They go the same place your peds go when you hunt and get less TT value out than in. Your decay contributes to income for Arkadia, Mindark, and Calypso (if that's where your avatar is from).

Yes it is needed so people can get bigger guns or new ones as so much ped is spent on big ones then it takes away the option to fail as much.

I can confirm that the spent ammo does return to the loot pool.

I will take a look @ this for the next partner update. Some systems does not function inside instances and I'm not sure about the auction system. Storage definitely does not function in instances.

I think instances are hosted in the same environment as space. Perhaps the reason why storage will not work there. Enabling auction may have strange effects if so ;p

Hang on, if you deliberately log off does this actually happen? Have you tested it?

If it does then it is a bug and a system exploit as you will still be gaining "free" skills whilst doing the aborted Instance which you could then chip out at some point and potentially sell. Why should you get anything back if you DELIBERATELY abort the instance?

If it is an exploit and you know it is an exploit, you are obligated to report it!

It is covered in the EULA/TOS that you agree to every time you login to the game (see below).

So T97x, please do not encourage people to do things that will get them in trouble for exploiting a system and potentially banned!

I'm sure the skills you'd gain would not be worth the key MU you'd lose even if you craft your keys yourself, so no one in their right mind would try to farm skills that way. I think it's highly likely that skill gains are removed anyway when an instance fails like this. Also, all the peds you spent are not always returned, so there is some risk of loss even if you do this. As Tomas said, it's a last resort to try and and save your peds from an instance that goes horribly wrong. The alternative is that the instance does not reset itself when you DC... so any DC or server crash would result in significant loss of peds. This is the way instances were at the beginning... MA received a lot of rage over that and they changed it so that we automatically get ped and ammo reimbursements for failed instances.

I wonder what happens to the mission counters when an instance fails. Might want to check into that, but again the mission rewards aren't worth the key MU spent either.

So, no I don't think it could be considered an exploit since you don't get any benefit or advantage over other players by doing it. It's a net loss to log out, but just not as big a loss as losing the entire cost of the instance and getting zero loot.

I'm 90% sure that if you "fail" an instance, deliberately or not, you receive the peds in loot you would have gotten at that point. You do not get get all ammo/decay/key tt back. This was my experience with the key I had a fail awhile back. 1175.43 cost and 895.54 returned. Pretty damned annoying to almost finish a key, then get stuck with 75% tt return and no chance at MU to show for it just because the gerbil fell off the wheel.

This might be the case... shouldn't be too hard to test.

If that's the case then im due loads back in loot since everything ive had after it ive paid for. Lets see how I go over next week or so and see if I hit something above the 1k mark to make up for it. ;) If I do and don't have to depo that amount to get it then I will believe that ;)

Well, it could actually be hard to test. In my experience, the majority/all of the key tt is returned in loot. Active peds (what you spend to do damage) is paid back at 70-75% tt value.

This fits with me getting 90-95% tt return on the golden key (1k key value vs 300 ped active value) compared to 70-80% tt return on a key 10 (200 key value vs 1250 active value)

To actually test that you would need to spend a fair bit of ammo, even on a lower key.

If this is not a bug then I wish I had done this and got my peds back as was a huge loss. But im sure this would be seen as an exploit ;)

This is not what Svena is saying. When you crash in an instance, you actually get a message from Mindark along with the peds and ammo added to your account. There's no actual looting of anything involved.

i understand refund as one of special feature . same as mobs cant be unreacheable inside

system is set up that if none is inside for 10+ minutes instance pays refund , that is lesser than TT spend
As refund you get peds not items

you get NO free skills this way

i point out that MA have declared that Logging Out is not an Exploit in the context of travelling in Space, even though it is with the express intention of avoiding being looted. I don't see any logical difference between that, and the situation here of Logging out to avoid potential loss of loot due to the timer expiring. Personally I don't see how Logging Out can be an Exploit under any circumstances, and perhaps that was MA's reasoning too. MA designed Space to be PvP, they designed Instances to be time-limited, both can be circumvented by Logging out; no difference; their opinion of the first should be the same for the second.

Couldn't the player with the broken L have run all the way out to the Auction at Aakas if there had been time? Isn't this what the message at the entry door means, that you only need the key on your first entry?
