It is just TOO dark to hunt at night or do much if you could just lighten it up just abit more that would be great. not sure how everyone else feels about it but i don't feel like screwing with my gamma setting for night time and then fix again when day.... so if that could occur would be great.
I like it the way it is now and I never change any gamma settings, maybe you should look around how your room is lighten too where you play and stuff like that. Correctly placed light source can really change the picture you see on a screen
have same impression as Strash, ark night time seems darker than caly one to me too ... not to the point where game is unplayable though but I did play around with gamma settings
think for a minute guys.. This is a new world around a new star, and yes, very possibly, it's darker at night than on Caly. Why? because the moons different or further away or the scrap in orbit causes less light to get through, if you cant see well, do what I did, increase your gamma a little, it doesn't mess with other games, its just for this one, now I mine either day or night and it doesn't bother me. that's better than asking for the whole planet to change isn't it?
The light levels during day, dusk, moonlit nights, and dawn are all just fine in my book. Please leave as is.
It's night time that just needs to be brightened up.... you can hardly see mobs... and has nothing to do with my 'room' in real life or stuff..... it's just the setting of the game at night is too dark When calypso changed there lighting i never had a issue playing there..... I can't see huon yuka or any of those types of mobs while it is night time....... cept on radar...... So please allow more light.
I like how dark it is. It's supposed to be dark at night. That's why they don't call it day. I'd love to have light sources though. Flashlights (carried and mounted), vehicle floodlights, nightvision goggles, etc.
Would be ace to be able to do the equivalent of tape a light to the barrel of your gun, just like in the movies
Some items equiped as tools or guns can do some light around. Mindark give a gift some months ago, in christmas o hallowen or another holy day. Is Tomtebloss, people use it in partys but can be used as a torch. Try blades or other items for see if you have some light. Is amazing you see red dot in radar but not sure wich mob you will find, eh. Can be good if crafting have flashlight bp. A lot customers for sure. Greetings. Milesio.
but it can just be incredibly dark at times... and hunting with a blade that gives no light sucks cause you use your mouse to find a mob then you select it run towards it and behold it's not the one closet to you...... just lighten it up abit more and we are all good.
nights are just fine. if your computer cannot handle very high graphics settings, then you do indeed need some sort of illumination. i run my graphics on very high and there is lots of light to play by. for those of you who cannot do this (for whatever reason) you need to pester the devs for wearable illumination like Neil suggested. i think a head lamp like the racoon hunters use would fit the bill perfectly. it is a light fixture in an elastic band you wear around your head, and has a cord to the power pack you wear on your belt. if we can get the devs to get us some of these nights on ark would be more enjoyable no matter what your graphics settings!
Back before I got my graphics card, I played on a combination of Low, Medium, and High.. I found that if Shadows were on Low, it was pretty easy to see what was going on -- even at night. Even playing in Window Mode with a (fairly) bright desktop wallpaper..
I know some people are saying it's fine the way it is, but personally I have felt the night time has been too dark. We have been working to rectify it (it's more complex than you'd probably think) and in testing today we have it working the way we want. Still feels like night time, but is bright enough from moonlight to still play the game. We've also made some changes to the underwater fog settings to make hunting the Jori (Fish) a bit easier by decreasing the fog and hence increasing your view distance. Expect the changes to come through with the next update 27th September Dave
Thanks A-team for listening to us player feedback. Personaly I have no problems with how dark the night is as its quite visible on my screen but I do understand that for some other players it may be way to dark and because of that I have no problems in it being adjusted to suite as meny players as possible Keep up the good work guys and cant wait to see all the changes and aditions still to come
