I thought that you can't put more than 500 items in the storage, but I actually can put more.

Is the number turning yellow the only consequence of that or are there any other penalties?

what I heard is that some items might "get lost", you wont see them in game but they are still visible if you log into your account on the webpage and if you remove some items and relog they show up again.

please correct and educate me if this is wrong

Also, if you like to organize your inventory into pretty little rows, you might lose a bit of that. Go chaos!

Hopefully MA increase the limit sooner rather than later. 1000 items would make far more sense

That's strange... so no one knows the storage limit but the more you put above 500 items the more likely something goes wrong?

I thought the software behaved in a more predictable way

Plus: the order gets messed up. And, even worse, you cannot stack them anymore. Example: you had 499 items. You stack 40 items from your last hunt into it and want to stack them after that, this will not work, even if you can see and touch each.

OK, thanks, I understand that you shouldn't keep more than 499 there...

still just a theoretical question - how many items you can put in the storage, max?

    Does anyone know the limit?

There is no limit. When I moved to Arkadia I tested that before stacking and using containers. I stopped at 800+ items, so I assume no limit.

My trader told me that you get a warning at a certain ammount. You can still put in more stuff but you will have to click away the warning. I think it is wise to get some containers BEFORE you approach the 500 limit. I mean they make life easier for armor parts and with just stackable I don´t think I´ll ever pass the limit.

I know only one limit, but not related to storage
    individually avatars carry 200 items
once during trade I did not stack items and 406 was the limit beyond which I could not add a single item to my avatar
have not checked about the storage

I don't know if there is a hard limit, but ive never lost anything going past 500.

There are *issues* tho. It will only load 500 items. Once you put in item 501, one of the items that is loaded will be a *ghost* item. You wont be able to interact with it. If you put in 10 more items, you'll get 10 more ghost items in which interaction will be broken.

Next time you log back in you will only see 500 again, which will all work. Remove an item, and reload storage and you will see 500 again, etc.

Items that don't show up keep their place in storage. So this can cause a lot of unintentional storage rearrangement which can be annoying. If you put an item on top of a hidden item, and then remove enough items that the hidden one becomes visible. It will toss the other items up to the top of storage. Which can move other items in a chain reaction, and screw up your organization. You can deal with this by keeping spaces up at the top of each section. As well as organizing things such that if an item disappears you know it and wont reuse that spot, etc.

You can work with a few items over pretty easy. You can deal with 100 over with some hassle. IE sometimes you might need to pull out 100 items to find the item that you want to pull out because its hidden. And then put all 100 back, which will leave you with 100 *ghost* items in storage(and not necessarily the ones you just put in). Which you wont be able to interact with until you relog. That can be annoying. But you shouldn't ever lose anything, so its *safe*.

Doing the molisk iron+bronze missions put me like 150 items past 500 with all the crap armor and chips i didn't want to TT. It took months to slowly sell it off and get back below 500, but i didn't lose anything.

    ----------

The short version, it seems to be perfectly safe, but there is hassle involved with keeping more then 500 in storage.
