24 Hours Mêlée all the Way!

Little bit less then 5 hours to go. It's now 02:50. 78.48% return with a loss of 711,55 PEDs. Just terrible were Riptor, Korwil and Badger_710R.
After Yuka we've done Madana, Mutated Beladoth & Otorugi, Scoria, Badger_710R and last Teladon.

 

That was fun to do.
I joined the slashing party for a bit, and was in on some swirlies.
Got some nice melee skill gains in the mean time, and unexpectedly came out just in the positive.
I never used melee on these mobs before, so that was an enjoyable new experience.
Thanks for the birthday event: next one when you're turning twenty?

Has finally converted some of us to play around a bit with melee This was rather fun to do and to see some of Ardorj's collection of Melee arsenal is impressive

I am aware 24 hours is a massive commitment and so hope he is getting some well deserved sleep and cant wait to see some of the screeneies that happened over the course of the 24 hour event Unfotunatly My Swords collection is a Laby's a Falcatta and Phylossipher sword but he has re ignited the fun of melee since swinging an axe 2 MANY a year a go.

Knowing the Melee Addict he is even if this isnt a 24 hour annual event I am sure there will be oppertunities for every Melle enthusiast to team hunt again and have a monthly melee skill party . was amazing to see lots of swinging of swords and axes and all good fun and amazing to see how much damage a team can do on some of the larger mobs as well and how many people were in the team and joining in.

Its also amazing to see how quickly your carried weight and your stength improves as well and skill gains that you can get in the process

Happy 10th Birthday & Thanks for a fun event even if I wasnt around much this weekend ;P

 

It was a blast, thanks all who joined! The old friends and the new friends.
I lost ~600 PEDs, ~85% return. Not bad at all, a cost of 25PED/ hour. I did 16 hunts with 19 different mobs. 7 hunts were a profit; 2 hunts >90% return; and 3 hunts I want to forget. I'll make a more indebt summary later this week.
Notable loots are: Bloodstained Axe 55 (L), MANTA Chill 1 (L), 3x Empty Skill Implant (L), Piron PBP-37 (L).

Here are all the globals, the best remained the Togolossi.
Unfortuatly tracker didn't always work so I don't have a screenshot of them all.

I am glad that you liked it and gratz on making a profit too! Which mobs did you joined in?
Next one I am going to organize before my 20th spawnday, that's for sure! I feel at the moment like doing a 24 Hours once a year with a simplified Mêlée party every month.

Thank you very much for your kind words my friend! Well ... what can I say?
First of all, play a bit more with mêlée, you know you like it now!
Second, you haven't nearly seen a tenth of my collection haha.
Third, I did a nap sunday morning and set the alarm at 13:00. Good think I did, because I nearly missed an appointment at 17:00 lol. Went to bed early on sunday, now all rested. Lots of breaks, stretching of my muscles kept me going. The hardest part was ~06:00.
Fourth, being the only mêlée-hunter in a ranged-team often is no fun. Too often I've been in team where I was only pre-damaging the mobs, before they were dragged away by the rifles; resulting in ever more deaths and revivals on my part. A 100% mêlée-team is indeed a very cool sight and experience. I am also impressed by all who joined that the number of rifles/ pistols fired was no more then 3 (accidental) shots, even when faced by a thick pack of highly aggressive mobs. Thanks all for that! That's really all the way!
Fifth, My Strenght went up too, hurray! Total skills (you know I love to be nerdy like this): 1154 points.

Yes there will be, that's for sure! Not too sure when and in what form, but there will be more. I am starting to get the feelings for organizing an event like this, and I like it very much myself.

07:55 Kadra
I woke up earlier then expected saturday. I thought I had it all prepared (I had not), but one thing I didn't think about was ... what mob to start with? Jod was online and I suggested the Kadra. Starting alone, till he joined me about 15 minutes later. It was not a good start, no globals.
Mission: 39 kills

08:40 Tiarak & Huon
I walked from Sanctuary Cove to the Huon herd. On the way I ran my sword through some Tiaraks. The Huons were a much better mob and more people joined in to share the goods. Thanks Jod for lending me your portable repair unit, wich I still have. He also looted an ESI (L) somewhere during this run. First positive run as well!
Mission: 14 kills Tiarak & 68 Kills Huon (Stage 1 completed)

10:00 Korwil
This mob was a mistake. The team was to small/ weak for this mighty predator. We died a lot and loot pas poor. We quited while there was still a mob injured by us, but we couldn't get to it, because it was defended by his brothers. One of the worst runs unfortuatly.

10:55 Bokol
Nusul or Bokol, that's the question. We went for the big Bokol and glad we did! Ever more mêlée-hunters joined in. We got two globals, first was captured by Tracker but the second wasn't. Global-pics are bad from now on till late at night.

12:10 Togolossi
Time to hit the Underground for my favorite mob there, the slender Togolossi! We started at the smaller maturities and later went to the mediums where we got the biggest Global of all 24 Hours. The team was also the largest on Togolossi at 10 members. Fantastic run all in all.
Mission: 570 killpoints
Weapons: Genesis Icerage (L) + Manta Chill 1 (L)

13:45 Oratan Miner
After the Togolossies someone mentioned 'Miners'. I was thinking about the Badgers (Miner-bots), but it appeared he talked about the Oratan Miners. First we tried the smaller ones and because we felt confident we jumped into the Abyss to the Oratan Village. That was no succes (Lars, where were you to heal us?!) and back we went again to the small Oratan Miners. Great suggestion with the most globals per hunt, and two good items: Bloodstained Axe 55 (L), MANTA Chill 1 (L). And nearly breaking-even as a bonus.

15:40 Riptor
All good things come to an end. This was my failed suggestions, the big Riptors. We were chewed on, spat on, ripped to pieces, bled to death. We were not the hunters, we were the prey. I used the MANTA Chill 1 (L) that I looted previously on the Oratan Miners.

17:15 Yuka
We only stayed with the smaller Yuka for a couple of kills, I can't remember why. I ended up with a little profit. Could be because we did die a lot?

Pizza time and time for the best run of 24 Hours. First mob we encountered had a ESI (L) stuffed inside that I myself looted. Funny thing to note is that I haven't seen an ESI (L) for years and now I saw three being looted in 24 Hours.

20:10 Mutated Beladoth & Mutated Otorugi
Even with a high number of globals per killed this was a small loss. But nothing be be worried about, it still was a very enjoyable run. I also learned to reset Tracker by this time, so enjoy the swirly-shots again!

All good things come to an end. While the Songra Valley was still inside the acceptable 90-100% return, here the team got into a dry period that lasted for hours. Scoria was the worst experience. Not only the loot was terrible (there had been worse), there were also two other teams hunting there and shouting insults to each other. We should have left the area when one of the jerks agroed too many Scoria on us to handle.

00:25 Badger_710R
Back into the Underground, now for those other 'Miners'. I bought some (L) weapons earlier tonight from LeeLoo. Stupid me thought I could use them all, but one I couldn't and I didn't realize untill some mobs in what you do not have the experience to handle this weapon effiently means for the Katsuichi.
Mission: 163 Killpoints

01:20 Teladon
I admit that I don't know all the mobs on Arkadia. I thought that the Teladon were one of the most dangerous and lethal mobs that are to be found. They are actually cuties and due to their may HP an excellent teammob. Globals also started coming back, although not really the end of the losing period. And there was a little extra for me on them too.
Mission: 102 kills (Stage 1 completed)

03:10 Zadul
I was beginning to feel tired and all, so I wanted some easier mob. Big Zadul are just the mob to go to for that and perfect to hunt in a team with TT-weapons. Still not the end of the losing-streak unfortuatly.

05:15 Oweko
This mob has something in it for me. I can't explain what, they are just cool. The loot was bad to start with, bad in the middle when we got to the point of it's all or nothing! Good thing we enured, because then they dropped a global with full-TT Piron PBP-37 (L) and few mobs later the third ESI (L).

07:00 Navi
Another of those mobs I don't really know and think they are the top of the foodchain. Because of my failed expectation I wanted these Navi to be my splendid end mob. It wasn't nearly as dangerous (I hunted the big ones in a team one other time when we were thrown around like toy-soldiers and I remember that hunt as if we hunted the young ones), but the Navi for sure had that golden touch. Especially when we just started the minies and two fine globals were coming almost every second mob. I wanted to end the 24 Hours with just one more global (and is it too much to ask for one HOF in 24 Hours?), but that wasn't happening. Thanks to Spike and aunsw for sticking with me to the end and teaching me how to fly with a Sleipnir lol! Thanks for all the dozens of mêlée-hunters all along the way!

Thanks for a fun event Ardorj...I stayed as long as I could but having RL commitments on sunday limited the time I could stay.


I made it through to the Yuka (dont remember Madana though,maybe I was sleep hunting at that stage) but had to call it a night at that point.

Made it back on for the teladon but then my sunday appointment took all day and I couldnt make it back again.(wasnt happy about that)

It really was awesome to finally have a team melee hunt because like all melee hunters know its almost impossible to team hunt with ranged hunters.
And there was some nice weaponry on display-except that damn guitar axe or what ever it was,Damn that thing was loud!

I really had no idea where that ESI came from as I found it when I logged on the next day so not knowing who was in team at the time I figured the team wouldn't mind if I donated it to Ardorj as a 'Spawn Day' gift (it was only 11pd)


Oh and one last thing.....The fairness shown with item splits and giving shares to hunters that were on another mob or coming back from revive means I will be happy to hunt with anyone that was there that day...You showed what a mature group of gamers are really like...thumbs up!


My 10th will be in December 2 years from now....mark your calendar :biggrin2:

Thankfully I missed a couple of the bad hunts which helped my returns although I was there for the riptor :banghead:


Maybe I was the problem on them,So many times I've seen great globals scroll through chat from riptor but I can't make them pop.
