    Pirates Attack Monria Passenger Service

The Maiden voyage of the Monria Free Space Travel Program was attacked!

The Monrian Mothership Yamato crewed by The Knights of Entropia (TKoE) was raided last week by an infamous pair of space wolves.

It seems the pirates coordinated their attack to strike before warp could be achieved.

Despite the threat the crew succeeded in beating off the pirates and drove the dastardly duo into retreat.

The captain of the ship General Xander Zan Catman said “I am extremely proud of how the crew handled the pirates we encountered…”

See the Monria forum thread for further details.

(Disclaimer: not a pirate) Pirates are part of the game, they aren't advertising thieving since the pirates did not loot anything. It is all part of game mechanics. Love them or hate them, i travel safely by loving them :)

The social consequences of pirating are part of the game, too.

Someone needs biology lessons. Canis lupus != Canis aureus.

Run, snatch, retreat if failed - that's typical of the latter.

Not worth a debate here but more or less what MA is saying is that one can come into EU and steal from others for the chance to win it big and withdraw. It is sad to see that so many will justify this in a RCE game.

I thought arkbot only states official news here? So, is a pirate attack official news?

    It is so by design.

What raises my eyebrows is that they are getting official recognition in this way.

Well lets remember how much free profit Mindark makes from piracy.

Let's not call piracy. Pirates were thieves in an age where there was no police, no law to prevent robbery. What amuses me is a sci-fi futuristic game with rules that predates the Neandertals. I would be ok if they had a space police and if someone was caught would need either escape from prision or serve online time in virtual jail. You know why they don't change these pre-historial rules? They don't want to develop more content that would be needed to support the model. They barelly wanna fix the existing issues.

I'm just glad to hear they "succeeded in beating off the pirates"

    C'mon, that's funny.

More like the Pirates gave up and left. Not sure what the hype is all about, two pirates attacking a MS is hardly noteworthy. Over on Normandie, we call that an annoyance (that never succeeds).

Pirate attacks are relatively common, especially if you are flying on a quad or sliep thru space.

So, does that mean anytime a couple of pirates shoot a MS, it will become official news?

Hence why I find this "news" odd.

I don't talk to mob, even though some are adorable. And when Hogglo Diablos wreak havoc in Twin Peaks, or Oratan Axes rummage through Celeste, then it is newsworthy. When pirates do what pirates do, it is not. So I'm wondering what they are trying to convey with this piece.

Seems to me that its basically an official promotion for the new service. The pirate attack was probably just incidental, Micjack and smokitup doing what they do best - wasting peds on targets like this. :p
