Dev Notes #20 - Mission System Hunting Mission System Since the Entropia Universe mission system was introduced in VU 10.8.0, there have been continuous updates to the system to increase usability, improve features and expand into new areas of gameplay. With the original introduction of the mission system, there were only five missions available; this number has grown over the years to more than 4000 missions currently available in Entropia Universe. In this Dev Notes article we’d like to inform you of our plans for the most significant overhaul of the mission system to date, which is planned for release in the third quarter (Q3) of 2019. Planet Calypso will be the first planet to introduce the new mission system. The other Planet Partners will transition to the new system soon afterwards, once any issues are resolved and any necessary tweaks and adjustments are implemented. Main Features Hunting within a team or participating in a Shared Loot event will now reward all contributing participants relevant progression in their missions based on relative contribution (whether the contribution is made by damage dealing, healing, or scanning). Missions requiring kills of a specific creature will automatically begin whenever a qualifying creature is killed, removing the need to first interact with an NPC or mission terminal. Once a mission stage is completed, an interface will appear with reward(s). The next mission stage will automatically begin, even if you decide to choose rewards for the preceding stage at a later time. Bestiary The Bestiary is where you will find all relevant information regarding your avatar’s current progression in Hunting Challenge missions. Implementation As this is a completely new system that will replace the current mission system, progress in existing missions unfortunately cannot be carried over into the new system. Therefore, we are taking this opportunity to give all participants an alert to the upcoming changes several months in advance so that they have time to complete any active missions. There will also be a grace period where both the new and old systems will work in tandem, during which time kills on qualifying creatures will result in progress on both the old and new versions of the Hunting Challenge missions. This grace period will extend approximately one month from the implementation of the new mission system. Example You have the current “Iron Atrox IV” mission active. After the implementation of the new mission system, for each kill of a qualifying Atrox creature, you will receive progress on the new Atrox Hunting Challenge mission as well as on the legacy "Iron Atrox IV" mission. If you fulfill the requirements for the Iron Atrox IV mission during the grace period, you will receive the usual reward, but you will not be able to begin the legacy Iron Atrox V mission. Instead, you will automatically receive the next stage of the (new system) Atrox Hunting Challenge mission. When the one month grace period has elapsed, all missions from the old system will be disabled for all participants. Progress will no longer be possible for the deprecated missions, and uncompleted missions will not provide any rewards. There will be a similar grace period of one month from the implementation of the new mission system for Planet Partners. More info and specific dates will be provided as the Planet Partner implementation draws nearer. Continue reading...
So not satisfied with event after event after event on Calypso to undermine operation of other planets, we are now all expected to rush over there, increase the lag (like migration doesn't cause enough of it) and complete some missions. excellent timing MA. I'll do a couple I can't afford to lose, then am turning my back on Caly except for absolute essentials such as loots/ores that don't drop on ark. Already going to have to give up some missions I have spent a lot of time and ped on, so they needn't expect me back after the changes
I fully agree with Granny on this one, feels like scare tactics to make ppl come rushing to Caly to finish off their missions...surely they could´ve made a smoother transition between the two mission systems...this is laughable... ...also how will this effect missions such as the Oratan Payback mission chain etc found here on Arkadia??
Why can't existing mission progress be carried over? Great way to make people think "I'm not hunting all those hard to find oratan all over again...."
see reply from Dennis of MindArk on pcf, seems they have listened to concerns and revised the overlap period to approx 1 year. http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/forums/showthread.php?311400-Dev-Notes-20-Mission-System/page17
Hi as u can see from reply #165 found here : http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/f...ssion-System&p=3720549&viewfull=1#post3720549 and in this screenshot: it appears that our missions will be unaffected, just the iron missions.. i presume this translates to ifn killpoint challenges like in the below image i dont know if the normal challenges are affected such as ifn challenge zadul stage 2 also shown in the below image i guess we need to wait for more clarification as and when A-Team get it but good to know that it seems our oratan payback mission progress safe...well i hope lol JJ
Hi everyone, Just to add something to this - We are working close with MA to make sure that all missions on Arkadia that require you to push through quite a bit of mobs such as the IFN leveling process as well as the future Smuggler one will not be affected by this change. We want you all to know that we are working hard to make this as seamless as possible for those who have already invested in the missions. But please keep track of announcements regarding this matter as we will also update you on changes on our side.
Indeed thx for keeping us updated @Dylan | Arkadia, if I loose all my progress working towards the dropship I would most probably quit, that would be the final straw for me.
Thanks for letting us know.Is there any update on mining strong boxes not dropping on arkadia or moon?i have been watching the thread for a while and still no reply to that.
Further to the question re progress towards dropship, what about progress towards unlock for smugglers and the warehouses ? I am still undecided if I should ever go smuggler and decided to hold off on the expense of the uniform etc until I was at or close to finishing the missions in ark underground in order to unlock warehouses (if I turn smuggler). So personally not too bothered. But if this is to be lost to all those with a good deal of progress but, unlikely to complete in the time frame, what then ? This would be a serious blow to Arkadia as they will have invested a lot of time and ped, yet will doubtless blame the Ark Devs, even though it is an MA inflicted change.
I simply hope it won't affect missions that have another rewards as mere skills. I can understand the IFN killpoint missions disappearing, but indeed dropship/ underground smuggler missions should stay, since they reward with an item or access door to the warehouse.
It would be heartbreaking if the Killpoint Missions that I am working through disappeared - skills may be of small consequence to some. especially if they have completed the missions. They are of much more consequence to those spending blood sweat & tears (not 2 mention peds) trying to get there. I hope that I get a chance to complete - at least the Oratan one. I hope & pray you are right JJ
