With regards to whats being discussed in Treasure Hunting, I have some ideas about skills.

    Archeology
    Antropology
    Philosophy
    Linguistics
    Theology
    Sorcery
sixth sense or treasure sense or intuition- perhaps just artifact sense
    Decoding
    Metaphysics
    Escoterics
    Astrophysics
    particle physics
    salvage
    Astronomy

And specifics to deepseediving and cave diving could be from Openwater 1 up to DiveMaster.

Ok, here is my post from the treasure hunt thread, now in the right place.

I completely agree that there should be new skills and professions for a new planet. Also, it would be good if they were locked from the start so other planet players do not have to see them. They should only be unlocked then you do something on the new planet.

Unfortunately it seems MA has gone the other direction. I recently noted that the skill Calypso Ground Assessment have been renamed to Ground Assessment. I would like to do the opposite. Add skills named with planet name first. For example Arkadian Geography or something like it.

It is not easy to figure out good new skills or professions but here is one attempt.

    Profession:Explorer
    Skill: Calypso Geography
    Skill: Arkadian Geography
    Skill: Botany - minor part
    Skill:Zoology - minor part
    etc

Don't know what to use this for other than to show of the explorer career. This should obviously be something for all planets.

    Profession: Arkadian Explorer
    Skill:Language of natives
    Skill:Culture of natives
    Skill:Native Technology - minor part
    Skill:Native weaponry - minor part
    Skill:Arkadian Geography
    Some basic attributes

This would be the profession that will make it easier to understand the clues / text that you find. Completely new for Arkadia

    Profession:Arkadian Manufacturer
    Skill:Native Technology
    Skill:Native weaponry
    Skill:Engineering
    etc

This would be the profession to make old artefacts work again, or maybe use old parts to build a new, better, tool. Maybe there should be a separate profession to use old arkadian artefacts?

    Profession:Treasure Hunter
    Skill:Found treasures
Skill:Goverment Approval (based on delivered treasures to goverment or museums)

This is a profession that could work on all planets, maybe not just for treasure hunting, so the name is maybe not good. The main thing on arkadia would be to enable a good standing with the goverment to be able to be a licensed treaseure hunter.

Good idea, but I think Metaphisics and Sorcery should be merged into one. :)

Sorcery? You have to be kidding...that would be the start of WOW in space. Technology, yes absolutely but no magic, please.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If I wanted magic, I'd be playing WoW.

EU already has its own form of Magic...its called mindforce. The traditional "Magic" stuff if brought to Arkadia could be simply superstitions of the elder race of Arkadians long lost. It could be interesting to see old superstitions mixed with the technology of mindforce..

As for crap like buffs and things of that nature I pray MA or any other PP for that matter does not decend down that rabbit hole as it will only become yet another bain to EU's future and possible recovery. It would be just another tool to seperate the financially secure players from the less fortunate.

Sorcery is an ancient lost knowledge that has to do with the supernatural. Predeluvian to be exact. Ever read the books written by a UCLA Antropologist Carlos Castaneda? Over 12-15 books spanning over 10 years of learning from the sanoran Jacui Indians. No magic at all, but a Understanding of the Unseen, combination of various organic materials to bring about some amazing things.

Isnt Metaphysics the sum of all diciplines, both known and forgotten throughout time?

Not really. Methaphysics is a branch of philosophy concerned with explaining the fundamental nature of being and the world.

What do you mean with World Arkadia? Some virtual world or movie place or a place in real world called Arkadia? If the first two, I don't know them, unless you mean Planet Arkadia. And the only time I saw this name in real world was during vacation in Greece. It's a region there, as far as I remember. (sorry I'm having a DUH day ever since I got up)

But hey for our new planet.... Greek name is fitting...ancient...mythology...great philosophers...archeology... great loot.... oh wait... I mean food... :D

Looking at other planets so far I'm expecting all skills to be the same. Nice idea but I'd say its unlikely to happen.

It wont happen and I'm not sure if you can realy say its NICE idea.
To skill 5 years on Calypso and be noob on Arkadia? And what about when there are 10 planets, how much skills we gona have then? And who can balance all this diferent skills on diferent planets? The skills are prety much decided before even the game started and thats how it must/can be.

Having different skills on each planet will be a good deciding factor on how you play. Yes having many skills common may seem good for some aspects..I certainly hope for new skills as I dont want to be forever the low mn on the totempole like now with us Vs the betas.

Having new skill will give at least a little back to fairness if everyone has the chance to start even. Whether you choose to start new in a new profession will be a choice and not a mandate dictated by MA's adjustment of new skills for old players. Besides it will also be a way to keep each new planet unique as was the whole reason in the first place to develope new things for the platform.

I surely hope there will be more professions and variety in EU. Maybe not in the beginning, since not all of the systems have been converted, but at some point in the future. This will ensure that people do find what they like and what they wanna do as a hobby.
The diversity is essential to the platform, and I think MA knows that and this is exactly the what they have planet partners for.

I'm pretty sure MA has 2 teams working on systems, one team is supporting all the old systems and converting the ones that has not been implemented and another team is working on the new ones. At least I hope that that is the case.

I do hope that the new professions have something to do with the real world professions in a way.

MA and FPC seriusly need to focus on new plants for a while. They have stuffed farr to much garbage on Calypso. It looks like a digital dump now. I spent 2 hours last night flying around non LA property trying to find an open spot to mine and couldnt.

They have just gone totally whacko trying to bilk as much ped outta Calypsians before the sale goes thru. It truly pathetic that they have become this greedy not giving a care about the game its self any longer.

As much as Id like the old systems to return at this point I could care less I just want off Calypso becasue of all this crap. For me there is truely no fun. I just go thru the motions waiting till Arkadia comes.

Actually.... I think it would be great to have totally new skills and equipment that isn't transferable to other worlds. It will stop a lot of existing players from coming (which would be good as planet partners have to bring in their own players). And it gives a lot of people the chance to become uber. On calypso it is impossible to reach the skills and equipment some people have because of all the fixed bugs and skill nerfs.

I know it will never happen (well maybe on planet michael :)) but it is nice to have dreams

Actually.... I think the idea of everything here is that you can and will travel from planet to planet.

There are at least 4 non LA mining spots on Ameth. ok mainly oil & lyst, but personally I've had XI -XIV in these areas (not always)
+ a 2,8k HOF , you must walk through them, not fly over them, the ores do not shine up at you out of the ground
