    Hey :)
Is there any "must have" or maybe just a good allround armor after musca adj (mentor reward)? Budget for me is around 700PED for armor+plates

you can get Gremlin which is a decent mid - level set for less than 700 ped. With 5b plates in you can hunt a wide range of mobs - enough to keep you occupied for years. But as slapper said, use the entropedia tool to see how different sets compare with each other and against different mobs with or without plates.

til you get tired of that armor too and want to sell it off or TT it, or pawn it to the bank for a few days as some have done with Gremlin multiple times, sometimes on purpose, other times not on purpose over the years... (bank rates on gremlin at Argus are not super great, but ok for a payday loan type thing)

Sure, but you just get back the 600 ped TT value of the materials. You loose all the MU spent on the materials to say nothing of anything spent on tiering it up.

Actually you get a token from Billy that is only worth the 400 ped TT of the set not the 600 ped of mats that were used to "purchase" the set from him.

Ah thanks for that :) Its an even worse deal than I thought. Needless to say, I've not bothered with the Viceroy, partly because I don't like tied items and partly because I saw no good reason to spend 600 + ped on an armour set that had nearly the same stats as my Gremlin. Also, the OP specified about a 700 ped budget for armour + plate set, and he'd be spending nearly that much on the armour set alone if he went for Viceroy.

    I upgraded from Musca to a Mahketta + 5Bs.

Its TT is much lower than Gremlin and it allows for more hunting flexibility with its decent penetration/burning protection. Plus, teh armor has a different look from most Entropia armors.

Viceroy has better stats than Gremlin. Better durability and more acid protection. You lose 2 electric, which wasn't useful anyway.

Not many mobs do a lot of acid damage and if I wanted to hunt those, I'd use my Rutuba set or put Pulsar 4 plates on my Gremlin. Durability? Gremlin 2950, Viceroy 3000. That's not an important difference.

Rutuba is in a whole different class with much higher protection all around, not to mention limited only and parts have quite a markup (ca. 200% last time I looked). A set costs significantly more than anything talked about above (for some it's also a hot fashion item esp. for F avas). If you have one anyway that's great, but I don't think suitable advice for a purchase decision on the levels asked about.

Arkadian mobs with acid damage are Madana (incl. Mutated), Wombana, Halix. Big Halix, small Madana and small to medium Wombana can be covered with Adj. Musca if you need armour at all, but for the rest a Gremlin or Viceroy with or without plates is actually ideal. Only biggest Madana get a little tough in this gear, but the owner of the relevant landarea has shown mercy in this regard.

The Viceroy mission setup will be controversial until the cows come home, but you actually pay 150% TT for TT and this way get an unlimited item at a fixed price. I found it fun to hunt for all the stuff myself, others just want to buy it. You can return it for its TT value only, so yes you need to actually want to put it to good use before/if that happens. Then there is the upgrade path, for those who are interested in it the materials needed have fallen in price since the beginning, Adjusted Nanites remain a hurdle but the rest has eased quite a bit. No need to rush it anyway, you don't want to ever sell it back if you choose to upgrade.

Gremlin used to be cheaper but markups have increased for some parts in recent months, esp. male thigh guards and gloves. The numbers on EntropiaWiki are quite outdated. The whole set now hardly can be had below TT+300, and its full TT at 484 PED is higher than Viceroy. With markups for all the Viceroy materials, both cost about the same now. One may see a possible investment with Gremlin there, speculating that it doesn't fall again. There is no simple way to say which is better, depends on individual preference.

Aside from acid protection, both are good allround sets for most things on Arkadia up to a level (maybe except Bokol, Kiana and Defense Bots which deal penetration) and absolutely make sense as a next upgrade step. However, they both exhaust your stated budget without plates already. If you haven't used plates yet to extend the reach of your existing armour, I would explore that first as suggested above.

If you do want something just a bit stronger without spending too much money, or for an interim period until making a decision, maybe look into limited crafted sets. Arkadia has quite a selection, no rare materials in the blueprints so supplies shouldn't become a problem. Zombie (L) fits this bill, too, which has done me good service but not all craftables from elsewhere are that easy to make, so better ask the crafter how it is with replacements if you go further out. You can also replace it with your chosen unlimited gear piece by piece as they expire and this way avoid having to cough up a large amount of money at once.

Just a side thought but Ghost is a fairly cheap to purchase (except the feet) set of armor. The decay can be a bit harsh tho but with decay being mostly compensated now in loot it should even out in the long run.

yep, ghost and gremlin are pretty close to one another in protection level mostly... but imho blue gremlin is mighty pretty vs that ugly ass color on the ghost, lol. ;)

(note I probably will buy viceroy eventually, but not for a couple of years til I get some other investments taken care of)

This was the combo I was going to suggest. Great versatility for the price. And if you need to go up against major pen/burn mobs in the future, adding 6A will give you very good protection.

I have a few armors :D Mah'ketta is definitely a good choice, both as bot armor and as cut stab imp armor, mah'ketta and 6a and 5 b should have you covered for most mobs.
The difference between gremlin and ghost is significant. gremlin has 35 cut stab imp while ghost has 47. Those 12 points matter :))

If you are a casual player, that needs just something a bit better than adj musca get shogun with 5b. Always a classic and easy to get a hold of.
