As the title says... I'm enjoying the game.. sorta.. it's REALLY frustrating because of the lack of information even after doing the newbie area. Things that I would like to know... Can you determine the likely hood of success or failure of a combat encounter with a mob via a visual inspection? I.E. a red mob above your level, Green mob below... etc On the starter area the lowest level mob that I have run across is level 4... is there an area where the mobs are a bit easier? How do I get to Calypso? I saw a youtube video on that island/area and the mobs there started at a reasonable level 2. There was no indication of skills or leveling via the newbie area.. is that intentional and why ... or did I miss something? Why do melee weapons decay so rapidly? They decay much faster than guns. I think my starting sword lasted all of 3 level four mobs. Also in the starting area in the noobie zone perhaps making that clearer would be helpful.. it would have been to me. I found out that while you can deploy your hovercraft during combat you're not allowed to enter it while in combat... and that the mobs will follow you for a ridiculously long time until they kill you... which he did.. bastard! On that note do mobs ever stop attacking you? I inadvertently trained a level 8 mob back to my rez location where it killed me an additional 3 more times. It went on to kill someone else while I was rezzing which was lucky for me as I fled and they probably died a few million more times. Is that normal or was that buggy behavior? Is there a cream or tonic you would recommend to apply to the chaffed area due to the steep learning curve?
hi, and welcome Ignore the mob lvls they don't tell you how hard the mobs are. Carabok Puny and Gallards are the newbie mobs and you wont have any issue with those. No, no visual thing to tell you what to hunt, that's up to you to decide on your own or with help of a mentor or friends. If you want to see if you can handle the mobs, go close to one and if it kills you quickly no harm done and you might even got some nice skills. Melee weapons decay more just because they don't require ammo like guns do, guns use ammo+decay melee use only decay but often the eco on unamped weapons is similar to melee weapons. If you cant enter it during combat, thats something new never heard of that. And it will follow you until you are out of its visible field. Getting killed is not necessarily a negative(ofc if you get killed during combat is) thing here, you usually gain skills as a new player. That revive killing is not normal so please report it in the bug section where you were etc..
Hi Barney, first, I recommend you find a mentor. My mentoring slots are full atm but there is room in my mentoring society where you can learn and chat with other players and myself until I get another available mentoring slot open. If you're interested, just let me know here or in game and I'll get you hooked up. You can look up the mob stats on entropedia.info and once you've played a little you'll be able to judge from that info approximately how hard a mob will be for you. Carabok and Gallard are the easiest mobs. I recommend skilling your TT weapon on Carabok until level 3 or so then you can move to halix or jori if you're bored of carabok, otherwise stick to carabok until you've maxed your TT weapon (reached level 5 weapon profession level). Carabok are west of the quarry and inside every academy. You can take a space ship there, but I recommend sticking to Ark for a while. You'll find it's quite friendly on new players once you get connected and find where things are and how to do things. I'm not sure what you mean... you can view your skills and profession levels in the appropriate screens (can be accessed via your actions library (hit "y")). In entropia, you skill up in a profession by performing that profession. So to skill up your weapon, you use your weapon. That training sword was only to help you learn how to use it. The reason guns last longer than swords is because each "damage" you do to a mob must cost you "TT value" (you don't get anythign for free). Since the main cost in using a gun is ammo (which has TT value), guns last longer. With swords, they have no ammo so all that value per hit must come from the sword's TT value. In other words, the overall cost is the same; you're just going to buy multiple swords instead of multiple batches of ammo. Also, the full sized swords and guns last longer and work better than the trainers. You can enter your hoverpod during combat, however you just wait for your weapon action complete its cycle. Yes, better to die than to allow your hoverpod to be destroyed by mobs. (It can still be repaired tho, using a special repair tool, so don't TT destroyed vehicles!) Sounds normal... They're very hungry out there. Yes, mix 1 part mentor with several parts soc-mates and it makes everything go much smoother Also check out the guides section of the site: http://arkadiaforum.com/content.php?291-beginner-s-guide Good luck and hope to see you in game!
Thanks for the awesome answers. Skills though are something that elude me. So it's just a way to measure how often and successful you were utilizing a particular ability... but there are 2 columns of data one with Skill points and one that's Skill level or some such. Also there's a quest to turn 100 skill points into something I forget now... just not sure how all of this works with everything. Thanks for answering my questions
You gain skill points as you use weapons or tools or do various other activities in game. You can see your skill points (hit "k"). Skill points contribute to Profession Levels (click the little green star at the bottom of the skills window to see Professions). Professions determine how well you do an activity in game, and how advanced a tool you can use. For example, when you use a CAP-TTR, you get skills that contribute to improving your use of the laser pistol. Once you've reached level 5 in Laser Pistoleer (hit) and level 5 in Ranged Laser (dmg) profession, you've "maxed" the CAP-TTR and can use it efficiently now. Higher level weapons have higher requirements. As you're hit by mobs, your Evader profession level increases due to contributing skills like evade, combat reflexes etc increasing. The better Evader you are, the less a mob will hit you, and the larger the mob you can hunt. The 100 point "quest" you're referring to is not a quest, but it is a broker (ACA representative) that will exchange mission tokens (obtained from certain missions) for "attributes" that are added to your avatar. Attributes are just a particular group of skills, including Agility, Strength, Psyche, Intelligence that define how your avatar behaves. So... use tool --> get skills --> increase profession levels --> use tool better
Time for another link to Alice's guide. This covers all the basic concepts in Entropria and is recommended reading for all new players.
yes that is a great link the guide helps a lot I just started using it but any way u was asking how to get to other planets if u need a ride there is normaly a few pilots in the areas that a lot of ppl gather in that offer rides for a fee.....GL & HAPPY HOFFING FROM OMERTA SOC
Thanks for all the support guys. I did manage to purchase a slightly better gun than the starting one with some ammo but the ammo burn at 190 is killing me This game is certainly entertaining. I'm still messing about with the starting lvl 4 mobs occiasionally hunting down the Halix lvl 4-5. I find those burn through my ammo too fast to be profitable or even break evenable Just a big hug to the community in general. Use to games where the other players would rather poke you in the eye with a stick than be helpful.
yea there Is some much a lot of newer players miss out on because they really don't stop and just look just enjoy it and if im ever on world look me up in the PR ( Luna Wiskey-Girl Mars ) add me to FL maybe u can catch a ride to caly I like to planet hop from T2T well have & happy hoffing from Omerta Soc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
