grifydd The first is my real name, the last is the ancestral of my real last name GreyFox was actually not all that creative, when my "computer geek" friend was trying to get me into gaming he told me I had to pick an original name, I looked around the room and saw a picture on the calendar of a Greyfox and I've been using it ever since.
Steve Mischief Sunderland Not very impressive but nor is my avatar so it all fits. Sunderland is my family name and the one I would have if still living in the UK. Grandpa got a job offering in the cold north of Europe, a small country that made the word "lagom" famous or infamous. In short Sweden. To be honest, if Gp hadn't moved to Sweden I wouldn't exist so it's more like what I would have changed back to if ever moving there. Steve is the English equivalent to my first name. Close but not the exact name. Mischief - 2 reasons for using it. When I was just a tiny little boy my beloved Granny called me a disaster for some reason, still unknown to me. She also repeatedly told me to stay out of mischief. A few years later my sister went to Australia and came back with a record made of a local band called Heaven. Not the best I've ever heard but the name of the album kind of stuck to me - Twilight of Mischief. And being a fan of the comic series of Buck Ryan where the main villain was a mysterious woman called Twilight, there just was no escape. But that's not all. There is another avatar who was inspired by the name of that album out there. Not a second or anything, but a friend that couldn't some up with a name so I suggested Twilight. So when you meet him, be assured it has nothing to do with vampires that sparkle in the sun.
My avatar name, Sorven Shrang Shadowsoul, is a combination of a couple different names I've used when playing MUDs. Sorven is a general name I used for a variety of different characters, Shrang was usually my vampire character. Shadowsoul is a last name I came up with to use with either one, so I just combined them when creating a character. I used to have another name I used a lot, however I wanted to move away from it and into something a little different when I started playing EU. As far as where they came from, I think of myself as fairly talented in coming up with names, they may not be original, but I didn't copy them from anywhere, these are what I made while sitting there playing with the letters. Sorry, no massive story behind it, just names I've used elsewhere and still use.
Mine comes from the Japanese word for polarfox. Shiro = white Kitsune = fox And forum name is a nickname someone once gave me on IRC that somehow stuck and ended up being used by IRL friends that also used IRC :/
Having limited creative abilities, I kept it simple.....Arrun from the sound of saying the initials of my forenames quickly and Warsash since that is where I live (Google it)
EU was my first virtual universe game, so i do not think very much about names when i enter. When i see i must choose a name, i think about a sciencie fiction character from writer Frank Herbert "Dune" books. I wanted "Miles Teg" name, but i see "Miles" was occuped yet, so i change to "Milesio". When i was for enter "Teg" i say "damm why not" then i write "Tegum" and think "is not a good name but i only will pass here 1 or 2 hours for laugh a little".
Cripes I read the thread so might as well bore prople by posting: aj = me 502 = shortened version of my Ham Radio handle, aj502 is/was my CB radio handle HellRoach = old nickname from school days Budweiser = Just happened to be the beer i was drinking when looking around for something to fill in the middle name part. aj502 is my name in every online game, and some if i can use it in outside contests, i will. Tippin'
Skywolfe Sky Manyspirits Real life name = Sky Wolf real life nick name = Sky proposed new name (irl) = Manyspirits Yep you guessed it, i am Native American. my ava name is in fact my Real Life name. the "Manyspirits" surname is one i have earned, but has not yet been bestowed upon me. i use it here only. i have played many games, and always seem to pick the same names for them. Cpt. Theodisia Mainwarring, (2 names there) From "Path of the fury by David Weber" Alicia DeVries (Cpt. Mainwarrings real name) and Cassopia because i think they are beautiful jellyfish. for this game however something else was needed and because i have no imanination, i had a harder than usual time finding a name. so i took my real name, and slightly adjusted the spelling. but you can call me Sky. why not? everyone else does!
started with sostoned in another game. here it became so stoned needed a nickname and stoney sounded nice so that became so stoney stoned. Dont have to be a rocket scientist to know what i smoked that night
My first ava in old PE was called Mordrell Burner Scipio... lost account so came back with Mordrell Baas WHAT Mordrell is name I made up for necromancer when I first played Diablo II and it has just stuck since then. Baas is Afrikaans for "boss" because I am the boss hehe and WHAT because i couldn't think of a third thing lol
