I am certain Arkadia MUST and can have unique and attractive items and concepts to be successful in the Entropia Universe. I can think of MANY ways to do this, without having to be more powerful than Calypso stuff.

    1. A space capable vessel that can hold more than 2 people. This would sell like hotcakes
    2. Mining amps that are different in any way. Better durability, cheaper but less uses, etc.
    3. Unique and attractive weapon, armor and clothing models.
    4. A mob around the level of Atrox (Beladoth, or something a little lower in level) that drops ONLY gear or nothing. No materials, hides, and garbage, just good loot or no loot. (this like FOMA would attract people by the buttload)
    5. Dungeons. Don't have to be instance, just underground, dangerous, and chance at good loot.
    6. A unique spin on pvp of some sort. (in a special dedicated zone of course) Maybe a maze/arena like something from Running Man.
    7. Society based competition, contests, events. Everything on Calypso seems solo oriented, make Arkadia the land of Society play!

Thats enough for now :p Dave, yes I am available for hire if you need more great ideas :)

Arkadia's plans are fairly simple I'm sure, to get a return on all the time and effort, not to mention money, that Dave and the others have invested. They have done ok so far and I'm sure much more stuff is coming, so I hope that everyone keeps dropping hints and ideas, and Dave and his team keep seeing them, sooner or later this is going to be one great planet to be on, imo.

Awesome stuff there Dylan. Especially the pvp and possible dungeons....but u wouldn't want to run out of ped for ammo..."area specific" loot drops would be cool if they could do it tho. Build your way up in those areas for the better gear. Even if we had to pay some ped to run them, with a chance to win ped based loot....or at least lvl based areas.....let me bring 50 ped ammo and i'll take down a dungeon full of punys and their Punyboss

hey all. noob checking in ... I played EVE for a long time, and EVE's economy is driven by one thing:
conflict. That, from what I can see, is what's missing here. war creates cash flow in eve. here in entropia, the conflict level simply needs to be ratcheted up, with corresponding ways to stay out of conflict(not all of you are pvp-types) and ways to PROFIT from conflict. they're nibbling around the edges of this thing with the aliens we're supposed to be fighting against, but there needs to be soc-on-soc conflict as well, perhaps over certain resources or certain pieces of land. you have VTOL's, great. allow for air-to-air combat. dogfights in the skies of arkadia and everywhere else. allow wrecks to be salvaged, reverse-engineered, etc, allow crafters to invent new stuff. there needs to be politics, smuggling of rare items/goods, and perhaps a way to couteract that as well. see, for a virtual universe to work, it needs to mirror the real world of human interaction. entropia is too clean. the money isn't flowing because the economic model is unfocused and not open for both entrepreneurial creativity, and, frankly, abuse as well, because it all goes hand in hand. whole economy needs a re-think and a re-do. just my 2 peds

Wildcarde, the people who introduced lootable pvp in space may well agree with you. Personally I am not interested in pvp and it shits me that this is something I am forced to play around. Quite happy for there be option to pvp. Lets have lots of different ways to enjoy this universe. Just keep it out of my face. Meanwhile I want to focus on building my skills, building my ped balance, building good relationships with other players cos thats what I enjoy.

I think it's interesting you mention comparison to real world. It's true that conflict generates opportunities for some to profit. Arms dealers, mercenaries, insurance companies, rackateers and theives. And here in EU we have pirates stealing from the rest of us, and traders who are willing to take the risk potentially gaining too. But for most of us it just imposes extra cost. And guess what? In the real world its peace that fosters economic growth for all.

On the otherhand I quite like the idea of a storyline that includes conflict with non player aliens or robots or whatever. Calypso has had it with the robot wars, and it looks like Arkadia has that in mind with the Oratan. The big question is what is the platform and MA capable of delivering to allow us to play out that storyline. So far the mission system as it exists doesnt quite seem to deliver.

    Regards,
    KikkiJikki

Conflict in the real world sometimes spurs on progress—but only in the context of a normally peaceful society. Just look at the different areas of the world where there are conflicts and where things are peaceful. Which are the most productive? Conflict, always wastes resources. Do people in the ring at Twins use the most eco weapons? Not usually. While this is great for MA (more peds down the repair terminal), it's not something that all players will enjoy.

But that point aside, it sounds like you might want to try out the PVP areas on Calypso, or space, or Port Atlantis, there's plenty of conflict there.

We have an ongoing conflict locally on Arkadia, with the wildlife and Oratan. Come join us in the chain of life. :)
