The most recent VU made our previous mining map obsolete. Let's discuss a bit how this should be set up from the new data that's been collected so far. Should it be set up the same way as the previous one, with large server regions? Or is it more appropriate to use smaller regions? I imagine we have pretty good data on the north island region (Sanctuary cove) because of the recent discovery event. Any insights from that region?

    Edit:
How about this map? I've tried to balance it between protecting the privacy of your own high resolution maps and giving helpful info to other miners. I've divided the map into 2000m blocks with 4 quadrants in each block, so it should be easy to report. This should provide a lot more direction than the previous map, and gives an option for those who want to be pretty specific... You can say you found something in F5 (a pretty big region) or in F5b (a smaller region). Quadrant labels (a,b,c,d) are in the lower right hand corner of the map.

I can upload a higher resolution image if you like the grid scheme.

Server devided to smaller regions, if possible... for even within 8CS server that is already divided to several smaller regions, those each individual smaller areas of the same server contain different resources on different parts of those smaller regions.

So it's not just one big bulk of an area with pre-set resources to be found on any part given. Resources are not spread all over the server. Not even all over those smaller regions within that server.

Not sure if all miners are willing to share their info on the matter, but check link to my blog on my sig. I've indicated the general direction of each smaller run during that 100 double drops mining run, so it gives some idea of what to find and where about. Roughly.

I'm not that jealously guarding info gathered during mining runs, for You'll find different stuff with different finders (some reach deeper, some scan more close to surface, some use enhancers but I don't, etc.) and miners skills are different, also the ingame hours they do their mining runs, so other miners may get different results than I do, even if they would drop probes right beside me on my runs.

Let alone on different hours on the same server and there's the luck-factor + many other factors set by MA that we don't know of. So pretty sure I've done no harm to other miners with different skills, gear, timezone etc. But regardless of skills and gear used, resources are found where they can be found. So feel free to use any info mentioned on my blog. That's the reason I keep it.

E.g. I've seen players globaling on Platinium on 8CS server, but I know I won't be finding those claims with my current skills/finder. When I do have skills what it takes to find it, I know where to try my luck. I'm waiting for it.

So yes, this kind of a map would be much appreciated.

Added new map (see top post). What do all think about this? Are the regions too big/too small?

First I thought those grids were still too big, but then noticed the thinner lines dividing then in 4

    Looks great :)

+Rep (Edit: would give if I could, but looks like I don't have any rep. points to share yet)

E-1 and 2 (east side of server border)
    F-1 and 2
    G-1 and 2
    H-1 and 2

100 double-drops (150ped on probes) and nothing but Lysterium and Crude Oil, +140peds worth of it, but still...

We had a team mining & mapping effort in the desert on Tuesday. Miners were Skywoulfe, T79x, Ruben, and Wolfgang. It was loads of fun and I think we'll even turn a bit of a profit once I get all the stuff sold. Together we burned through 20 rookie finders, made 260 drops, and found the following resources:

    B3b (veda, hydrogen)
    B3c (quil sap)
    B3d (ospra, hydrogen)
    B4d (somin, oil)
C1b (acid root, belkar, lyst, melchi)
    C1d (edres, melchi)
C2d (oil, edres, garcen, kaz, lyst, magerian)
    C3c (hydrogen, ospra, typonolic, veda)
C3d (force nexus, hydrogen, lyst, ospra)
D2a (oil, kaz, megan, ospra, somin)
    D2c (garcen)
    D3b (acid root, narc)
    D3c (oil, kaz, somin)
    D3d (kaz, narc, ospra, typ)
    D4b (alice, lyst, zolphic)
    D4d (kaz, ospra)
    D5b (kaz, oil, wenrex)
    D5d (kaz, oil)
    E3b (lyst, oil)
    E3c (lyst, oil, somin)
    E3d (lyst, oil)
    E4b (lyst, oil)
    E4d (lyst, oil)
