I would like to see a harvesting tool come to light and have built an outline for what I would like it to look like. I am interested in your comments to try to further brainstorm it and discuss any issues.

Here is what I have come up with over the last few years:

    Harvesting of what ?
Surely tree cutting devices already exist, and since the produce from trees is already very little used and therefore low MU, why would we need more ?
Stone and fruit collection just requires observation and persistence
Harvesting of crops on landplots would be for the owner to do and not require a radar based item
We don't need more tools to harvest more items that will have no place in the economy. There are already enough dead duck uncompleted projects in EU

Obviously I am missing something. Feel free to explain what you want to harvest, what purpose it will have in the economy, how you intend to use the tool(s) and the produce

    Hey Granny
I think you may have misunderstood. He wants to make a tool similar to like lbml to find trees easier and/or create your own map. Tree skilling do offer a few good skills. loot skills and so on. Entropia and dead end projects....... grr

Tree felling is worthwhile on Toulan due to the new daily butt joint mission so at least there is some hope...

Indeed it seems I did misunderstand, but that just leads to different questions.
How would the data be captured, LBML uses screen capture, which seems a lot of work for some timber, and I am not sure that the necessary info is displayed anyways. Mining has claims deeds and I am not sure but I think some or all of the info may come from them, or be triggered by them, trees ofc do not have claim deeds.
Reports sent in from players, in turn a lot of work for whoever has to collate it all. Also surely part f the fun of timber cutting is to go explore and find your own favourite spots, the lonelier the better, as likely to be more trees left uncut.
So I am not sure if a tool such as you describe is practical or how useful it would be in reality as could just cause saturation of some areas. What would help tree cutting more would be if MA and or planet partners followed Toulans lead and gave the produce purpose and thereby MU

My proposal was just a chat reader to make your own map. But if someone was so inclined they could go and verify a map of trees and make a global map for a website. You push a button reads system chat for position and marks the map. You can expand from there. fun little project. Ocr not really needed. Unless you want to get fancy. The code wouldn't take much time. making it look nice would take longer atleast for me. But ya you would have to have someone take submissions and verify for a map that everyone can see.

still just a concept. it is fairly simple, and very marketable. Chat log reader, database, compass display.

I think a map would be nice, but pretty useless. I mean, sure, one could zoom close enough to make it useful, and remove trees as they are harvested, but really, all you need is the distance and direction to the next closest tree. A map is a lot of work for very little reward.

A shared database, likewise, is nice and would provide better data, but is not vital or necessary. Could be an add on or upgrade. Likewise, a shared database would also help to obfuscate harvested trees for 24 hours, but would have to be updated as tress were harvested to be accurate. That may be an issue with the basic compass model since it may point to a tree that is not there and then what? Simply change TP.

(note to self, add "skip" button)
