This is certainly a stupid question but since I have not yet had the exposure at all, I don't know... Does Soc Chat work accross planets ???

welcome and yes it works between all the different planets and their zones so also in hell and so on.
Can confirm as many others have done above me... Society chat works through all planets, you can still keep contact with your Calypso buddy, who is speaking with your girlfriend that is located at Rocktropia while you are having the best fun at Arkadia!
