So this Shop floor bug (falling through the floors or getting stuck) has been "bugging" me for years. I noticed that customers started standing on my tables and furniture to mitigate falling through the floor. So I thought i'd provide something for them to stand on while they shopped. I crafted some carpets, and it seemed to work, since putting the carpets down I have not fallen through the floor, whilst standing on a carpet yet. I do fall while moving between them, but as long as i move towards a carpet, I appear on the carpet. By all means try it out for yourself. If is this solution works, it might be nice if MA brings out Blueprints for carpets that covers the WHOLE floor, like a fitted carpet or make it so estate owners can apply textures to their estate floors and perhaps walls and ceilings too ?
I can confirm that rugs and standing on tables works to improve stability within shops and apartments....BUT While rugs are a good work around, it is at a cost. Not only the cost of buying/crafting the rug you otherwise would not need, but also the loss of item points now taken up by the rugs. I am also concerned that if we make the work-arounds too good then MA will push the 'need to fix' even further down the to do list, as complaints will dry up. So while I understand the wish to improve the shopping experience for our customers, and reduce the nuisance for shop-owners when restocking, I am not sure it will help us in the long term Also if the fix is as simple as a rug, or standing on a table then 2 points remain unanswered 1. As the floors already have a wood grain panelling covering why is this not seen same way as a rug and therefore work as designed.. does it simply need raising a pixel or two ? 2. I am not sure it will work as consistently as Dove hopes as I have been standing on the tables for well over a year to circumvent the floor issue, and it works well most of the time, but I have none the less had drop outs while on a table or shelf, have even been thrown across the room, into the wall (then stuck) or occasionally in one shop thrown through the wall to outside. This is not just an Ark issue, it happens elsewhere too, and the hours lost by owners fighting to get stock onto display and priced coupled with the loss of customers when the frustrated simply go to the Auction instead is way beyond a joke, MA need to fix this and stop treating their investors so shabbily.
that's the christmas one I was talking about. They are fairly cheap on auction most times... and take up a lot of space on the floor, but unfortunately also take up a lot of height since that head is so honking big. I do have one in my Christmas themed apartment, but sadly, not even it helps if the entire walls and floor disappear. I personally think it all has to do with how Mindark codes things in the 'back buffer' of the game engine... they don't load things in at the right priority level, so some things come in to view and 'real' in the virtual reality before others, and sadly floors aren't highest thing in that list as they should... might take major coding overhaul to do it right, which I don't think is high on the priority list at all.
If Mindark would give all shopowners 20 item points for free, because they are too incompetent to fix this (on all planets) it would make me happy. Could Also add wooden planks instead of carpets.
