This is my first post here on ArkadiaForum and I would just like to share my first impressions of Arkadia. I have been playing EU since 2005 back when it was called Project Entropia and have seen all the ups and downs and changes to Entropia over the years, many good, some not so good and some pretty poor. Tried out most professions in EU: hunting, mining, some crafting, ran a booth selling high markup ores, a little coloring and texturizing, mentoring, you name it. Recently have mostly been mining and then wasting and small profit from markup on society hunts. After finally navigating through space and landing in Resolute Firebase Academy I decided to pack all my Calypsian gear away in a resettler container and try out what it is like getting a fresh start. Of course I have higher skills and more Health than a newcomer but I decided to do all the information missions and try out the TT gear. The plan is to loot better gear along the way. I have been skililng shortblade for a while and decided to get a few MANTAs from the TT along with the TT armour (having been assured that it isnt completely worthless like the Calysian equivalent, it also looks nice IMO) and FAP. The first mission to kill 10 Oro was a bit of a surprise. Running out into the field agroing a few too many and getting sent back to revive I quickly opted for a tagger, the TT blp rifle with 60 m range felt like a good idea. With the first IFA mission to kill 75 Oro, I must say I had an enjoyable evening, I can't wait to texturize some clothes with the Oro hides - they look sweet! Mining the training area was nice also with some decent markup ores, using the TT finder of course. It is nice to have some shorter goals again in EU; looting a better FAP is one, and some Arkadian armour and better shortblade hopefully. There are more missions to do, hopefully rewarded with something more inspiring than fragments (as many of the Calypsian missions are), lots of exploration and mapping out the good miningareas of course. And a lot to look forward too also, especially mining for artefacts. Well done team Arkadia, you seem to have brought life and story back to the Entropian Universe. Keep up the good work and hope many more Entropians find their way to Arkadia. /Mal
Glad you feel the same about Arkadia many of us do. A lot of us are looking forward to the evolution and potential of this planet and it's caretakers. Judging by the first three months, the future should be an exciting adventure.
I like the way you go by things, and a hearthy welcome to Arkadia.. Roaming this forum, and just experiencing the planet should quickly make you feel that Arkadia is MUCH different than Calypso.. No bickering in local chats and on forums (just the occational disagreements), a LOT of communication from Ark staff.. Arkadia is a very peaceful planet.. Remember that if you discover ANY bugs, to file them in the "Developer Feedback" section here on the forum.. They take our feedback and suggestions very seriously.. This means that if you get any (crazy) ideas/thoughts, you should post them too.. David and/or Cyrus will most deffo read/answer pretty quickly.. Another suggestion for you: find your time to listen to the interview i did with David Dobson - It is available for streaming or download in "general discussion" forum.. It is 1½ hours long, and will really give you an idea of the future of Arkadia, and what i mean with the communication regarding this planet.. Again - Welcome, and glad you feel like home.. Arkadia is my new home.. Im just "out of the house" atm, but will be home soon enough..
Very interesting to read this since I have started with the same mindset. I.e. have played on Calypso for a couple of years, came here and put all my Calypso gear in storage. Started playing with only the TT gear and some peds to see where it leads. It really gives a new refreshing feeling. It is really interesting to try to achieve certain "simple" goals, like crafting your first non-tt weapon. It leads to lots of different sub-goals along the way and has really enrichened my play experience. I really like how everything is connected and well thought out. We have a good storyline and the planet keeps to it.
Ah, thanks. Was a bit uncertain about where this thread fits in, and since Arkadia invoked the noob experience feeling... I think what Arkadia wins over Calypso is speed. The TT weapons are much faster, or at least feel faster. The distance from starting area to information is short and within 15 mins you are in the field doing missions. So far the slow grind feeling that Calypso has come to stand for IMO has not shown. Actually looking forward to logging on and doing the 400 Oro mission with my TT gear. I did not feel the same on Calypso when I tried out the beginner missions there in the same manner. Also being up front about depositing was the best thing you could do. No use leading new players along with "sweating for free" mentality when we all know that just depoing 20 USD will give you a much more enjoyable start with many hours hunting/mining if you play smart enough. Also the community seems to be pretty fast to reply! Thanks for the warm welcome. So far we are 3 or 4 society members on Arkadia out of around 20 active. I know that several members are waiting for the treasure update to come and I have a feeling several more will come to stay.
