so after my first week on Arkadia i have hunting halix and jori and with the good and the bad i am noticing a slight lose overall unless i get a really good drop. is this the norm from low level hunting or should i expect this to be the norm just keep grinding away until i get lucky? i am not taking huge loses had a 40 ped jori hunt and lost 8 ped but if the trend is downward what steps would i need to put myself in a better position to make a profit?

Your return is a bit low, on average you should get 90-95% back of what you spend in gun/amp decay and ammo usage.

Since you are a new player, there is a change you haven't maxed out the gun you are using yet, as you get closer to maximizing your gun you're tt returns will incrase (on average). Off course there might still be 40 ped hunts where you will only get 20 peds back, But there will also be runs where you get 80 ped back. But in the end it averages out.

The way to profit is to find stuff that has a high enough markup to cover for your tt losses. And that can be hard for a newcomer without the peds to raise decent stack sizes to sell on auction or without knowing a lot of traders ingame.

If you're looking for some starter profit i would advice to start mining instead, it's nearly impossible to loose peds on the long run with mining, unless you act really stupid (using big amps/mining in taxed LA's/keep dropping in one place). Downside is that mining can be a bit more boring then hunting.

or if your ped card is big enough, combine the 2. go mine while you hunt those oro/jori's, pay attention to the map and drop the bombs about 150 range apart (110 will work as minimum, but personally i tend to get hits more often if i wait for 150 distance)

also, if you can, don't TT anything above 105%, and the if your ped card can support it even lower mu then that.

to sell stacks on auction, wait for atleast 100tt per stack on common stuff (up to 125-130%) to make sure you offset the auction fee, or alternitavely find out who uses the stuff you get and sell it to them directly.

I would say it a little differently... these days it is actually quite easy to lose peds mining. Simply following some of the "old school" advice you find on the forums will result in losses... such as the advice to "redrop when you find double claims".

If you use LBML, never overlap your drops, always sell your materials on auction (at least 50 ped TT stacks) for the best prices you can get, mine in regions that give over 110% average MU, move to better regions when the hit rate is low, and hunt regularly, then you will profit at mining IF you cycle more than a few thousand ped.

Are there any areas on ark that give less then 110% average markup anyway?

As you skill up your losses should reduce. Once you get 100% proficient with the weapon in both Hit and Damage -- you should expect about 90% return on what you put in, over the long run that is.

If you have questions or need help with anything, msg me in game -- use the game player index to find me: Rachel MsPudding Hawkins.

    GL, and welcome :)
