Yes, of course I wrote support again. It wouldn't make a lot of sense not to?
I understand that the majority of newbie mistakes are their own doing, but honestly I don't see what I could have done to prevent this.

Hey hope to see you back for another try sometime soon.

All these problems started when u got support to delete your account so you could be "born" on Arkadia so they could get a greater share of the revenue from your deposits and activity. I think the clear lesson here for other readers is don't get support to screw with your account unless its absolutely necessary. I am sure Ark PP would have been content with a lesser share of the revenue from some activity in preference to a greater share of no revenue from no activity.

Ha ha, touché, you got me there; that's something I could have done differently.
Although to be fair, I did specifically make a thread to ask whether this was a wise course of action, and received the 'go ahead'. So what's a newb to do?

Ironically you are right: for Arkadia a small piece of something is better than a big piece of nothing.
I'm sorry that this was ultimately the unintended end result.

But it's also a weird premise to have players start to think: "better stay with the 'main' planet for stability." For all intent and purposes, that's not how the PP system is supposed to work, or is it?
I've read of a mesh-mash of companies and owners of Calypso, starting with and including MA. With seeing the son of the MA CEO working for Calypso, and now a new Calypso employee (who was a MA employee until Januari'13) with a MindArk signature on the forum, while he answers and acts like a MA representative on the VU. I'm getting confused, as I see a blurring of the lines, which doesn't instill trust.
This is off topic, but it's also a reason for hesitating to pump money in this game. And yes, playing means depositing to me.

Sigh, I was only going to answer to your post, and wound up nagging in general again.
Sorry, I should really stop reading other forums, but then again, I think I already mentioned that 'stopping' is not my strong point. As my previous posts so sadly display.

So this time, a firmer goodbye. I'll close this tab, so please don't take a non response for rudeness.
Although I can't guarantee a 'staying of the hands' if I read a question I just have to answer.
Though I will sincerely try this time.

    Good luck to all,
    over and out,

    May.

No, i think it was the changing of planets (new ava with name too similar to old one) that caused the problem. You would most likely have encountered the same thing had you started on Ark and then gone to Caly, since it's the same support that handles those cases. For all I know, it's still the name similarity that's preventing you from logging in.

The PP system works this way: the PP that "recruits" you to the game gets to keep 1/4 of the income generated from your avatar, while the planet where you play gets another 1/4 (Mindark gets 1/2). So there should be great incentive to market to new players (and keep them interested in the game).

The simple solution here would be for Support to completely purge both accounts from the system and allow you to start a fresh wherever you choose. My question is WHY IS THIS NOT AN OPTION?

    Speaking of which:

    (cue rant music)

There are literally thousands of accounts sitting unused/locked/abandoned in the system from over the last 10 years. Why not purge them all after a certain date and allow whatever items or assets are in them to recycle into the system?

There are dozens (if not more) of estates, LA's etc that sit unused, perpetuating the impression that there game is empty and not turning, when they could be put up again for purchase allowing a new generation of people a crack at making them work. Highly sort after ancient items, like mod mercs and mod faps could be released back into the system, driving interest to obtain these and also serving to reinflate the crashed prices for some of these items.

It would certainly serve MA better from a monetary standpoint that dropping so many ATH's and Uber HoFs, most of which just get withdrawn from the system straight away. From a marketing standpoint it is also a winner as we know from past and personal experience that these items/LA's etc and the possibility of make long-term healthy returning investments are part of what drew us old players here in the first place

Why is such a simple solution not being used?

    Liability issues perhaps.

If they purge those accounts then that ped would have to be counted as a revenue?

Dunno might mess with how they consider this game to not be gambling.

Surely it would be adventageous for MA to purge old accounts and take the tt back into its account. The reason they may not due this might have to do with legal issues. Cause if MA could have that cash back with no risk to the company im 100% sure they would have taken it

You're assuming Mindark would want more MMs and mod faps in the universe. I think i was a mistake to introduce unbalanced UL items like those in the first place.

Looks like I need to use Napalm on Support.

Sorry that Support has been so useless in this matter May. I'm going to take this up with the big guys @ MA.

Chris, I really appreciate your continued involvement, and willingness to bring out big guns; but please don't waste your ammunition for me. There are undoubtedly gazillions of people with more pressing issues than mine right now.
I'm happy to feel welcome in at least this part of the universe, but I think the big guys at MA are too busy fixing the VU (at least I assume, and hope they are) to spare time for this.
And as I said, I'm backing off for the moment. So you really don't need to go out of your way for me. Unless of course you want to use my case as an example to suggest better support; in that case, feel free to use as needed. My avatar would be delighted to be useful in some / any way.

And Snape, you might have a point there. (Though I have only one account.) A fresh account may solve it.
However since the problem started with a deletion, perhaps I should wait to make a new account until this one has died a natural death from inactivity. If I'm going to wait, I might as well wait a bit longer, if that makes success in the end more viable.
Or maybe a new name would be all that's needed, who knows?
Still, at least this dead account wouldn't add to the plethora of items in limbo, since I haven't had a possibility to obtain any items to begin with. ;)

Thanks all very much for trying to help.

aaargg, just realized I opened this tab again....

Actually, old accounts do not expire from inactivity. After 750 days your items will be deleted but the account remains open. To close an account you'd have to send a support case requesting it. It takes about 2 weeks to close an account, though I really doubt most people wait that long before creating a new one. I doubt most people even bother to close old accounts when creating a new avatar, especially if it's one that's never even been down to the planet :) The deletion of an old account should not be a problem or affect a new account in any way (though I would use a different email address to prevent confusion). When dealing with customer support... keep it simple to avoid problems later. And as we found out (thanks to May the Guinea Pig), it's a bad idea to ask MA to manually change your name to get around the "this name is too similar to an existing name" problem.

Creating a new account should fix all the issues you've experienced. Though I should say... currently the game is still having some stability issues from the infrastructure update last week. Hopefully that'll be fixed in the next few days. So it wouldn't hurt to wait till the next patch comes out (tuesday?) and they fix the servers. I'm sure they're working feverishly to fix the issues.

Would you look at what I just came home to:

View attachment 8097 Seems napalm did the trick!
That's one big red button you must have in your lair Chris, when pressed it gives amazingly fast results.
Thank you so much for helping, even after the point where I had given up.
This certainly will be faster than waiting until my account dies (or is deleted).

Hopefully this is the end of the 'bad luck' streak for this avatar (knock on wood).
If all goes well, the next and last post from me in this tread will be when I'm setting foot on Planet Arkadia.
That will be an absolute Kodak moment. Or whatever the modern day equivalent is called.

Fingers crossed that the server problems will have been solved by then, so actual play time can be achieved.
Because as just has been shown: little miracles do happen sometimes.

    Check it out: result!

I'll be able to have some playing time tonight after 21:00, and check our if I'm on top of some mountain or not.

So if you bump into a naked woman, don't scream: it's just me!

After some client loader wrestling, I managed to set foot on Arkadia. Score!
I did wound up on some mountain, as was predicted.
And I was also naked, as was predicted.

The only problem is that my clothes are Male.
As you might be able to see on the screenshot: I'm predominantly Female.
Or do I look butch-er than I thought?

So until support can provide me with replacement garments, I'm afraid I'll be the streaker you see running around.
Don't mistake it for some weird hobby!
    Pretend it's a bikini at least. ;)

ROFL at the clothing. If you do the new start mission chain you can end up with some free clothes which might help.

Ok, as some have already seen: I've managed to find my way down the mountain, so I've been able to play a bit. Yay. :D
There are still a lot of dc's, but that's seems to be a common error.

Still no word from support though, so no pj's for me yet. The free newbie armor from this starter mission looks nice though, at least it doesn't scream n00b so loudly as orange does. (Plus it covers my bits.)

So why am I posting yet again?
Because I tried to deposit, and received the message:
Is it general that it takes time for your start to be processed, and it can be delayed by a few days?
Or is this again something my avatar has incurred?
What would the recommendation be: 'back to support', or 'just wait a week'?

That's was I was guessing in the end.
At first I thought a delay might be one of those quirky EU things; like 40 business days for withdrawal.
But then I figured that wouldn't make much sense on the deposit side.
    Thanks for the answer.

And yeah, 'lucky' is my middle name...

No, I've never heard of that error before (yet again!). Doubtless it's because support moved your avatar down to the planet without setting all the proper flags telling the system that you belong there.

Though I suppose it could be a matter of waiting... When you close an account they have to send it to someone to manually process the changes and that takes a week or so, it could be possible that support can move your avatar easily but the order to process all the final details is sitting on someone's desk.

I've posted your issue in the adviser skype chatroom so the A-team will see it soon, if they can help. In the meantime, I've sent you a friend request in game to see if we can get your immediate needs taken care of.

    A new beginning (again)?

At the same time when I asked for the deposit block to be lifted, I also asked another question:
If they could tell me honestly if it would be better to delete this whole account, and start over completely with a new email address and a new avatar name. If the issues were being caused by the move to Arkadia, and future problems would likely to be expected.
    This was the reply:

Although I am happy that I received an honest answer, in the time it took, I did clock over 5% in my discipleship.
So I'm not exactly jumping for joy.

Still, if support is apparently expecting further troubles with this avatar, I guess I'm better of with a fresh one.
Gambling and finding out in a year that they were right, isn't a very appetizing thought neither.
So I'll go through the whole process again, and will (hopefully) be reborn with a problem-less avatar and a new name.:surrender:

Unless somebody can give me an urgent reason not to go through with it...
