I've heard some good and bad comments about the new TT weapons (all limited) compared to the old UL ones. UL weapons obviously have the convenience that you don't have to buy more when they break (you just repair them in the repair terminal). But regarding the economy of the new weapons, what do the numbers actually say? I've decay tested them all and entered the stats into entropedia.info. Here is a table from the Weapon Compare Tool, showing how the new TT weapons compare to the old pistol (in the blue box) with & without the normal "eco" amps: Notes: entropedia won't let me add range data, also you can use a small amp with the PF-TT and the MANTA, but entropedia didn't have all the stats for those amps so I couldn't add it to this table. The LAW-TTR stats seem to be missing from entropedia, but as I recall, they weren't anything special, lower eco than the LAW-TT R. Conclusion: besides the "convenience" factor of having UL weapons, the new TT weapons are better than the old ones in terms of economy. They're killer eco with the appropriate amps, and "good" eco without amps. The high attack rate is great too. I heard some complaints about how this change would be bad for group "TT hunts" but I think it's just the opposite... now you say "everyone get a TT rifle" and you know everyone's doing the same dps (as long as they're maxed), before you'd have opalos, hk110s, and law-TTRs doing very different dps and eco. Remember, when hunting 10 hp punies, limiting overkill is important... so don't use that amped mako for the kill shot when you only have a sliver of hp left on the mob TLDR: The TT weapons are great choices for new players, for maximum damage per pec eco use with one of the amps in the table but they're also fine to use unamped.
So... basically the Herman PF-TT (L) is more eco than the (old) S.I Psy-Blade? Entropedia says that Dmg/pec is at 2.866. I found the Psy-Blade to be the most eco choice for me before the VU.
If you check history of the item, you'll see it was me who did the decay test, and I didn't get it right first time (I do 10 shot tests, and it's possible to count them wrong, which is why I do the test twice) Hence anyone who has time, calculator and some fruit or sweat is welcome to double-check it. Note also that better headline eco won't necessarily translate into better bottomline eco because of more overkill on small mobs.
Oh I wasn't saying you were wrong. I'm basically in a learning stage and testing is my best friend right now (though it would be great if I didn't have to). So far I've tested the M2100 (only down to pec value and not decimal value), S.I Psy-blade, S.I Psy-sword, S.I Combat knife and Bukin's Blade. I kill 50 mobs (carabok and gallard, separately) and then take note of decay and loot value. For me the Psy-blade was the more eco one. Today I've tested the Herman PF-TT (L) and the first 50 was not more eco. I'm doing a new 50 kill run to see what that brings. Will do the same for gallard later. I swunt so it takes time - especially for gallard. Edit: I forgot to mention that I calculate kill cost of mobs. Currently Carabok cost 0.0418 PED with a Herman PF-TT (L). Slightly lower than the firt 50 carabok I killed with the same weapon. It's 0.001 PED more than using a Psy-blade.
Buying starter bps of UL weapons. Seriously L = hostage on UL wepons if I noob don't have ped for full repair I put the pecs I have, and you cannot buy low TT (L) weapons. So I'm crafting UL starter gear and selling for TT+1
What starter gear are you crafting? I don't know of any good starter gear that's eco, UL, and craftable. There's old school, non-SIB stuff but that's like the anti-eco gear for anyone under level 80. BTW, those concerned about doing overkill with a 5 max dmg weapon, keep in mind that it's only an issue once you've maxed the weapon. Before that you're doing less damage (and eco is out the window anyway). There is room in the Arkadia arsenal for a low damage weapon (3 points max dmg) to use as a finisher on punies for those who are concerned about minimizing overkill on punies. But again, a brand new player doesn't even need to worry about this until they've maxed the TT weapons.
If entropedia is up to date with current arkadia's bps, I noticed that none bought or dropped bp produce UL weapons, for me is kinda shoot in your own foot, run to other planets to get UL producing bps because our home planet does not provide any.
I'm little split and confused over this. While the DPP looks very good for the new TT laser pistol it looks like you have to sacrifice some DPS or am I reading the chart wrong? I personally like to kill as fast as possible but the new guns amped and unamped seem lacking compared to the older generation of guns?
Yeah the dps was lowered a bit, at least for the laser pistol. For more dps try the cap-7 arctic plus A103, very nice eco combo.
