There is no way to join as a pilot or gunner. Signing up for the Normandie always means you start out in repaircrew contributing to the ships survival showing on most flights that you are an active member of the crew. If you do this regularly and let the ships captain Alaina Bonnie Scotia or myself know that you would like to become a gunner you may get asked to join the gunners team to defend the ship when the need arrises and a spot is open. Only regular members of the gunner team who defend the Normandie on its passenger flights often - get to participate in hunting space horrors with mothership guns. Only regular members of the gunner team who also show commanding abilities and have the intention of doing their best on every position that needs to be filled, will get the opportunity to become a commanding officer onboard. Only commanding officers will get the opportunity to pilot the Normandie when the need arrises and a spot opens up. Only piloting commanding officers may get the opportunity to one day command their own ship as the Titans of Space Starfleet keeps growing. Those rules are in place to ensure the highest level of customer care, trust and security to our passengers and other travelers in space to make sure the Normandie never opens fire on a friendly target due to an unexperienced gunner or gunner with wrong intension. Some space transport providers out there offer pilot / gunner rights to most or many of their crew who sign up / join their service - Titans of Space is not such a service provider for us safety and trust comes first - we deem it highly risky to give a ship of such power into the hands of someone who might be hired by pirates and therefor have a very progressive command chain in place to make sure our crew consists of highly trustworthy crewmates and the ship at all times obides by our rules of conduct and protective to peaceful travelers in space. add. info: When choosing your means of transport you should always consider the total flight costs in comparison, the ToS Normandie offers an additional opportunity to save money on scheduled flights and on vip flights when requested. On scheduled flights we always go straight to the atmosphere so you can fly down safe with your shuttles just paying 2 ped entry tax or sharing seats and paying even less, often are free seats avaiable as well - and afterwards we dock to the respective spacestation where you can use the station teleport to get down to planet for 7Ped tp fee. Other providers who often offer logged out transport as they are missing crew can not provide the atmosphere departure as they wouldnt be able to offer that in a secure way since it happens in pvp. Choosing station over atmosphere equals to 5-7ped higher costs per flight. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- statistical passenger safety on 1107 warpflights and over one year of operation - 100%
Wow ... I love all the thought and detail that you put into this, very impressive. You mean serious business here ... I really love seeing stuff like this, and how some can really get involved. Nice job JBK.
Hi again John, I saw this posted on PCF, and wanted to offer some constructive criticism here... As fas as posting the (proposed) flight schedule for the Normandie... have you considered that this might invite large, organized groups of pirates to harass and otherwise attempt to disrupt your flight plans? It seems you are proposing positions to run the Normandie 24/7. Have you given any consideration that folks may not be able or willing to commit to six hour "work shifts" to fill your roster? Maybe consider running just one (or two) six hour shifts every day, rather than four? As far as this: I just found that funny. Best wishes, I look forward to hearing more about your adventures in SPAAAAAAAAAAACCCEEEEEEEEEEE.
looks cool, and well thought out, but i cant commit to a six hour schedule, my wife would kill me lol. i am however interested and would love to help fly a MS ,keep us posted on the Normandies readiness and such
I know what I'm signing up for Seriously though, this looks like a great initiative and business here. Very thorough. Indeed, the only reason why I can't sign up is because of the time commitment. 6 hours is probably going to be too long of a time for most people. My suggestion is to maybe hire/have a lot of potential crew members on your FL, and then that way you will always have people on and available to fill the crew of the ship. For example, if you added me to FL and then randomly PMed me at times asking if I could help out for a flight, it would be a lot easier for me to determine my time constraints etc. and then PM back whether I could or not. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with the venture!
May want to narrow down the work load to round trip time frame ... ie: crew A from Planet A to B, back to A ... so this can be done in say, no more then 2 hrs. Don't forget, this is just a game, not a job. jc
Hello Chrome, you are right that 6 hours might be a long shift for gamers, on the other side i know quite a few who play 6-10 hours a day. The shifts are currently set the way they are mostly due to one reason - a very basic guest list UI. The more shifts i add the more crewmembers i have to register and the less room i have for actual passengers. With the basic set above i would already be at 56 crewmates. Still it is the first draw and i might go down to a 2 hour shift eventually, we will see which timeframes are preferred by customers.
Hi. I think is good work what you do here with planning. I think as another mate say can be a problem pirates know where and when the ship will be, but this motherships are equal big passengers planes irl, must have a regular hours. Perhaps is posible hire more fighters for escort. And as others players say, steward work look funny. You not know how many VIP passengers you will have each trip, and how many of them will want steward. If total limit passengers and crew is 50, each steward mean one passenger cannot enter. Perhaps you can install some crafted screen in VIP zone and you can pass a film "stewards dancing" (or other things). Or some positions can be 2 works, Gunners do not work if pirates not attack, so you can have 1 or 2 working as steward, and go for defense if alarm sound. You can think i am joking but not. Greetings.
Hi, again. Sure you must do some training with your several crew. All that work pilot and copilot and gunners and engineering and escort fighthers moving all together for defense and repair ship under attack. Can be nice if you do a film about this. Greetings.
I can now confirm that offline transport is possible and reliable in motherships. I have currently around 80 registered crewmates and while we were yesterday on our 14 hour cruise hunting for perception traveling the entire universe and later on hunting spacemobs and doing transport flights at the end we had all the time people logging on joining the crewranks and others logging off taking a break. The Normandie will now offer 100% secure overnight transport. Get your stackables and utilize our service. For overnight flights their will be no official arrival / departure times. Just join the crew at the end of your ingame session and be at your desired target on the next day at the start of your ingame session. Boarding time today starting 21 MA time Orbit of Calypso - the Normandie will transport you safely to Arkadia. On Saturday 20 MA time the Normandie will be in Arkadias Orbit for you to safely log on and teleport down planetside. During this timeframe boarding for Arkadians to travel to Calypso is open. The guaranteed bording times in witch you can also log on and leave the ship will be 1 hour. Payment is 40 Ped per offline-passenger and 20 Ped per online-passenger (working in repaircrew). During boarding time you can either approach the ship with your shuttle and request guest list rights yourself or you can join a boarding team at twin peaks. The team will either be run by myself or by one of my boarding officers. It is not necessary to wait at twin peaks for the summon, when i got you on my friendlist i can summon you from whereever you are planetside.
Be carefull MindArk just confirmed it is not okay to mis use that feature http://www.entropiaforum.com/forum/ask-mindark/200356-motherships-have-no-risk.html#post2573658
Due to the actual reply from Kim|Mindark on entropiaforum they deem offline transport of stackables not ok. I wont change the schedule for tonight but will withraw my offer to charge 40 ped for offline transport. Its now just 20 ped per passenger. However there is no way that i as a player can control if someone gets disconnected due to provider issues or cause he pulled the plug himself. See you later onboard
The Normandie has accomplished its first officially scheduled flight and is now awaiting arkadian bussinessmen and tourists who would like to visit calypso. Offcial boarding time is 20 MA time today. There will be a Normandie team for summons provided in sanctuary cove / 8coins alternating.
Kim|Mindark statement of offline transport not being ok has been deleted on entropiaforum.com. For now there is no official statement that it is forbidden.
I am not charging offline transport separatly Atlan, i am just keeping my customers informed about what is offcially confirmed and what is not. The temporary statement you refer to didnt mention it being an exploit it just mentioned it not being ok and it was deleted by Mindark staff. If you want to pick on exploits, please be informed that i opened a thread on the mindark forum questioning the role of quadwings in regards to transports - since they allow for limitless fast secure transports anyway. I hope on your support on this issue as well while im having a hard time to understand why you want to make transport of goods to and from arkadia difficult and on the other side show such an effort for ASA to improve it. My current suggestion to mindark is implementing weight limitations to all spacecrafts including logged out avatars, that would be the best fix in my opinion.
Hello John, Maybe my post was not that clear formulated by me. I am not against you or any other MS owners, I just try to warn you. From past experiences I know that first there will be a lock and than things get sorted out. Currently there is no official statement that it is not a exploit, however MA has sayd it is not OK. You say this statement is deleted again, but we don't know why or if it was a bug on the forum etc. And it would be a shame if you or any other will be locked over this. If a solution is given to this current situation, than all the better. Regards, Ion
