    Hey Folks,

    Just heard from Dave, and he asked me to pass on, that the VU slotted for tomorrow is delayed by at least a day.

    MA apparently reported this on the Entropia Universe Facebook page ONLY (see link below)

    MA sucks and they know it, so they try to not get this info to a lot of players i guess :p

    Thanks Snape and Dave - now it's at least one more day until we know what we will see on Ark exactly after this VU :)

    They post on facebook so that the news bots can pick them up for the forums and no one really goes to entropiauniverse.com.

    As a former game developer, I learned that facebook makes for better broadcasting/marketing than putting it on the website as most people won't even know (if not for the forum news bots picking it up) that it was posted. However, with facebook or perhaps twitter, that news is seen instantly... or they could at least pay so that it is in your face. Not to mention the easy sharing with other facebook friends.

    What they are lacking is that same news bot picking up their facebook thread and posting it on their website so that is integrated.

    One mistake though, I made the comment above in the form of a declarative statement. I am only speculating but it is the most likely from what I know about social marketing (as it is part of my day job). While most have given up, I at least like to give MA a little benefit of the doubt.

    Really? Well in this case, the newsbots aren't working then because we didn't pick it up.

    Normally I would happily give it a hiding with the BanHammer for its performance, but in this case, Ark-bot is only programmed to read the RSS feeds directly from entropiauniverse.com....So it shall escape my wrath this time :soangry:

    That said, maybe we need to look into somehow getting feeds from the EU FB page too.....?

    Should. Usually is a plugin or default function within phpbb or vbulletin.

    Thanks for passing on the message: I also don't 'do' Facebook, so would have totally missed it otherwise.

    And since delay(s) are preferable over a bugged VU, I take it as good news. ;)

    There should be a standard and efficient method of delivering news like this so that "all" participants are informed, which we all know doesn't work very well, so I'm glad that the Ark Team is on the job and shares what they know in a timely manner.
