In the past housing has been based off of when they put the places into auction and some player with tons of ped buy em all out and eventually play the market which gets old. This experience has happened on calypso, rocktropia, and Next Island with any major new hot spots or shops that have come open where they end up being bought out to an extent where it becomes impossible to beat the 2-3k ped drop on the apts, shops, certain estates.

I think it would be nice to see maybe one specific area with shops to not be placed into auction right away. But instead have a specific price set on each place where we can buy them first hand and let us either sell or use them based off of that. But make it so there are limits for each person to how many they can buy maybe 1 of each starting and then they can buy from players later on. of course there are always gonna be those double account players or players that pay off other players to buy these shops, apts. for them which is really lame for anyone to do.

Another idea is why not make it in a set of events made for all types of levels not just extreme uber hunting on some lvl 60-85 mobs which is terrible for anyone that starts off and wants to get somewhere but cant kill off these mobs. Even if its like 100 people or so with 5 apartments/shops to give away for most loot killed in a specific area with those lvl mobs bcuz then its based off even luck. Doesnt even have to be hunting or mining maybe something like a true treasure huntign experience for fun where you can loot keys that lead to a treasure box with deeds(i have a feeling this is somewhat being implemented already but unsure)

I would also like to hear other ideas or have mine corrected to be a better :)

This would also be one option.

If Arkadia staff makes an event, where they sell those apartments or shops in pre-set batches, like 3 apartment and 1 shop per each server and anyone who finds an event ticket (4 tickets per server), on the ground and brings it back to event organizer, gets his/her chance to buy an apartment or a shop.

If he or she who ever finds the ticket doesn't have funds to buy shop/apartment to go with that ticket, then it might be sold to someone who has the funds ready for such a purchase.

The kind of a event that Hugh Willose started on the link above, is still huge success, because everyone has even chances finding it. Noobs and Ubers are on the same line...

Just think of a noob who just started on Arkadia with limited or no funds at all. That would be like getting a HoF, if some fresh noob finds this kind of a event ticket and knows that someone would pay few xxx peds to get it.

I know that if I would found one, it would be like a HoF for me too! :p

It could be ongoing event until all the available shops/apartments are sold.

One good point if doing it this way, would be the fact that who ever would want to get an apartment or a shop from Arkadia, would actually have to come to Arkadia and do the running in order to find that ticket.

And this way it wouldn't be over in few days like it would if all were sold on auc. but it would attract more attention to Arkadia and bring more players from other planets. And if Arkadia is known that here one can loot even Alienware, why not shops/apartments the same way... although apartments/shops would not be given for free, but at least with that ticket, You would have better chance than buying it from auc in some bid-war.

why not just place the deeds in loot on random mobs at random times just like the alienware stuff. then everybody has a chance at it, because they would be on noob mobs and uber mobs alike

Yeah but still then ppl could overprice em and thats the only think that bugs me is when someone goes and sky rockets the price to almost 3-4k ped which is ridiculous especially if its just a small shop and even worse when a player that buys all the shops to resell for even higher prices that give none of us middle players a chance at these shops for good use instead of them sitting there owned by the same person for only selling use over time to play with the price

I like that idea its incredible :D Its just planned out enough to support even newer players and older players because i know if i find a new player that had found a ticket i would pay that new player for the ticket if it meant a chance at a nice shop which supports both sides of the player economy. Though that comes down to the amount of tickets available then might cause problems because imagine a few tickets available so that its overpriced on the shop because 2k ped for a ticket from a noob is ridiculous if the shop cost about the same and doesnt cost extra for the shop/apartment itself. So really with a few tweaks to that would be brilliant :D

A weird idea... smaller shops... 10 items each... like the booths back on Calypso... so like one shop on calypso with 50 slots would be 5 deeds... same number of slots that other planets have, since I think Mindark might have a rule about x amount of slots per x amount of participants, but since the deeds would be for fewer slots, more people would own the shops and there would be a heck of a lot more deeds.

I'd always thought that the idea of a Sunday Market/car boot type sale, stalls with time-limited access/sales rights, which colonists could 'rent' for, e.g. 24 hours, would be useful. People could clear out storage, sell sets of armour, etc. And it would encourage people to meet, mingle and socialise and create a more communal spirit. One day a week, or one weekend a month, that sort of frequency perhaps?

Alternatively, how about something like the retail sales table but (L), which holds a maximum of 7 items at any one time (armour set) and decays every time an item is added or sold? And which can be placed in any owned property?

Just a thought, let me know what you think :)

Renting vehicles/weapons/armors shouldn't be very difficult to program. Just issue a 'title' or 'deed' that has an expiration date/time. Upon expiration of the deed, the property automatically returns to the owner. This could also be used to thwart scammers.:D

This could be something interesting, but it cant decay when you put stuff on it or what if you try to position it nicely and once you place the last item you dont like the look and need to redo it?

But then how would you introduce it so it wont take too much business from normal shops who people invest ped in and shopkeepers :/ (or make these 'Arkadia shopkeepers')
