Sentosa's Reach (ALA4) - Needs a new name!

Opening this thread so that people can send me suggestions and discuss about it!

I want the LA's name to be sober, in the sense that it should fit within the immersive environment of Arkadia, while trying to retain some sort of personal relation to it's current owner (myself). Somethign short and catchy.

I'm trying to get away from the Calypso's: "XXX LA win big at North of Whatever TP (Coords)" kinda thing... I think the LA and Arkadia itself deserve a more fitting name than just a chance of advertisement from my end... Hence why I am asking for the communities help with it.

By all means however, if your name does not correspond to the vision above, feel free to post it anyway, as all suggestions are welcome I might even change my mind if it's that cool

The items I have for inspiration at the moment are:

• Mist - LA is mostly surrounded by mist up in the north;
• Caligo - Another expression for heavy mist or fog;
• Caligem - Portuguese expression for Caligo (heavy fog or heavy mist);
• Haze - Another mist expression;
  
• Kulokhar - Region's name;
• Khorudoul - Fortress town in the region (inside Smuggler territory from what I was told);
• Cryo - indicating low temperature; frost, cold, or freezing:
• Nix - Snow in latin;
• Glacier - Frosty zone;
• Tundra - Low temperature biome;

I also took some random imagery to give some ambience feel of the LA to see if people get inspired by something:



These rocky formations are located NW of the LA and seem to be one of the more specific terrain features in existance in it. I also noticed they only exist near the LA and nowhere else on Arkadia's Map.



Some have called them fjords, others eskers... I am quite divided as to what they really are, and would really like to know!

I stick with the suggestions I made in game: Misty Shores or Misty Fjords

 

How about StArk

 

I don't really have any shores nearby the LA to consider it, I was also looking for something more specific, that make it a unique spot, and not just a generalized place.

The first thing that comes to mind when saying that is Ironman

Nix Haven.

Nix = "snow" in latin

 

Kulokhar !

sound like Ark name,
weapon, land...
Khorum, Songkra, Akaas etc...

 

Using the latin words wouldn't be badly thought I supose But I am looking for something a bit more defining, Nix Haven feels very broad.

Kulokhar is the name of the arctic region, hence why I placed it there, however it feels rather vague and its hard to pronunciate and memorize...

Don't get me wrong though, I am taking notes! ^_^

 

Lemme mix em up haahha

• Cyrokhar (cyro and Kulokhar)
• Khorlago (Khoruduol and Caligo)
• Khoruhaz'kar (khorudoul, haze, kulokhar)
• Cali'huzkar (Caligo, haze, kulokhar)
• Cryogem (too cool for a name)
• Haz'Hurodoul (haze, khoruodul)

It's like naming a baby orc...

 

Going with the theme of the other two LAs (Khorum Coast and Songkra Valley), I'd say Quenta Cliffs or Starrix Strand.

 

Kulokhar Cliff/Ridge/Rise/Mesa/Reach.

 

From some of the 'trees"/landscape how about Clawtundra

Hm, might be onto something there Didn't think of looking at it from that perspective hehe.

What would be the connection of them with the LA? I don't think you can loot those from the ground up on it Although they don't sound half bad hehe... Same as a few posts above applies though, I was trying to get a more original look into it, without breaking the immersion much.

I like Reach, but as someone already told me, it is more inclined toward water features than terrain features Mesa sounds a lot like a calypso LA hehe, Rise and Ridge I would say could fit in somehow.

hehe I don't think it doesn't fit into the whole immersion thing hehe...


For example... one name that stuck in my mind was:
"Starkiller's Reach" or "Star's Reach" - It would have a simbolic meaning and be slightly related to myself, without breaking the immersion that much It would be named like a special area or something like in other games and even RL area naming.
Other options were:

• Starkiller's Rise;
• Starkiller's Ridge;

And no it's not a necessity having my nickname into the LA's name by any means, but it would sure be cool to be a part of the Planet Just like on Calypso with the TP names!

I wouldnt tie it to a specific mobs incase you plan or changing or to your name incase the opportunity to sell the area presents itself. Just my thoughts

 

I don't really want to tie it to the mob within the LA as that can always change or be made additions to, and then its an extra expense

Yep, I don't want that all, however calling it with my name wouldn't be all that hurtful i think as It would be like caly's TP naming and all that but that's how I see it...

In any case what do people think of "CryoTear's Rise"?

 

Those landform "Fingers" are generally a Spit or Bar.
I still like the Kulokhar name so maybe - Kulokhar's Bar

Other Land formation that may suit are Plateau or Bluff.

I thought of a few that are possibly hard-to-remember and some silly ones:
ie) Fjords of Kuulkilhar, KholoKilrr's Treasures, St. Ar Kulokhar's Hoard, StarKlaws, Starhofkilla

But I'd like to suggest 1 that might be kinda catchy and exotically-Arkadian sounding too. (+hidden name)
