There's actually a little story that goes along with this Global that's rather cute.

Moonie and I were flying around getting TP's and were over the snowy region in the northwest. All of a sudden my system shut down, and there Moonie was all alone in the SpaceShip9 with no pilot, but on his screen, I was still in the pilot's seat while we were crashing to the ground and he couldn't change seats to take over.

When I got my system back up, I reconnected with Moonie on Skype before logging into EU, and he was quite animated in explaining the unfolding event as he and the ship crashed. He has a wicked sense of humor, so I was laughing my ass off the entire time. He said that he survived, but that the ship took quite a bit of damage and he had repaired it before it disappeared (took me a bit to get back into the game).

At any rate ... once I got back in, Moonie suggested that we use our dune buggies to head north from where we were to go check out a marking on the map that he was curious about. I said sure, because the snowy terrain looked great and it would add a bit more adventure to the excursion.

Well, while it was awesome flyin' through the snow and watching it kick up behind us, we came upon a herd of big-ass white kitty cats. I said let's go around them and not aggro any of them because they looked pretty ferocious. Moonie said ... nah, let's just keep going and head right through them ... don't stop.

Umm ... adventurer and dare devil that Moonie is ... sometimes I just go with the flow, even though I'm usually right about the outcome. :p

We soon found out that those big-ass white kitty cats were not only huge and aggressive, but incredibly FAST, and took a major chunk out of our asses (AND vehicles) stopping us dead in our tracks right before the vehicles blew up, and right before totally devouring us.

Needless to say, we met up at the revive at an Outpost that we hadn't discovered yet, but it didn't have a TP. There were roads leading out from the Outpost, and I said let's just run out and see where they lead instead of taking a vehicle or aircraft.

Well ... one of the roads led out into an open area where we could see red dots, and I said, let's see what they are as I whipped out my Bravo. Moonie said ... Nooooo, I don't want to see any more big-ass kitties ... LOL.

I like an adrenaline rush as much as the next thrill seeker, so I went for it. It ended up being an Old Otorugi, which is actually the mob that Moonie saw from the air and said how cool they were. As the mob ran toward me, I equipped the LR-63 and started pumping lead into him, watching the regen action, but I finally took him down without losing much health, and then ...

I had to post both pics because my loot window was over the chat area, but this was certainly an unexpected surprise, and the only mob that lost its life during our evening excursion. :)

Let's see what our next outing may bring. :p

Hey, it's a very special weapon (there's a side clip of purple juice too). :p

Bottom line ... no matter what form the bullets came in they did the job. :)

Any time I get together with Moonie in EU it's an adventure ... and the one person I know to always expect the unexpected with, but that's what makes time with him so crazy. We've been together as a virtual couple now for almost 6 years (July 14th) ... I love him dearly. :)

Big congrats on the nice loot MS9 :)

I was wondering how hard those white kittens hit you for through what armor.
I am on Arkadia for a few hours tonight and thinking about hunting them but their damage potential isnt on entropedia yet.

    thanks, and gz again :)

Hey Zen ... we might be able to try that sometime when we can get together - I'm sure Moonie would love to get some revenge on those big-ass cats. :p

To be honest Narf ... I don't remember what the damage was when they hit. It all happened so quickly, and I couldn't believe how fast they were. One of the cats that I zoomed past - or thought I zoomed past - was on me SO quick (along with others), that it was all over before we knew it, so it wasn't just one cat, but several - Moonie wanted a party I guess. :p

I can tell you this ... I was wearing 4 pieces of Tiger armor and 3 pieces of Rutuba, and I didn't have a chance in hell to even get a weapon out before I was down. Moonie wasn't wearing any armor and his HP I think is about 135 ... my HP has basically gone from about 140 to 142 since about April 2008 right after I got my ATH, which was when I think both of us stopped skilling, and may have only killed a few mobs since then.

Not sure if that information helps any. I wish I had paid more attention, but unfortunately I didn't, sorry.

As a side-note ... I basically created my own profession within the game years ago (media/writer/journalist/news reporter), and it's been quite rare that I've engaged in any hunting whatsoever (haven't done any of the other professions either). A week ago I joined Chrome's Oratan Offensive and will do the same this week. I have a feeling being on Arkadia I will be inspired to do more than just media work. :)

    Driving in Snow

A side question - how is driving in the snow? Do you feel like you have less grip/traction, or is it just visual? (The visuals sound nice, though)

    Cheers!

    Miles

    :) my first AF post!

*edit - ok, my second, forgot about the other one.

Hey there Miles ... welcome to the Arkadia Forum ... it's a great place! :)

As far as driving in the snow - I didn't notice anything with regard to the traction, or any slippery stuff going on, so I think it's just a visual thing, but it's quite cool.

You being the daredevil that you are in your vehicles, perhaps you should take those buggies for a test drive in the Arkadia Tundra. :p

The terrain on Arkadia is so much better for driving. Dave told me that he definitely had that in mind, so if you're not already on Arkadia, get your fleet up here and ...

Here's some driving music for you ...
