    aditional clarification

    I have no problem with people making a buck online, if I had it I'd be doing it too. I met and talked to Deathifier on TI a few times when I mined there, he's an OK guy,and I dont hold it against him or anyone else for investing online, its going to be a big thing very soon I know.

    What I think this discussion missed when I mentioned small properties was that people are getting more and more invested in their games. Once it was an hour or so after work, then it became a big part of their Saturday, when the details started getting better. If things keep going as they are, having someplace to go to after work or on the weekends to escape from the reality of your too average life, will be seen as a blessing. So... we want our characters to have the best, dont we? The best guns, the best armor, a nice car or plane, whatever, so would owning a place to call your base of operations, just as a home online be so far fetched? It's great if you can afford to buy an asteroid, or make a major animal preserve to make money from hunters, but something that big isn't necessary for the average player who is slowly getting more and more involved in his games, until they become hobby's and even vacations, rather than killing an hour, they spend their whole weekend online, and those are the people all the investors are loving, they make your investment work.

    The project (all three creatures) worked out ok, although the Letomie was a real let-down.

    Hogglo is one I added and Neomaven actually managed to assemble his own sample of it a few years later, and it was probably suitably expensive given the Hogglo's popularity at the time.

    SEG are the only creature of note amongst the three and its contribution is relatively minor - it was rapidly superseeded by other DNA that I purchased, and by growth and change on Calypso in general.

    It has not been impossible (or even moderately difficult) to compete with and it has not capped or limited other investment options on Calypso.

    Well let me say this: I want to buy a Land Area and I have the cash ready to put in-game (convert to PED's) and make the buy. I'm a little unclear as to what the purchase of a Land Area would entail and what would be inclusive to the deed and then again exclusive. For example...Fertilizer, Outbuilding or "shed", Terminals, TP's, DNA and in-ground resources.

    Any an all posts, comments, answers, guides or links are much appreciated. +REP to anyone who is already an owner and and give me the facts. Feel free to PM me if you want to remain anonymous.

    Cheers & Good Luck to all in EU everywhere!

    Just thinking outside the box.
    I would like to see some sort of data that reflects the true value of and land areas in game. Or is it just offer X ped's to Planet developers and hope that the value is the around the peds offered.
    It would have been nice to see developers make a public offer to players pre development of planets with some sort of info and general details that might have increased the pre purchases of land . As i see it, it's just the same as buying off the plan appartment in real life in a high rise or a property that is not developed based on peds per sq. mtrs with a % for extra selling features eg Tp,shops (or in real life a school, mall, shops).
    I for one would be interest in looking at a off the plan ped purchases.

    I believe in the U.S.A. there are laws making it illegal to advertise high risk investments to "unsophisticated investors." (i.e. investable assets under $1m.)

    If you want this type of deal you'll need to your own scuttlebutt.

    I think it would be interesting to come on here with the coordinates of a small piece of land, say a little island and ask.."whats this worth?" and Dave could ask or figure it out. OK Dave's a busy guy, but maybe someone could in his organization.

    As was stated before by more than me...people are willing to spend hundreds of US dollars online to own something they can put their names on: a small island, a shack in the hills, a small valley between mountains, all places they might want..not for "economic reasons" but because they like them, if someone kills a global a hundred yards in front of your house..great, if not NP..that's not why some will buy them. And if its not "feasible" to think about the bother of selling small, even custom lots..then think this...the big places sold for a lot of money, but that was 2 pieces of land, big pieces with a hundred agreements up front. If you sell small bits, with very little in the way of rights..like maybe minerals and animal globals, that's it...then hundreds might buy, and the total sales could be as great as those two combined.

    I don´t want just land, i´d rather invest in an event area.. Like a factory building with 2 - 3 floors where you can bring your friends for some paintball/laser tag or similar.. The ammo should be free or very cheap and you only pay for the time you book the arena floor. If you bring 10 people there is a discount on the price and you can play for 30 Mins - 1 hour or so.. Similar to the fort PvP but not as serious.

    You don't need to question that I think. D and H know the game. They invested a lot of money before they could even see, if the planet will be good or even working.

    This is the most high risk investemnt done in EU so far. So of course they need to get some very exclusive content, otherwise the high risk wouldn't make any sense.

    I don't agree with really small pieces of land. If they break up land masses in small amounts there would be mass buy ups and people trying to resell for a profit. I also don't agree with limiting stuff like only 1 peice of anything to a person, this game is open market if you can afford it you should be able to buy it. When the purchaser finally realize it is hard to sell for a quick buck and fast turnaround they quit the game and the land would sit with no owner forever. Look at all the dang empty apartments empty everywhere mainly on Calypso (none for sale here yet :p). I so wanted to buy a choice apartment on Calypso but some dang person did just that bought up a ton could not turn a quick profit could not sell and now they sit empty forever. We would see unused land everywhere just like that.

    I'd rather see the people that want to invest hundreds of thousands of USD for large land chunks. They at least have an investment that will seriously hurt them unless they manage the land properly and they will most likely not just let things just sit idle for years and years and years and years and then forget about the game completely.. Which I could see happen with 1K to 10K USD land chunks.

    I do wish instead that you could rent land, apartments, etc from the owners of the land for whatever they set as prices for x amount of time or whatever, which if you don't pay the rent instead of getting locked out etc which use to be the problem. It would instead evict you and toss all your stuff into a main planet dump grounds (be like what they do in real life when they dump all your stuff on the front lawn when your evicted) where you have x amount of time to get it back or it gets put in the auction for tt value base bid for 7 days and whatever it goes for that amount gets put on your PED card. The owner still gets auction value for neglected items the items are still in the game and teaches the lesson to pay your rent LOL

    Just my opinion.

    K max i see what ur Saying, It is Very Frustrating to see Apartments and Houses Bought that Never Get Sold at all.. But At the Same time, There should be some type of equal Opprutinity to own LAnd,Even if those Small Pieces started out as a rent to buy, where if u pay the rent on it Faithfully for 12months u own it, add months to it depending on the size of it.. the biggest thing i had to get over in this game is the want to want everything.. but then when u see the loot and mobs just take your ped away, those infinite dreams and wants become a serious Frustration to people that can really do something with there land.. i mean for a min i was playing And depo'ing hopin for that big hit to become some type of land owner, but had to level down and just play because i like the game, then MA throws this fish in peoples face to race and win Motherships and Spaceships, And then u lose hope with in the first two days, its all very frustrating... So your Choice Is, Have 1mill in ped or feed the people that have one mill in ped.. I myself have a website, i do music, and all kinds of other stuff, but ive givin into the true reality of things, and i Work.. But if i could have some piece of land or Some Type of investment i would work it like "Nobodies Business But Mine"

    Ty, Rent to Own is good idea also... the Owners could make interest off their properties etc... and this would give the little broke players like us hope to own a piece of something.... I'd definitely do a rent to own contract for sure, would give you a chance to play with DNA, mob density and stuff and finding out if land ownership is for you. I doubt the Planet owners want to deal with all that headache, they are dealing with the planet as a whole they probably have not much time to deal with small contracts. Although it would be great thing for the Big purchasers to get more people interested in their lands and communities.

    Great idea

    Exactly, But All of the Estates Have Terminals.. If those terminals were given the Option to Rent to Buy or to just Rent, We would not have to worry About Relations (Ha, i Said "Relations" hehe) With the Actual land Owner. Those terminals Show Who Owns the LAnd and more.. Well with a Rent or a Rent to Buy option, it Could Show Who is Currently the Owner or Who Is Currently Renting the land and how long they will have the land for. And Ofc The Price, then with the Access to the terminal with such options it would have a Cap on the actual worth of the land. "Controlled Finances" To Avoid the People that do not own up to the Responsibility of Being a LA Owner.. And this could work with Any Estate.. Calypso has alot of Castles, Houses, and Mansions.. i believe this would all actually Become of some serious use if there was some type of deal like this.. (Hint.. Hint.. Dave What do ya Think ;) )

    My thoughts on LAs;
    As we know on Calypso the LAs are very expensive 150-300K each depending on returns. This essentially excludes 99.9% of players from owning land. As mentioned by David, owning small parcels of land such as islands etc without economic benefit is not desireable either. We have also seen how useless fort events on Calypso have been, with only the top 4 uber socs maintaining control over the land areas.

    So what do we do. Obviously Planet Arkadia PTY LTD need to raise funds every now and then with land sales, which has its place for wealthier players, but what for the average player? One option could be a structured investor plan. When Planet Arkadia releases a LA, there will be 10 investor spots available via auction. The highest bidders each get an investment place, but there is no point bidding 150K for a spot if someone else bids 1500Ped for another. Thus the natural course and speclation will even out the bid values for the LA investor spots. Once the 10 investors are successful, they own the LA and the taxes are split appropriately. A representative investor is elected to run the land and DNA etc. Its a very rough idea, but is a possible way to get LAs to investors like Qetesh did with Medusa.

    Another issue I see is the restriction on DNA, if we are to have many successful LAs we need DNA available! So many LAs on Calypso are barren because the DNA is too rare!

    Cheers
    Bjorn

    I don't know whether the present system allows it, but I would like to see a system whereby you could buy empty land and after that build your own structures, roads etc. on it. Obviously, this would be subject to review by the devs; for example, quite possibly you might build something so complicated that it would crash people's systems or even lead to server problems.

    Perhaps using a "library" of pre-designed components. This would possibly lead to another new thread in the crafting profession; BPs for prefabricated building components. Probably quite expensive in terms of raw material. And maybe new vehicles; "18-Wheeler Articulated Flatbed Truck (L)" :D for example.

    I would gladly pay 10-30k peds for a small piece of land (few hectare like a smallholding). Especially if we can design our own house etc. to be placed there... or possibly choose from a range of buildings to be placed there (for a price of course) :)

    A few examples:
    5ha empty property = 10k
    10ha empty property = 15k
    15ha empty property = 20k

    Optional extra: Owner will preff want to decide where buildings are to be placed
    Small Estate = 5k
    Medium Estate = 10k
    Large Estate = 15k
    Hangar = 10k
    Helipad = 2k
    TT/repair/etc. = 2k each
    Shopping booth = 3k each (maximum amount of booths)
    Shop = 5k-10k (depending on size)
    Shops/booths can then be rented out to other participants for a certain monthly charge

    The area does not have to have a fertilizer station or the option for dna.... this could even be added at an extra cost? Having a few areas like these with a teleporter near by could replace the traditional and boring outpost and create a more realistic town/city feel to the game... as well as bring in some extra cash for the planet partner.

    Just remember who gave you guys this idea if you do decide to use it :cool: ... a small discount perhaps ;)
